Avatar f tn It depends what is causing the red spots. Is it mites? Is there conjunctivitis in your rabbits eyes that is causing your rabbit to scratch and thus causing self inflicted scabbing around the eyes? It really would be best to have your vet decide.
4043310 tn?1355912647 I was actually thinking about them too my friends aunt has 8 rabbits and she posted on facebook that both litters her rabbits just had passed away i was heartbroken for the poor little things!!!
Avatar f tn Ashley, tooth decay is cavities. I'm sorry, I was only joking with you. Your rabbit won't get tooth decay from not cutting its nails. I don't think you have to worry about cutting the rabbit's nail. They live in the wild without anyone tending to their nails so the little guy should be fine. I was just joking with you about the tooth decay. Take care, Ashley.
1896318 tn?1321347087 Cats and dogs never have pinworms (enterobius vermicularis), I have no idea about rabbits but, in order to get pinworms from your pets you're actually eating the eggs, which means you should make you and you family obsessed with washing your hands eery time you touch the rabbits (again, relax with cats and dogs because they can't have them). But if you're not seeing worms or eggs in your rabbits anus then the problem is probably in the humans only.
Avatar n tn Your bunny may have a corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, a foreign body in the eye, or other eye infection. He may also have an ear infection in the corresponding ear. If he has an ear infection which is painful or itchy, he could have accidently scratched his eye while trying to scratch his ear. Or, if the infection is just in the eye (with no ear involvement) the eye could have been itchy or painful and scratching could make it worse by introducing additional bacteria or irritants.
8196769 tn?1397670669 I was watching rabbid invasions and they were doing a study and had 5 white rabbits and painted one blue they laughed and made fun of the blue rabbit and made him cry well they painted another blue and the same thing happened so they dropped 3 more rabbits in and painted two more blue well they started fighting against each other blue against white they all knocked each other out and had one more and made him half blue and half white they all woke up and started fighting over the mixed rabbit he
Avatar n tn Does anyone know of a vet that will spay a female bunny for an affodable rate in the DFW Metroplex? I have pnly found one clinic that will spay, and they want almost $300 for it.
Avatar m tn Yes, it is bad. The internal parasites that ivermectin protects against, while of some concern, are not the real problem here. Wild rabbits carry a number of bacteria and organisms that can cause lots of problems for pet dogs and cats. Wild rabbits can carry leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, and several other diseases that your dog can contract from eating their feces.
Avatar n tn I would assume that since spending 10 years with rabbits without issues, I would be fine with guinea pigs, too. The rabbits have always lived in my bedroom, cages are regularly cleaned, at least twice if not thrice a week. I use kitty litter for them. Same as with the guinea pigs. The cages are washed and cleaned regularly. So, I'm wondering; is what I'm experiencing a flat out allergic reaction to the guinea pigs?
Avatar n tn Rabbits urinate large amounts of calcium. A rabbits body can form stones from the calcium that is held in the bladder prior to urination. If the stones become large enough they can block the urethra, similar to the kind of blockage that occurs in male cats. This kind of blockage can cause death within 24 hours if not relieved. Another possibility is gastrointestinal obstruction by a hairball. Hairballs in rabbits can also be deadly due to stasis of the digestive tract.
Avatar f tn Hi I am currently three days on Zithromax (treating chlamydia) and I have a light sometimes darker Orange discharge with strings of blood in them when I wipe. The consistency is stretchy and I’m pretty worried. Me and my partner (also taken Zithromax one day oral medicine) haven’t had sex since our treatment (same day), as told to wait seven days. Could it be the antibiotics fighting the infection?
Avatar f tn The urine you describe is normal, because rabbits pass a very concentrated urine that is high in calcium. Because of the high solute composition of their urine, rabbits can get urinary tract infections. Males have testicles, unless they have been neutered. They are elongated tubular structures that lie along the sides of the hind-end of the belly. You may not be able to see or feel the testicles because male rabbit's can pull the testicles up into the body cavity.
Avatar n tn If given a choice of rabbit mixes, rabbits will often pick out foods high in carbohydrates, high in simple sugars and high in fat, these foods are often extremely low in fibre. Thus they will select foods like grain, nuts, and cereal over more fibrous foods like hay. Indigestible fibre and size of the food play a big role in aiding digestion and the abrasive nature aids in the maintenance of the continuously growing cheek teeth.
Avatar n tn yes it is very safe for rabbits as well as cats....I will look up all the dosing info for you within the hour...

Avatar f tn I have rabbits and have been around them my whole pregnancy. My Dr knows I have them and has never said a thing about it so I'm going to say its just fine.
Avatar f tn I had two miscarriages. One I had sore boobs the other no symptoms. We were like rabbits all month. My abdomen is sore but my boyfriend says its just from having so much sex. I am supposed to start in a couple days.
Avatar n tn My daughter is in Macedonia. She is 13weeks pregnant and has been diagnosed with ureaplasma urealyticum/ mycooplasma hominis. Her doctor prescribed Azithromax and Levaquin but wants her to wait until she is 5 months along to take it. Is this safe?
Avatar n tn Welcome back. But I'm afraid I can't help much -- at least not with answers you will like. In the absence of symptoms such as abnormal urethral discharge, it is unlikely you have NGU (NSU) or any urethral STD, certainly none that requires treatment. Nonchlamydial NGU is probably harmless for patients and their partners alike, and there is no reliable test for it. In particular, there is no PCR test for NGU.
