Common Questions and Answers about Zetia optical

zetia

Avatar n tn I am presently taking Zetia every other day. I also take Omega 3/6, vitamin A,E. With Zetia interfere with the absorption of the benefits of these supplements and if so what can I do to get the full benefit of Zetia and the supplements, if anything. Ar there any other supplements that should be avoided while taking Zetia? Many thanks.
Avatar f tn At that point, our doctor added 10 mg Zetia to his regimen because of elevated LDL particles. Also, my husband stopped all alcohol (he was a social drinker, around 2-3 glasses of wine per week) and NSAID's. A month later most of his LFT's were elevated, ALT 79, GGTP 178, ALP 113 & AST on upper end of normal at 40. The doctor said to stop the Lipitor...but stay on the Zetia...... and retest in 1-1/2 weeks which he did this past Sept. 30th.
Avatar f tn Crestor is a statin (rosuvastatin calcium) only, Vytorin is a statin (Simvastatin) with Zetia (ezetimibe). Statins work by controlling the production of cholesterol in your liver while Zetia works by preventing cholesterol to be absorbed in your digestive system. Of the two, Crestor is the stronger of the two. In addition, recent trials have shown that adding Zetia does not improve the performance of Vytorin over Simvastatin alone.
Avatar n tn I have been having some highCholesterol level for 3 years now. I was on medication in and out as I develop side effects to the statin drugs. I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person.
Avatar f tn Vytorin is a combination of Simvastatin and Zetia so you are taking the same thing without the Zetia so you should not see any changes in how your body reacts.
Avatar n tn Incidentally, unrelated to GA, I started taking Zetia for cholesterol about 3 years ago and soon thereafter developed a severe chronic cough that nearly drove me crazy (and everyone around me!) I saw several doctors and was given many different medicines.
Avatar m tn Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.
Avatar n tn Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?
Avatar m tn Statins work in the liver and every commercial I have seen advises not to take if you have liver problems. Zetia works in the intestines. Was the Zetia working? If my memory serves me correctly, MikeS is taking statins and he had a TP. He is far more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and hopefully he will see this post and give his input. Zetia is part of a class of drugs called cholesterol absorption inhibitors.
Avatar m tn Anyone here know anything about zetia and its affect on the thyroid and or levo absorption? I have read it may affect absorption and the rx monograph says talk tp your doctor if you have thyroid disorders. He knows I am on synthroid, but I am curious how this drug affects it.
950978 tn?1246129559 I was diagnosed in having a fatty liver. I take Zocor 40mg and Zetia 10mg. My ALT level is 120 and AST is 52. My question is should I control how much I drink or not drink at all?
Avatar n tn With numbers as high as yours, you need some medical interaction as lifestyle changes alone will not get your levels low enough to be healthy. You could try getting some exercise, but I doubt if that alone would do it, even with a healthy diet. It is unfortunate that you are in the small minority of people (approx 1% of users) that have adverse side effects from statin use, but not all statins are the same.
Avatar n tn t find the right medicine...Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
Avatar f tn also be aware that the big decline will be at 48-72 weeks with your hbv mutations and hbeag negative the difference of fibroscan between 4 and 6 is meanless, you have nothing to worry you may try to see if intf response can be increased by ezetimibe (zetia) or smvastatin.
Avatar n tn How are you? Glomerular filtration rate or its approximation of the creatinine clearance are measured whenever renal disease is suspected or careful dosing of nephrotoxic drugs is required. The normal ranges of GFR, adjusted for body surface area for males is 70 ± 14 mL/min/m2 (56-84) . Risk factors for kidney disease include diabetes, high blood pressure, family history and older age. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn After electrograms, changes in cholestrol medication,( lipitor, crestor,), now on zetia my tests keep coming in high.Outside of my lower extremities aches, which I credit to arthritis, I feel fine. Both doctors, arthritis and cardiologist, keep drawing blood with these rates still climbing. After a year of this circle, and being a believer in preventive mediciene, my concern is should I be concerne?
Avatar m tn m asking because in my whole life, i have never had a registered optician or any of the staff in a optical shop talk about optical center or do anything to make sure the center of the lens is over the center of my eye (unless you are referring to PD when making the lenses).
Avatar f tn Anyone ever been dx with optical migraines (with visual disturbances)????? I Also have a LOT of dizziness and headaches(which I don't consider horrible migraine like but there you know) ! Can this be linked to thyroid issues???
Avatar n tn Right now I am invloved in developing artifical vision for those whose vision is affected because of damge in optical nerves.I am trying to replace the damged ones with nano optical fibers. All I need is a good tutorial or a description of how important the optical nerves are, how and where are they connected and how does the brain identifies color. If you can help me with the following, it will be great. my mail I.
Avatar m tn She went back to the hospital where doctors did many tests and MRIs and they diagnosed her with optical neuritis. They said that it could be of the first symptoms of MS. She's been getting a lot medication, but so far no results at all. She can't work, or go anywhere by herself. I am devastated and don't know how to help her at this point. She is coming to the US next week and i hope there is something doctors can do her here. Please, any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have a history of optical migrains. I'd have one to two a year. But lately I've been getting 2-3 a week. I don't know what is causing them. I had mentioned it to my opthamologist but she didn't seem it was anything to worry about. In fact she took me off Betoptic drops. I had been seeing a different Opthamologist for years but because of the long wait to get in to see him, I switched doctors. I was suffering "dry" eye a year ago and now it has returned, also.
Avatar f tn Hi, this morning I was using my lighted magnified mirror for a few minutes and while doing so I experience a zigzag line in my right eye which lasted for a minute, if that. I had this happen before back in the '90's. I believe this is called an optical migrain....do you think the light could have had something to do with the zigzag experience. Also, two years ago I had a vetrious detachment (spelling?) .... both eyes within a month of each other.
Avatar n tn my dad is blind for the past 13 years AION-damage to optical nerve im willing to try anything any help?
Avatar n tn My (74 year old) father currently is taking these medications together Pravastatin Sodium 80mg, Zetia 10 mg, Isosorbide Mnonitrate 30 mg, Metoprolol tartrate 50 mg, Plavix 75 mg, Amlodipine Besylate 10 mg, Aspirin (nsaid) 81 mg low dose The doctor told him his liver count is up 66 and the lower range is 64. Would any of these drugs or combination of these drugs make liver count increase?
Avatar m tn OCT (optical coherent tomography) uses optical resonance not magnetic resonance so there is no radiation produced.
Avatar n tn I had a HIV 1 & 2 SALIVARY TEST and result came back as NEGATIVE. In the report, it was also mentioned that HIV OPTICAL DENSITY = 0.035 and in the corner it is mentioned < 0.280. My question is what is HIV optical density? what are those values. If the result is negative the value should be zero instead of 0.035 right? somebody who have knowledge about this, pls clear my doubt. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if Optical Migraines are related to MS in some way? Lately, I have had quite a few of them with the most recent being late yesterday afternoon. It seems that the Optical Migrain affects my left eye. I have a lesion on my right temporal lobe. When I went to bed last night I was having stabbing pain in the area of this lesion. Then, this morning I woke up and my right ear is muffled and kind of roaring.
Avatar n tn I was placed on Zetia but since going on Medicare I find it too expensive to purchase. Any suggestions for other medications would be appreciated.
