Well my husband and i were one of those families and we were taking part in the lawsuit in hopes of getting a settlement well..... We finally after almost 3 years got our settlement check today!!! $3,000!!

I am presently taking Zetia every other day. I also take Omega 3/6, vitamin A,E. With Zetia interfere with the absorption of the benefits of these supplements and if so what can I do to get the full benefit of Zetia and the supplements, if anything.
Ar there any other supplements that should be avoided while taking Zetia?

At that point, our doctor added 10 mg Zetia to his regimen because of elevated LDL particles. Also, my husband stopped all alcohol (he was a social drinker, around 2-3 glasses of wine per week) and NSAID's. A month later most of his LFT's were elevated, ALT 79, GGTP 178, ALP 113 & AST on upper end of normal at 40. The doctor said to stop the Lipitor...but stay on the Zetia...... and retest in 1-1/2 weeks which he did this past Sept. 30th.
Crestor is a statin (rosuvastatin calcium) only, Vytorin is a statin (Simvastatin) with Zetia (ezetimibe). Statins work by controlling the production of cholesterol in your liver while Zetia works by preventing cholesterol to be absorbed in your digestive system.
Of the two, Crestor is the stronger of the two. In addition, recent trials have shown that adding Zetia does not improve the performance of Vytorin over Simvastatin alone.
I have been having some highCholesterol level for 3 years now. I was on medication in and out as I develop side effects to the statin drugs. I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person.
Incidentally, unrelated to GA, I started taking Zetia for cholesterol about 3 years ago and soon thereafter developed a severe chronic cough that nearly drove me crazy (and everyone around me!) I saw several doctors and was given many different medicines.
The past couple days theyve had lawsuit commercials on about you can get a settlement if your baby was born with birth defects if taking zofran while preg. I yelled for my hubby to come see it too.
Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack
My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.
Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I mentioned this to my DR and he said I need the drugs because of my High Cholesterol. What do you think?
Mal-Practice Lawyers usually work on a portion of the settlement. A settlement is better than nothing. Of course, once you have taken an aggressive action against a Doctor, it is difficult to get another one to risk fixing your problem... because they don't want to get sued either. Tough nut to crack... Try communicating with him first and see what happens. Good luck.
Statins work in the liver and every commercial I have seen advises not to take if you have liver problems. Zetia works in the intestines.
Was the Zetia working?
If my memory serves me correctly, MikeS is taking statins and he had a TP. He is far more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and hopefully he will see this post and give his input.
Zetia is part of a class of drugs called cholesterol absorption inhibitors.
BUT, im mad because i know the dr will tell my dad. And, i cant have that. I dont want my family knowing. Do i have any course of a lawsuit? What do i do? I want to talk to my fam dr but im embarrassed becasue i feel like he wont understand and he will look at me as a dope addict. I never dr shopped, ever. Never.
Anyone here know anything about zetia and its affect on the thyroid and or levo absorption? I have read it may affect absorption and the rx monograph says talk tp your doctor if you have thyroid disorders.
He knows I am on synthroid, but I am curious how this drug affects it.
If you have a strong enough case then some lawyers will wait to get paid until your lawsuit is over. I believe they call it consignment? I'm not sure if that is the right word. It might also help if you go to your local newspaper and news station. At least you would be puting the word out like you did in this forum. I truley am sorry for your lose, naleca and i know it will be a brutal process so the question is, Is it worth fighting for. That is totally up to you.
Not sure what state you live in. My attorney here in Georgia told me that 25% was the max she could charge. ( I was willing to give her more to take the case, for she is GREAT). I have a work injury to R. Knee. W/C paying. Neck injury in 11/07. Denied since I had neck surgery in '98 Crazy huh? I am in the same boat as you. I was wondering what the settlement for knee injury wit a % perm disability raring.
