They gave you Zithromax for NGU?! I took 1.5g of Zithromax about two weeks after catching my NGU/NSU and I still have urethritis... Even after 12 days of Doxycycline it still hurts. The 'D-Mannose' supplement I started a day and a half ago seems to be helping, but everytime I think it's getting better, it comes right back. It's a b'as't'ard. Maybe if I think it will get horribler and I will die soon, THEN it will magically go away.

so im a male 19 years of age i was wondering if smoking/ drinking would have a huge effect on ngu? iv had this for 6 months now.. been treated with zithromax twice... doxy, and somthing else... i just quit smoking. started taking cranberry extract capsles, and a whole arrsonal of other recomended nutrients... the ureathra is starting to swell fairly big... and im worried because i read that constant anti biotics can lead to cancer...

If so, then you have NGU. NGU should be treated. While some NGU is caused by chlamydia, some is not. No matter what is casuing it, to be safe, both you and your wife should bbe treated., either with azithromycin as a singe 1.0 gram dose or with doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for a week.

One thing my second Dr. did say is that if it was ngu and zithromax failed that erythromycin would be the recommended treatment as a next step. I am curious as to why erythromycin would prescribed after zithromax failure, wouldn't erythromycin have similar qualities to zithromax?

, next day as a precaution I was able to get a hold of 2mg of Zithromax ( from Pfizer ) and took 2 pills on day and 2 more pills yesterday. My question is this, what are the chances of contracting chlamydia from receiving oral sex (unprotected) ? Same question about gonorrhea or similars? Will the zithromax I took as a preventive measure be effective ? , i mean was it ok to be taken one day after such event assuming any illness takes certain time to manifest ?

My Gf was diagnosed with mild NGU, and the clinic gave her 9 250 mg pills of Zithromax to give to me. But, she lost the paperwork for how to administer this. I have called and they cannot tell me over the phone, unless I go in. Without going in, what is the correct dose to take? She said she took a dose there, and that her recommendation was different.. I have been diagnosed with NGU. I have tested negative for gonorrhea and chlamydia. I was given 250 mg IM of ceftriaxone and 1 g p.o. of Zithromax. I am currently taking Doxycycline. I think that this situation happened from one instance of unprotected oral sex. My question is this: can NGU contracted from oral sex cause PID in a woman?

I went to the doctor and he Physically examined me without any tests being done. As a precautionary measure he prescribed 1 gram of zithromax and told me that if I indeed had Gonorrhea or Chlamydia that the single dose would cure it. Is this correct? My concern is the following - I was tested first for Gonorhea and Chlymedia and then was provided the zithromax pills - they never tested for NGU at that clinic - About 5 days later I went to another specialist and then was tested via swab for the NGU and bacteria - those test came back at 0 negative. Well form oral sex you could get gonorrhea, NGU, herpes of syphilis. The symptom of discharge sound like gonorrhea or NGU. Since you tested negative for gonorreha my only idea would be NGU. A swab test can test for those STD but a urine test is a more common practice. I would check and see if the Dr might have checked you for NGU. Also what kind of discharge are you having at night? Is it colored? Any stains on your underwear?

#1 I went to the clinic and tested positive for NGU, and negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. They gave me 1gram of Zithromax in a powder drink for treatment. My symptoms persisted so I went back and was tested again. They told me my white blood cell's showed up as "occasional" meaning that my treatment should of been fine and they could not help me if I still had the same symptoms. #2 I went to my family doctor and explained the situation.

This is not the standard treatment regime, but could possibly be adequate. However, based on your story and that lack of symptoms in your wife, it doesn't sound like she ever had anything to begin with. Did your symtoms recur after resuming sex with your wife?

Also, while zithromax would cure NGU if you had it, it would NOT cure gonorrhea. If you took the meds, and in a few days developed symptoms, you'd have to wait 2 weeks to test, since the meds would screw up the test results.

Around 2 days after I started experiencing this dysuria burning pain in my urine, I got Conjuctivitis in both eyes. My doctor put me on Zithromax 2 grams to kill off Chlamydia/Gonorrhea...but the tests say that I dont HAVE those 2 STDs!
