Avatar m tn I'm a stay at home mom with a similar (but not exact) experience to your daughter, so take my suggestion for what it's worth. I had chronic hives since childhood. It was undiagnosed until my 20s. My new allergist said people with dermagraphism (my form of chronic hives) was frequently a side symptom of an auto-immune disease. He tested me for 6 different ones, and I came back positive for Hashimotos (my immune system attacks my thyroid).
Avatar f tn Welcome to the club if it gets any worse take oatmeal baths and take one Zyrtec and Zantac throughout the day. And yes I said Zantac, I have the PUPPS rash and that's how mine started and I got diagnosed just a few weeks ago! There is no cure except to deliver the baby. I hope I'm wrong, because it is miserable! Mine is on my belly, arms, thighs, and sides.
1517808 tn?1290813790 Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well. My doctor also told me about Plaquenil, which was a medication for lupus patients but also works well with my condition. However, the Plaquenil is known for some side effects that could lead to retinal spotting, so regular eye exams are required and he recommends not taking it for extensive periods of time. I hope this helps!
Avatar m tn I am now taking 2 mulitvitamins a day and 1000 IU of Vitamin D along with 6 Zyrtec and 2 Zantac and I am still breaking out every day! I have only been taking the vitamins for a week, so I am seeing if that will work eventually, but this is so frustrating! Help!!!!!
Avatar f tn It has only gotten worse, I have gone under many tests that all come back negative, thyroid, lupis, autoimmune, etc... I am currently taking 1 Zantac 150 mg in the morning and night, 1 allegra in the morning, 2 zyrtec at night, and benedryl every 4 hours. I can not go outside in the day time, I can not workout, I can not eat hot/spicy foods, I can not get heated up or over heated, and I can't even have sex without getting hives. The pain is the worst when I have sex.
1102308 tn?1257806648 A combination of beta blockers, Zyrtec and Zantac helped with my hives.
Avatar f tn As the dr suggested, you could try an OTC antihistamine to start with (they are cheaper). I would recommend Zyrtec (or its generic). Afrin is the original name brand for oxymetazoline. Never use it for longer than 3 days at a time and then off for three days. You can rotate if needed. There are a number of other meds a dr can prescribe to help control your symptoms if you really suspect allergies to be the cause.
Avatar n tn I got diagnosed with PUPPS and they told me to take one Zyrtec and one Zantac at the same time during the day and that helped a lot. Honestly my mom made me some homeopathic anti itch spray and it took the majority of it away! Try that!
Avatar f tn I have tried Prilosec reglan Zantac Zyrtec At one point was out back on Paxil then tried Lexapro. This began again 2 weeks ago and I have lost 16 lbs with no appetite and inability to eat a whole meal. I go to bed fearing that the cycle will return again every morning and sure enough it does. I have considered going back on Lexapro or paxil so I can maybe eliminate the anxiety It feels like I have awful epigastric pain that awakens me with the trembling usually around 3am.
Avatar n tn Xyzol 5mg/2x and/or Zyrtec 10mg/2x, Zantac 150mg/2x, Atarax 25-50mg/4x. Needless to stay these medications have turned me into a walking zombie. Since western medicine has failed me, I enlisted the help of a Chiropractor who also practices muscle testing and Neuro-Emotional Techinique. I was placed on the following homeopathic drugs: Formula 303 3tblts/ 3x, Antronex 4tblts/2x and NET allergy spray 6sprays/3x.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
Avatar m tn I am 13 years old and I was diagnosed with Chronic Urticaria, too, a few months ago. I have had it since about February though. I don't know if you have been treated yet since this post is old, but I'm on a combination of prednisone, Zantac, Zyrtec, zafirlukast, and Hydroxyzine. I don't think there is a cure, but there is help. I'm receiving shots of Xolair which has helped people, but so far it hasn't helped me so I might try Plaquenil. I hope you have gotten better.
Avatar n tn He complains about his head, eyes, stomach. I took him to GI specialist and they prescribed zantac he also takes zyrtec for allergies. I am not able to concentrate at work, not sure how well daycare does with his sugar levels, afraid he is there and not feeling well. I am wondering if there is some kind of short term financial assistance i can apply for in order to stay at home with my son until his sugars are under control?
975357 tn?1252704723 I made an appointment with an allergist a couple weeks ago, at the time the receptionist told me to stop all antihistamines 1 week prior to visit. I stopped all my h1 blockers (zyrtec, benadryl etc.) but I stupidly continued to take my pepcid (famotidine) and forgot that this is also in the class of antihistamines known as h2 blockers (includes tagamet, pepcid, zantac etc.
745313 tn?1323142298 My GI suggested that I use a combination of Zyrtec and Zantac. Zantac is actually a heartburn med but the combination of the two of them is supposed to be really good for the itching...it did help me a lot. Keep using the Aveeno lotions of Cetaphil lotion and Aveeno oatmeal baths helped me too. Be choosy with the types of clothing you wear...slippery materials feel much better. Use the cortisone cream sparingly and, in fact, consider diluting it with your regular lotions.
Avatar f tn Ive been suffering with a red, blotchy neck and chest with anxiety for 10+ years. It typically comes on with anxiety, sex, and occasionally exercise. The most problematic of the times are with anxiety and stressful situations. Interviews, talking to someone of authority (like a manager or physician), presentations, embarrassing moments, etc. I can feel my heart beat fast, my brain is foggy and I get forgetful, I feel dizzy, sometimes I have chest pain and see black spots.
1654058 tn?1407159066 I used Zyrtec (OTC...which is similar to Atarac Rx) during the day and Benadryl at night. I also cut all the tags out of my clothing and wore silky, slippery material and ditched the bra when I could by covering up with a jacket. I would have to later up with lotion 2-3 times a day (Eucerin body cream or Aveeno oatmeal lotion) and I would take an oatmeal bath as often as needed...at least once a day. It was a chore fitting all this in all while working full time.
Avatar f tn ve had blood and skin tests done for allergies, but they have all come back perfectly normal -- no allergies. I am on Zyrtec and Zantac right now, but my body is becoming accustomed to it and the swelling and hives are worsening. It is a very irritating and unpredictable problem and I feel that I need a doctor who will take the time to investigate this.
Avatar m tn I have been breaking out with hives on my hands and feet for a couple years now. after family doctor visits, a skin doctor visit and finally an algernist. I now know I am alergic to many things - the worst being dust mites and certain kinds of molds. I have always had algeries to most the rest of the things that I am alergic too. just now in the last two years with the advent in my life of my newest pet dog according to my algernist the dog is the final trigger that got the hives coming on.
