Statins work in the liver and every commercial I have seen advises not to take if you have liver problems. Zetia works in the intestines. Was the Zetia working? If my memory serves me correctly, MikeS is taking statins and he had a TP. He is far more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and hopefully he will see this post and give his input. Zetia is part of a class of drugs called cholesterol absorption inhibitors.

Hi, my co-worker, one of the very few people I have told about this Chiari thing to, came up to me today and said last night she saw a commercial on TV about Chiari - twice. Has anyone else seen anything like this? I can't watch TV much anymore because it causes really bad headaches so I really have no idea what is on out there. But I had never heard of Chiari until just a few weeks ago from searching up terms on my MRI report!

I am presently taking Zetia every other day. I also take Omega 3/6, vitamin A,E. With Zetia interfere with the absorption of the benefits of these supplements and if so what can I do to get the full benefit of Zetia and the supplements, if anything. Ar there any other supplements that should be avoided while taking Zetia? Many thanks.

Do scary and I was reading on here and some lady said her sister died of a heart tumor and had every heart test and ended up dying because they never caught the heart tumor. Hi, I do not have a fibro or CFS dx, but have chronic Lyme which has a good amount of symptom overlap. While undiagnosed, I was treated with meds including Neurontin and Lyrica. I recently saw a new TV commercial for Lyrica. I've never liked these commercials as they seem to minimize the problem and severity of fibro by showing patients resuming active lives thanks to this medication. One I saw in the past depicted a woman working in a bakery.

I was layin in bed, watching tv and a commercial for kmart came on advertising joe boxer sleepwear. Most of the commercial was a group of like 5 pregnant women dancing, all i could think watching it was S C R E W THAT!!!!

So tonight especially while watching TV with my daycare kids and all the commercials for food are driving me crazy. I want all of it. Not only do we not have hardly any of the fast food restraunts but I am also broke right now but I am sure not dragging all 5 kids to get my cravings. At that point, our doctor added 10 mg Zetia to his regimen because of elevated LDL particles. Also, my husband stopped all alcohol (he was a social drinker, around 2-3 glasses of wine per week) and NSAID's. A month later most of his LFT's were elevated, ALT 79, GGTP 178, ALP 113 & AST on upper end of normal at 40. The doctor said to stop the Lipitor...but stay on the Zetia...... and retest in 1-1/2 weeks which he did this past Sept. 30th.

Crestor is a statin (rosuvastatin calcium) only, Vytorin is a statin (Simvastatin) with Zetia (ezetimibe). I have been having some highCholesterol level for 3 years now. I was on medication in and out as I develop side effects to the statin drugs. I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person.

Vytorin is a combination of Simvastatin and Zetia so you are taking the same thing without the Zetia so you should not see any changes in how your body reacts.

Incidentally, unrelated to GA, I started taking Zetia for cholesterol about 3 years ago and soon thereafter developed a severe chronic cough that nearly drove me crazy (and everyone around me!) I saw several doctors and was given many different medicines.

Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.

Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?

My 8 year old son saw a commercial on television last Monday that has resulted in his demonstrating behavior that has us concerned. The commercial is for a product called Health Alert and it shows an elderly lady laying on the floor of her bathroom after falling while getting out of the shower. She says "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up". The very next day my son became so fearful when his 10 year old sister went to take a shower that he could not control his emotions.

Recently on the TV I have seen a commercial about a syndrome called PBA. I don't exactly know what it stands for but it says it affects people with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Brain Trauma or MS. From the way it described on TV it is the sudden uncontrollable laughing or crying for no reason. Can anyone tell me what PBA is and is it fixable or controllable with medication.
