2132042 tn?1335664150 and was told I had Undeterminded Colitis and refered to a specialist. Had another colonoscopy in Apr and now being told I have Ischemic Colitis, and getting an MRA done next. So we'll see what that turns out. I guess why I shared that with you is just don't get down, there are others out here that share in your pain. I will tell you, I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs except the many I have been perscribed. To be fare though my Dr.
Avatar n tn I have had several bouts of ischemic colitis and about 13 years ago a doctor did a heart catheter on me and said I had a little heart disease but nothing to worry about. Could the two be related?
Avatar n tn I am new to this forum. Three years ago I had ischemic colitis. Last week it came back with a vengence. Terrible abdominal pain and diarreha and blood. They did a abdominal CT scan with contrast, and it was confirmed. I wanted a colonoscopy done to see to what extent the damage was. The doctor said the CT scan was enough to show I had it, I would feel more comfortable if I had the colonoscopy to see just how bad it was.
1247633 tn?1268763294 A colonoscopy was performed and the GI dr came back and told me that I had Ischemic Colitis. A couple of days later another GI dr came in and stated that there was no way that I could have Ischemic Colitis that I just did not fit the profile. Apparently there is something going on with my colon but no one can seem to agree to anything. They put me on Flagyl, Levaquin, Phenghan, Percocet, along with other things. I am almost constantly in pain and stay neauseated.
Avatar f tn Today she went to her cardiologist because the colon surgeon said she had a-fib during surgery and thought it could be a cause of clots that caused the ischemic colitis. She has a pace maker and they down loaded the info and said there is no A-fib recorded on the pace maker. They said it could not have been a-fib during surgery or it would show up on the pace maker. So, if it isn't a-fib induced clotting then what else could cause the obstruction of blood flow to the colon?
Avatar n tn I just recently had a laproscopic appendectomy and 17 days later I find out that I have a case of ischemic colitis. I am 27 years old, healthy, and have never had any vascular issues or blood clotting issues. The ischemic colitis was determined from a biopsy taken during a colonoscopy. I have found on a few online sites that abdominal surgery is occasionally followed by ischemic colitis.

Avatar n tn Then last week the ischemic colitis diagnose. After playing on the computer I see what fainting and ischemic colitis have in common is blood flow. I don't want my doctors or myself ignoring what to me seems like an obvious similarity. Yet, so far they are saying I am just having bad luck. I have managed to lose 35 pounds and am off my HBP med. My family has a strong history of heart problems and strokes. I don't want to over react but I also don't want blinders on.
Avatar m tn A large amount of blood was present so they ordered a Colonoscopy and found what they believed to be ischemic colitis. This was treated with Prednisone? and something else which escapes me at present. For the next 9 months I was in and out of hospital with varying degrees of pain and usually the same symptoms.
Avatar f tn My Dad has colitis and I have now developed some symptoms of colitis. I had a colonoscopy and my doctor said he thought he saw some colitis. Well the nurse called back today to say my biopsies were normal. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. My question is could I have mild unlcertive colitis but have it not show up in my biopsies?
Avatar f tn Has anyone that has gastricparesis tried Zelnorm? It was working for me and than they took it off the market. My doctor just suggested a drug from Canada named domperidone. Does anyone have any experience with this drug. I tried Reglan and couldn't handle the side affects. Erithamyacin made me break out in a rash. Right now I depend on Zofran for the throwing up and sometimes it doesn't help.
Avatar f tn Inflammatory diseases of the colon which can present as UC include Crohn’s disease, ischemic colitis, radiation colitis, eosinophilic colitis, colorectal cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and allergic reactions to medications such as mesalamine products, NSAIDs, and antibiotics.
Avatar n tn ve had a total of 5 episodes of syncope and subsequent hospitalizations for ischemic colitis that started after the fainting. I have also had 'near syncope' without colitis. The pacemaker has been checked and is working great - the fainting episodes may be vasovagal.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, no. I looked up interstitial cystitis and that doesn't sound right based on the symptoms I've had. I've adjusted my diet considerably, cutting out broccoli, cauliflower, raw cabbage and most other raw vegetables. I've also cut out most dairy products. I haven't had an attack in quite a while, but I'm extremely cautious about what I eat.
Avatar m tn It may be an inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, IBS etc), or ischemic colitis, infectious colitis, autoimmune colitis, microscopic colitis or allergic colitis. The treatment thus includes antibiotics, corticosteroids, immune modulators, surgery, diet modification etc depending on the type of colitis. For diet modification, you can identify the triggers by logging in your food and symptoms and correlating them. At your age the chances of cancer are minimal.
Avatar f tn Thumbprinting may also be seen with ischemic bowel or mucosal/submucosal hemorrhage. In your case, it is possible you had infectious and/or inflammatory colitis in the past and the active process has since resolved. You can discuss further with your gastroenterologist. If symptoms persist, consider repeat CT enterography, or alternatively MRI enterography.
Avatar n tn I have IBS and have taken Bentyl and Zelnorm, my doctor took me off the Zelnorm because he said, it was a dangerous drug. Is this true ?
Avatar f tn since I have not stopped using the bathroom, all day and throughout the night, if i eat or drink anything I have to run to the bathroom within minutes and I have pains and bloatiness in my stomache. this has never happened before when I take the medication. I am afraid to leave the house and I have lost 5 lbs. any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Perhaps more importantly, shortly after the shin swelling/discoloration event I was also diagnosed with a Ischemic Colitis and Pseudomembranous Colitis wherein I was treated with two series of Prednisone starting with 80mg per day, weaning the dosage down over the following 6-weeks. After the initial series of Prednisone my symptoms eventually returned wherein it became necessary to repeat the series again.
Avatar m tn Coumadin and Plavix was d/c for a few days for the test, and ischemic colitis was confirmed. Slightly weak from the now 10 day hospital stay, d/c to sub-acute rehab was ordered. Coumadin was not on the transfer order and I raised this fact as a concern to the nurse at rehab admission. Mom stroked the next day. I have had 5 different conflicting reports about what was to happen regarding Coumadin, ranging from total d/c, to hold for 1 week, to hold for 1 day, to resume.
Avatar f tn stool softeners need to be taken. I just LOVED Zelnorm, and was very upset when it was taken away. I've been using an herbal colon cleanse tablet every night, but one is apparently NOT enough. Two are too much. I was not aware there are drugs available for IBS with constipation since Zelnorm. Once I was given IBS meds for DIARRHEA, and THAT was disastrous. I want to thank you for your input and making me realize the obvious: my current methods aren't working! I NEEDED TO HEAR THAT!
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago went to the ER thinking I had food poisoning, it turned out to be ischemic colitis, which is caused from low blood flow to vessels leading to colon, cause can be a clot. My GI doctor wanted cardiologist to start me on blood thinner, even though I was bleeding he would not take me off the aspirin, was in for 8 days.
