Zithromax and prostatitis

Common Questions and Answers about Zithromax and prostatitis

zithromax

Avatar f tn If it is sexually transmitted, Isn't prostatitis and gnu caused by chlamydia itself? By taking the Zithromax 1gm wouldn't that in itself rule out prostatitis and gnu due to chlamydia being treated?
Avatar n tn I went into a urologist and was diagnosed with potential prostatitis and was put on a 4 week course of bactrim. I had read that chlamydia and gonorrhea could be the cause of prostatitis. I had a complete STI test done and all came back negative. I talked to the original doctor and he made the comment that the Bactrim may have caused a false negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea and prescribed zithromax (1g) and a shot of rosephin as a preventative. I informed my girlfriend and her Dr.
Avatar f tn t have any bumps or discharge on penis and urination is normal. Slight swelling of foreskin is wrinkled.I have taken 1gram of zithromax and have 500 mg left in pack. Could this possibly be prostatitis? Its been a week since encounter I took zithromax yesterday. Just worried about spitting on condom after unprotected oral and then receiving protected anal . I also received unprotected oral and the tip of my penis got spit on it. I'm hoping bacterial.
Avatar m tn I went to my doctor and he did a blood test and urinalysis and also scheduled an ultrasound as well as prescribed amoxicillin for 10 days for a throat infection. Nothing turned up. A few weeks later I went back in still having flow issues, he prescribed cipro for 7 days, which helped for a little while and cleared up flow issues. In the middle of September I was prescribed a z pak for a sinus infection but now I was having some pain in my testicles.

Avatar m tn I am 26, isnt it unlikely i have chronic prostatitis? I just dont feel many of the prostatitis symptoms.. No pain in prostate, no back pain, no burning when peeing, no distupted stream, no fever, no dribbling, no nausea or vomiting. Also all the pain started about a month after sleeping with a girl, who i know for certain may have been carrying something. However all test for STDs came out negative.
Avatar f tn 3days later and its was monday i m back to my home,so i went to a local std clinic in the evening, the doctor give me a injection for gonorrhea and zithromax 1days dose,i start taking zithromax the day, when i start taking my second dose in the evening i feel a burning sensation in my penile glans and shaft but 2days later discharge go away.
Avatar m tn I already went to the STD clinic 12 days ago. I was tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. I returned to clinic for 2nd time and they examined me and decided they would try treatment for trichomoniasis as a last option and if that doesnt help then they have no more answers or help for me. My question is could it be caused by urethral herpes, E Coli, mycoplasma genitalium, trichomonas vaginalis, or prostatitis? Im 23, Male, one female sex partner.
Avatar m tn hey doc on the 16th of august i suddenly got a severe pain in my testicles, as soon as i felt that pain i sat down for like 10 min and then the pain went away completely, the next morning i would have slight pain in my testicles for awhile but then went away. I checked my testicles for any bumps to see what was causing the pain but nothing was there, but i checked on my penis and found that little pimple lookin figures were on the corona of my penis which really freaked me out!!
Avatar m tn Yes, NSU can occur non sexually. Further and more importantly, if you have prostatitis (which is not an STI) this can be confused with NSU. 2. Your partner does not need to be checked, based on what you say. 3. This is a repetitive question. I have already told you I see no reason not to have unprotected sex with your wife. 4. This is not a "bad bacteria" issue- this was also explained above. 5. For starters, you have inidcated you have prostatitis.
Avatar n tn In addition, the symptoms you describe are not consistent with chlamydial infection either, particularly the back, leg and arm pain. Prostatitis can cause some of the symptoms you describe (groin pain, urethral and testicular discomfort, low abdominal pain) but would not explain some of your other symptoms such as arm or leg pain. Bottom line, this is not chlamydia.
Avatar m tn Well the problem is I have taken Doxy, Rocephin, Flagyl and even now I'm on Cipro and I still have a little CLEAR (not colored) discharge, I guess it's NGU or just Urethritis but it didn't/hasn't cleared up, why? So I'm wondering why these four meds have not taken away the slight DC. Will Azithromycin help me at this point? I had Chlamydia and Gonorrhea test last week that were both negative, huuuuuh, just really frustrating I want the DC to go away it is really annoying.
Avatar m tn Since i have unprotected oral, doctor give me zithromax 2g and fasigyn 2g. Four days after the std test (clamydia, gonorrorhea, candida, hsv, hiv), all results came back negative, but urine pus cells is 8-10. But my penis continue to have a tingling and sometimes burning sensation. When i masturbate, my penis tip will sore. Why does my penis appearance change? Why does my penis still having pain and tingling when doctor already give me Zithromax 2g and Fasigyn 2g?
Avatar n tn Oh, and I tested negative for chlamydia and gonnorrhea and a urinalysis came back fine but showed small trace amounts of blood....
Avatar n tn They gave me a prescription of Cipro (one pill) and 4 zithromax pills. I called a week later and was told that I had NGU (negative for gon., positive for chlamydia). Now, I was a little shocked considering I've only ever had sex with one person in my entire life and have been with that person for 11 years. So I informed my partner of what happened and advised he get tested as well (haven't gotten results back yet).
Avatar m tn do you have an STD or not; if so, which one; and if not, what is it? Urethritis and prostatitis (non-STD) symptoms overlap and these conditions can be difficult to distinguish from each other. STDs rarely cause the subtle sort of symptoms you describe. Mildly symptomatic urethral infections usually have scant discharge, not a burning sensation, and the normal appearance by a trained practitioner plus the negative chlamydia and gonorrhea tests also are reassuring.
Avatar m tn it went away but came back, so possibly the Zithromax is not strong enough to eliminate possible MG. Presumably if it was MG then 1g Zithromax was doing no good & it was now resistant against it. However I then was given a 3rd 1g & it went away for 4years. So is MG ruled out based on this as i didn't take Moxi or 5days of Zithromax prior to the 4years clear spell? Note: Doxy was also taken prior to the 4year clear spell but this isn't good against MG.
Avatar m tn I would particularly notice it during a straining bowl movement. I had been constantly touching and examining them and was constantly peeing and suffering from a great deal of anxiety. I was constantly tensed up and had some leg and left side abdominal pain. A week later A scan showed possible epididymitis on my left testicle. Despite prior to the scan I prob felt more pain in my right testicle. I was then retreated with Zithromax and Cipro.
Avatar f tn Six months ago I tested positive for Chlamydia, which I estimate was 1-2 months after infection. I was prescribed Zithromax and the symptoms went away, except for discomfort in my lower pelvic area. I went back to see the doc for that, and he suggested the Chlamydia likely entered the prostate, diagnosed me with prostatitis and put me on two weeks of Doxycycline. Since then the symptoms have remained, i.e.
4801019 tn?1359345412 He almost died and was in the hospital a week and it took him all summer to feel better.
Avatar f tn But what r they ? Is it becoz of Prostatitis ? Coz I'm just 20. I'm a sportsman, this is affecting my career and daily life.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks later I started to have urinary issues and went to my physician and he gave me 1 gram of Zithromax and 10 days worth of Vibramycin to clear up any possible infection of gonnocual and chlamydia bacteria before the urine and blood tests came back, which was negative by the way, also about a month and a half later I stared having a problem of excessive frequent urination: so bad sometimes that I would go to the restroom to urinate and then 2 minutes later I would have to go again and again
Avatar m tn I went to local public health a month later, tested for Gon/Clamidia, Hiv, Syphlis, all negative,UA was clean no white blood cells, nitrates okay treated with one time treatment of zithromax, and a shot of rocephin. Symptons never subsided waited until third week of April, and visited GP, She thought problem to be a prostate issue and recommended long term antibiotics 6 weeks of dox twice a day, and back for a follow up.
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. The urologist just guessed at prostatitis and gave me levaquin which I have taken for 14 days and no results. I'm currently on my last Zithromax and still nothing has cleared. Is there any lab other than urology that can test for ureaplasma? M. genitallium came back negative about a week ago. The health dept. cleared me from having any other STD's. I would assume if I'm feeling a urethra burn it would be transmittable?
