Zantac used for allergies

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac used for allergies

zantac

Avatar n tn Your dog could have anything from lactose intolerance to food allergies, to a touch of a gastrointestinal bug (stomach virus), to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Keep a food diary and try to determine if there is a correlation between something that she has eaten and vomiting. It can take up to 12 hours or more for her to show symptoms. So something that she has eaten the day before could also be the culprit.
Avatar m tn Just one word on Zantac it is used in my opinion too much on young children for allergies, it has many side effects especially diarreha , I have also seen emotional problems in children taking it on a regular basis ..
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with chronic gastritis. Symptoms are - acidic horrible taste in my mouth as what started this, occaisonal mucous in throat that makes me cough, iron belly with slight occaisonal burning. Started taking Pantaloc and than Zantac. Pantaloc caused me to run to the bathroom. Zantac seems better but doesn't really do much for the acid taste in the mouth and rarely helps the stomach. Endoscopy was doen to confirm the gastritis. I guess what I really want to know is.....
Avatar f tn My daughter kept aspirating so they had to thickenher milk by adding rice cereal to her formula and also giving her zantac. Zantac works well for acid reflux she's able to eat without spitting up. Everything will be fine .
Avatar f tn I am waiting for a test result to see if I have Hpylori, I am allergic to the antibiotics suggested but okay with amoxicillin, can it be cured with this anti biotic (alone) and zantac as I'm also a rare person and allergic to ppi's?!? What are my options? I'm so tired of this pain and very worried!
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the GERD forum. GERD can be the result of untreated allergies....and may not be the main issue....some see a case of GERD and think treat that and the other issues go away....but you need to know which started first.... Zantac is a histamine blocker so that is good to start with...but you may need an antihistamine to help with the allergies...Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor and may not be the med for you . I don't understand taking both....
Avatar f tn Yeah its not pleasant at all when you first take it but I'm 39 weeks and having my baby in a couple days so I'm not going to buy any more meds for that! I used to take zantac 150mg and it works wonders if you'd like to try that!
Avatar n tn There is a lab called "Elisa/ACT" that can do allergy testing with blood only. They can check for allergies to foods, food additives & colorings, molds, environmental toxins, toxic metals, herbs, medications, pet dander, etc. However, your insurance may or may not cover the testing. My insurance did pay for the testing. The lab has a website if you are interested... you can find them via google.
692001 tn?1236562462 Wow!! I have taken zantac for about 10+ years . About 3-4 years ago I noticed After eating dinner & taking my second zantac , I felt like my throat was closing , which of course gave me a mild panic attack . It was also hard for me to breathe after eating & I assumed something I ate didn't agree with me . I would always take a breathing treatment as I also have emphysema . I took the rapid heartbeat as a side effect of the breathing treatment .
Avatar n tn Did you ever try taking acid reflux meds or GERD meds? this may be a reason for it. Try and let us know.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
Avatar n tn My doctor is telling me to give my 7 year old Zantac for a kidney infection, but I can't find any information on whether or not this is a proper treatment- I just want to be sure??
Avatar m tn Have you got any other sign or symptom that is there on eating or drinking a particular food?Food allergies can be confirmed by skin tests and food challenge tests for which you need to consult an allergist. Stiff joints and bone aches can be due to the high uric acid for which you are already taking allopurinol. So it can be due to gout or arthritis.Bloating and burning sensation in the stomach is mostly due to gastritis or acid reflux.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
Avatar m tn I have been having digestive issues for at least a year now, following a bout of stomach flu, followiong that I started taking Zantac (which I believe gave me food allergies). The symptoms I had for a while were different and not as bad as now, now I have malabsorption.

Avatar f tn Here is a web site for your condition, www.uthscsa.edu/oto/lpr.asp. I had this same problem for many years and fixed it by changing my diet. I eat a low glycemic high fiber diet, 5 small meals a day, low fat and good fat only, drink lots of water. I have little to no alcohol, spicy foods, greasy fatty foods, acidic foods and caffeine. Also you may want to take digestive enzymes with every meal. I found that this helps greatly. I do not know if you should sing or not.
Avatar f tn Regarding allergies, my lab work did not reveal remarkable allergies. My doctor said symptoms were likely reflux, suggest Rx zantac. I opted to not start the med at the same time I started levothyroxine because if I'd had a negative reaction to one or other, it would be more difficult to sort out which. Iin a response in chat, you said acid blockers decrease stomach acid and possibly the absorption of levothyroxine.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED 150MG OF ZANTAC AND ALSO 40MG OF NEXIUM DAILY FOR RELIEF OF POST NASAL MUCUS CONGESTION. ARE THE COMBINATION EXCESSIVE?
284738 tn?1283106819 Get the book, WHY STOMACH ACID IS GOOD FOR YOU. Spitting up is pretty normal for most babies up to 6 months. Also agreed that reflux can be triggered by allergies like in cow's milk formula and soy. A good one if you have to go with formula is neocate or nannycare goat milk formula. Reflux meds do not correct the problem but make it worse. The problem is poor digestion...he needs MORE acid, NOT less!
Avatar f tn Hi, This could be a long list of things including allergies, blood sugars, nerve issues, ulcers etc. I am afraid I cannot narrow it down, so you should speak at length with your doctor when you can. Take care.
