Avatar n tn m just looking for advice and to see if anyone else is going through what i am. I was Diagnosed with chronic Cholinergic Urticaria. I cant exercise, i cant even go outside in the winter, i break out in hives every single day and every time i do, my throat gets real scratchy, and really gets be scared. On top of that i'm also highly allergic to dust, molds, pollen, dander, and almost every other airborne allergens. So when i dont get hives from CU, i get them from the airborne allergens.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, My name is Krista. I am 25 years old. About 9 months ago I was diagnosed with CIU. Around the time I started getting the hives, I also had a low grade fever and a "general ill" feeling for about 3 weeks before. A little medical background: I also have anxiety, panic disorder, depression, and HSV II "of other site" (meaning i get it on my leg). I first was started on Cetirizine, 10 mg. When that didn't help, I was started on a whole handful of pills.
Avatar f tn Well in April of this year I started breaking out in hives everywhere..so I saw a Dermatologist who said that the hives are urticaria and to see an Allergist. So I saw an Allergist who has determined that the hives are not caused by an allergy and wants to run blood work to determine if there is an autoimmune problem causing the hives. The Dermatologist says this is a waste of time because of the Hashimotos and to accept the fact that I won't be able find the true reason for the hives.
Avatar m tn I've had itching from the chest up including neck, shoulders, face, scalp for 10 years now. I've had biopsies that show urticaria and have tried every medication known to man. I've also had ANA and thyroid tests which were all negative. Has anyone ever been completely cured from this horrible itching??? I'm at my wit's end here!
Avatar n tn I tried Doxepin too and had to stop because of the side effects, I have urticaria too and take some Reactine, Benadryl, Zantac and on some treatment that works for me, you don't know what his causing the urticaria????
Avatar f tn One month ago ( around the time that I stopped nursing my 10-month-old) I started getting random lip swelling. From there it turned into itchy hives all over my body. I got a lot of blood work done for my allergist and immunologist everything came back normal but my CU index (chronic urticaria) was slightly elevated suggesting it's autoimmune response. He tested for a large variety of autoimmune disorders. The doctor is treating my symptoms with Zantac, Zyrtec, and Singulair.
1653132 tn?1301852306 Hello, Chronic urticaria is defined as urticaria that persists for longer than 6 weeks. In most of the cases of chronic urticaria, the underlying pathology is idiopathic i.e. it is not linked to any cause. It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom. Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases etc. The most potent antihistamine for urticaria is probably the anti-depressant doxepin.
4477719 tn?1355188618 If this is triggered after your shower, this could be due to aquagenic urticaria. This presents with itchy white or red lumps that occur after direct contact with water, regardless of its temperature. It more commonly affects women and may occur alone or in association with other forms of urticaria. Antihistamine medications may help provide relief. Unfortunately, the cause is unknown. Avatar n tn Subequently became hypothyroid and have been treated with levothyroid since 1984.I have had periodically had incidents of urticaria and have recently experienced SEVERE urticaria over a 3 month period. In doing a work up to determine the cause, my dermatologist ordered a thyroid antibody test( in addition to other tests. The levels of thyroid peroxidase antibody were high (675).I have been referred back to my internist for further evaluation and am scheduled for a thyroid sonogram.
1517808 tn?1290813790 My general doctor referred me to an allergist/immunologist, and I was told that I have autoimmune urticaria (hives). I was prescribed an antihistamine (Zyrtec), Zantac75 (an antacid that also has "alpha blocker" properties), and Doxepin (an antidepressant that also has "alpha blocker" properties. Over time, I stopped taking the Zyrtec and Zantac. Now I am only taking the Doxepin. This seems to control everything pretty well.
Avatar n tn She diagnosed me with Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria. I was in and out of the hospital for months. Each time the hives would continue to get worse. My throat would swell. I've had to inject myself with the epipen because of it. Was on steroids on and off. My daily medications were Allegra, Zantac twice a day, Claritin, Singulair, and four doxepins at night which just managed the itching but didn't stop the hives. I got pregnant again and the hives stopped.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
Avatar m tn You need to get off any product that is Zantac or alike Zantac it's what is causing your heart beating fast anxiety attacks and fatigue.
Avatar f tn I take a daily antihistamine, I switch from Allegra to Claritin. I have not tried the Zantac, but this condition is miserable. I started tonight again after I got home . Nothing specific triggers it. It starts the same every time, a burning sensation, then this horrible itching and rash. I just don't know where to go from here. I did not know that my thyroid might cause this condition.
Avatar m tn s keeping me from working which is really screwing up my life. I have also been suffering form urticaria for about a year now. To reduce confusion, I'm just going to start from the beginning. I preemptively apologize for the length of this post, but I feel that I need to include all the details. You may want to read the symptoms listed at the bottom first. In January, 09 I was forced to move back in with my parents due to financial constraints.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with cold urticaria seven years ago. I would like to get to know people who has the same allergie. I have no hives, only swelling of the mouth, coughing and choking if exposed to cold air, air condition, fridge, freezer, drinking cold drinks, etc. I have to use gloves to touch anyting cold otherwise my fingers will swell and get very red, or have broken blod vessels as a results. No medication is working, avoidance is the answer. Maybe someone out there have the magic answer?
Avatar n tn I just found the post from the other woman who gets hives after giving birth. This happens to me as well. I got hives/eczema within a few weeks of giving birth in 2006 to my first child. They went away in a couple of months. I had another baby 12 weeks ago, and the hives have been even worse this time. Biopsy shows that it's the same reaction as last time. They are much, much itchier than anything I have ever experienced.
