at this point I wouldn't worry any further about the dose you were given ( 1gm is the dose but just as a single treatment isn't recommended ). Instead, if symptoms continue/return, be seen and get basic urine testing done for a proper diagnosis.
For a recent burning sensation in the urethra no discharge, a single 2gm dose is Zithromax is taken. The burning sensation still exist after 1 day of taking the dose. After how long this burning sensation usually disappears following a single 2gm dose of Zithromax? Should ibuprofen be considered as well? Should any other medication be considered?
To treat Chlamydia the dose is 1 Gram or four 250 mg tabs. This 1 gram dose is also a recommended treatment for NGU . I am not sure what the other 5 pills are for. ( Overkill ?). I recommend sticking to the recommended dose to prevent side effects. But I strongly urge you to go in for exam as good follow up is best. Take care.

It sounds distinctly possible that you have acquired an STD/STI and so I would take the zirthromax - you haven't said what dose he prescribed but I would suggest 1 g zithromax as a stat dose - you would need to consult locally though with the original or another doctor.
The results you have quoted seem innocuous, but the fact that you have dicomfort and a possible discharge indicate that you should take the medications pending further more specific results.
I was given zithromax pills to cure an infection, the pills were to big for me to swallow so I let them dissolve in a little water, then drunk them. Will they have the same effect even though I did not swallow them whole????
I was wondering if taking the 1g not all-together in 1 dose would be ineffective against treating the NGU. Mind you I also was taking the Zithromax for a sore throat which is now gone. I don't have any discharge or any burning when urinating but my penis head was somewhat dry and flaky yesterday which is now gone. m self-diagnosing and is not willing to make this change in the type of B12 or in the loading dose. I AM NOT going to regress and go back to the way I was feeling. I am a very active person and I am a triathlete. Both my personal, professional and married life are being negatively affected. The symptoms have improved, for example I no longer have the morning discharge that I had before and the stains in my underwear have almost disappeared. It is now 5 days since I took the last dose of zithromax. I still have some mucus strings and mucus debris in my urine. I did not have this before the STD so I know it is not normal for me. Before I took zithromax the mucus strings in my urine were more noticeable. I have not had sex during this time so there is no risk for reinfection.
Hi, if you dont have any urethra irritation or white puss discharge then you dont have gono. These are the symptoms and its extremely rare that men do not have these symtpoms. Its a nasty bacteria that causes open sores inside the urethra.
They then put me on Zithromax for 3 weeks (1gm in a single dose each wednesday) which cleared up all inflamation, but it came back again. The last time I talked to the doctor at the clinic, he told me that my infection should be cleared up already. They won't test for Mycoplasmasdue to the difficulty in testing.

I'm worried, I shamefully cheated on my wife one time only on the 5th of June, 5 days later I strted to need to pee all the time, I visited my doctor on the 15th June and he tested me for Clymadia and Gonnorhea and gave me 1 gram of Zithromax to take straight away. The results came back negative.

I have recently been diagnosed with mild NGU although I am still waiting for my Chlamydia and Gonorrhea results. I have been given one single dose of azithromycin (1 g) . It has been four days now, and when i urinate there is still a burning sensation. I have not had any discharge at all. Before (Hours before) I have the burning feeling when I urinate, I also have a feeling of pressure/pain at my pelvis.

t recommend blind treatment of this sort. However, a single dose of azithromycin (Zithromax) is not likely to be harmful. It effectively treats or prevents syphilis and chlamydia, and probably gonorrhea -- 1 gram is on the low side for reliable activity against gonorrhea, but is still at least 90% effective.
My only other advice is that you keep those condoms happy for the next time!

s and both had negative results for everything else. My doctor gave me a single dose zithromax and when I went back three weeks later my pcr was now negative. Doctor's office said this was not a false negative and reasurred me.
My boyfriend's doctor started him with a cycle of doxy, retested about 10 days later and he still came back positive. He then took zithromax and again came back positive for chlamydia in the culture but this time negative in the urine test.
