I dated a guy back from October-December and we had sex about 5 times. I know it is not healthy to do this but I recently became paranoid and took 1g of Zithromax today just in case of a STD. I was tested before this guy and was clean. I am unable to get a STD test due to facilities closing pretty early and will get one in a couple months but do you think the 1g would have cured gonnoreha, chlamydia, and syphilis if I did have it?
So after some research I figured out that the treatement for syphilis is 2g of zithromax... I initially found that very odd and feel that this may cause me to overdose!! Not to mention that I have gilbert's syndrome and my total blood bilirubin level are usually around 2.0... Overall, my question is, how harmful will 2g of zithromax at once be?? I hear that zithromax is heavy on the liver which is what makes me afraid of what 2g of it can do!!
The azithromycin you took would cure all gonorrhea and chlamydia and may cure syphilis (there is some debate about the syphilis). Please understand however, syphilis is a rare disease and it unlikely (VERY UNNLIKELY) that your partner had syphilis.

I had unprotected oral and protected anal in mid sep 2008. 2,5 weeks later I had a "paper cut" on my penis glans which healed in 2-3 days. In early dec 2008 I took 2g Zithromax and then got a full STD panel done mid jan 2009.
Everything came back negative.
Can a primary chancre appear as a "paper cut" and can it heal in 2-3 days?

If treated w. 2 g zithromax for NSU, how long would that mask incubating syphillis. IE, how long after taking zithromaz could a follow up syphillis test be done and be valid?
Theoretically possible but rare by oral sex. Equally importnat, syphilis is a rare STD in the US and almost nonexistant except in gay/bi men and in commercial sex workers in limited geographic areas (e.g., southeastern inner cities and among latinos in the southwest).
Nongonococcal urethritis (NGU): This might be the highest risk from fellatio, sometimes perhaps due to normal oral bacteria and not a standard STD.
i have 1000 mg of antbiotics..zithromax...dont know if that cures it..syphilis....if it is syphilis... it went away but came back, so possibly the Zithromax is not strong enough to eliminate possible MG. Presumably if it was MG then 1g Zithromax was doing no good & it was now resistant against it. However I then was given a 3rd 1g & it went away for 4years. So is MG ruled out based on this as i didn't take Moxi or 5days of Zithromax prior to the 4years clear spell? Note: Doxy was also taken prior to the 4year clear spell but this isn't good against MG.
On top of all that, azithromycin (Zithromax) is almost always active against syphilis, and the doses you had would have eradicated syphilis if you had it.
Accordingly, it is not possible your penile bumps are syphilis -- and that's not a common initial syphilis symptom anyway. That the doctor thought to swab them suggests she is thinking of herpes -- although this also doesn't sound likely, based on your symptoms.
I am wondering if the Zithromax would make it pointless to get a blood test for this now or should I wait? also I hear that Syphilis infections are on the rise again, not to mention this prostitute could have been riddled.

I had my doctor pre-emptively treat me after an episode of unprotected vaginal sex for STDs with IM shot of rocephin and PO Zithromax. This was one week after exposure and tests for NGU and chlamydia did come back negative. Almost 8 weeks after the exposure I had a syphillis test and it was negative. I never had any symptoms of primary or secondary syphillis, but now my husband has a weird rash and my googling for answers has led to all kinds of scary things.
the first was receiving unprotected oral sex from a CSW (a female, I am male) while intoxicated, the second was trying to self-treat with antibiotics. I took 1.5 g. of Zithromax and began 7 days of Doxy (this was prescribed, for a sinus infection), 2x100mg/day about eight hours after the event.
Next day, in a panic, convinced that 1.5 of zithromax would not be enough, I took 2 g of Biaxin at once. I plan to take 500 mg/day for the next 3 days.
Then I panicked and ran to the nearest pharmacy and and took 1g of Zithromax, 400mg of Cefixime and 2x500g of Ciprofloxacin. I am planning to take additionally 500mg of Ciprofloxacin 2x daily.
My questions are now 1) Are these treatments effective so soon after potential exposure or do I have to wait and see if I get symptoms and then repeat the treatment? 2) Will these treatments generally cure Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and Syphills or do I need others?
I also had HIV testing, syphilis test, and herpes test.I took the zithromax and diflucan but for a week the the symptoms still continued. 4days later Doctor's office called me that they didn't able to process my gonorrhea and chlamydia test due two samples were put in the same tube and that they had to throw away the whole sample. So, I came back to do the chlamydia and gonorrhea test. And it came back negative.
