Zithromax during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Zithromax during pregnancy

zithromax

Avatar f tn yup, it is 100% safe to take during pregnancy. And it's a godsend of a medication lol. I had a double ear infection, double sinus infection, and stage 1 phumonia(sp), and Zithromax had me cleared up and feeling better withen the same night of taking it. I was also worried to take it at first, so I called almost every pharmacy in town and asked about it, and I got the same answer, which is it's safe, and I even called my doc and double checked with him lmao.
Avatar f tn Has anyone bn in antibiotics during pregnancy? If so how far along were you? Had anyone taken azithromax 250??
214607 tn?1287677559 I know for a fact there are many antibiotics that are safe during pregnancy. Infact had to take some in the beginning for a uti, and bronchitis, i was hospitalized.
Avatar n tn I had strep and took a zpac during my first. Sounds like you caught it early...
Avatar n tn And you are correct--fluoroquinolones are NOT recommended during pregnancy. Gonorrhea tends to be fairly easy to treat. The CDC recommends Rocephin 125mg which is injectable(IM) and also Zithromax 1g orally (for chlamydia) too. Alternatives would be Cefixime 400mg po or Spectinomycin 2g injection (IM). Here is the link to the CDC guidelines: http://www.cdc.gov/std/Gonorrhea/arg/OR_treatment_guideline2005.
Avatar n tn i had unportected sex with someone for a couple of times, the last one was at 29th of june after about a week around July 6th i have started to feel really itchy and stingy inside my vagina but there was no discharge by the way my period was on June 5th and i am late so i have done 2 pregnancy tests at home both negative..
Avatar f tn Did your doctor know that you were pregnant when prescribing this medication? Zithromax is FDA pregnancy category B. Zithromax is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby (but it doesn't mean it's 100% safe). If you were that sick and your doctor knew you were pregnant he/she must have felt it was worth the slight risk.
Avatar n tn I took zithromax at 5 weeks with 2 pregnancies., I don't know about the levaquin, I never took that.
Avatar f tn If you have no history of heart rhythm problems before but feel some heart irregularities during the course of Zithromax, you should still check with a cardiologist to see if your ECG is normal. That is, if you are still on the drug or if not still feeling the abnormal beats. It is always good to just check to give yourself a peace of mind. Although this syndrome is really rare, you could have other common arrhythmia issues that the antibiotic has just triggered? Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn My partners in the last fifteen years have had three abortions possibly because of the presence of ureoplasma in my body. Regardless of its controversial effect on pregnancy, I am quite convinced that it does play its role. Now, my recent wife was just about to go through IVF when the gynecologist informed her of high amounts of ureoplasma in her body. Now I have to take antibiotics...but I am curious. In the course of the last theee months I have taken zithromax twice.
Avatar n tn Im 10 weeks pregnant and tested positive for Ureaplasma, Im so worried from everything I read online. Im on Zithromax 5 day dose.. and I just took it also about two weeks ago for a sinus infection... Will my baby be ok. Ive read that most doctors dont even test for it and its very common, but also miscarriage and birthing an unhealthy baby at 20 weeks is typical. I'm so afraid. Please help. ANY advise would do some good.
20922415 tn?1661860103 During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
5915949 tn?1396188227 I have known a few women who have taken a zpack during pregnancy and everything was fine. It's definitely better than suffering with an awful infection too! Good luck and feel better!
1901977 tn?1333991726 I always used the humidifier and rubbed my chest in really well with vicks rub. We can use that. Green tea with some honey, and breath in all the steam. That's all I've got. Wish I could offer some magic cure. If you end up with a fever, even low grade, call right away. I was very sick with a flu like illness at 6 weeks and I had an ear infection that wasn't going away. I was on augmentin for 10 days.
Avatar m tn They gave you Zithromax for NGU?! I took 1.5g of Zithromax about two weeks after catching my NGU/NSU and I still have urethritis... Even after 12 days of Doxycycline it still hurts. The 'D-Mannose' supplement I started a day and a half ago seems to be helping, but everytime I think it's getting better, it comes right back. It's a b'as't'ard. Maybe if I think it will get horribler and I will die soon, THEN it will magically go away.
Avatar m tn I’ve had a recurrent sore and very swollen throat with fever. Doctors say it’s viral. It’s happened about 4 times during this period, each time lasting about 4 days to come and go. I’ve also had ongoing ear ringin which has made me worried again about syphilis or other STDs, given that this happened in a third world country with higher syphillis levels than the USA.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex (I took off The condom and I put it on again during to intercourse ) and also I had handjob from her with her saliva. I read most of your answers and I am not very much worried about HIV. One day after I had severe diarrhea and fatigue. 60 hours after intercourse I had 1 g Zithromax to prevent bacterial infection. And l got vaccinated for hepatitis B. And also I had Imodium for diarrhea.
Avatar f tn s answer Azithromycin (Zithromax®) is considered a pregnancy Category B medicine by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means that it has not been studied in pregnant women. However, when studied in pregnant animals, azithromycin showed no negative effects on unborn babies. and i'm assuming that your dr knows you are pregnant or nursing?
Avatar n tn These tests came back negative. I did have a sore throat 5 days after which lasted 2 days and there is very mild burning during urination with no unusual discharge. My questions are whether or not testing orally and with urine 3 days post potential exposure is enough time for these to show up and whether the negative result can be relied upon. I know the risk of transmission from this type of activity is low but I really want to know if I can rely on the results. Thanks for your time.
Avatar f tn We each went to the clinic on the same day and were given Zithromax and waited at least 7 days (I remember us waiting longer than that but my boyfriend says it was only 7 days). I got a depo-provera shot and my IUD insertion was rescheduled for yesterday, August 2nd. When I went in, my nurse did a wet mount test to see if my white blood cell count was normal so she could know if it was safe to put in the IUD.
Avatar m tn Got tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea as precaution because I have only been with my wife, and I assume the same for her. Test were both negative but I took 1g zithromax as a precaution 11 days ago...no change in anything at all. Unsure of what it could be...my wife was sick the week prior and was given antibiotics and we did have unprotected sex as well as oral during that time. Any help would be great as I am at a complete loss....
