I take Zantac 150 once a day as prescribed by my Dr. I've had terrible acid reflux and it seems to be helpful. It's safe ..my neighbor gives her 4 month old baby zantac for silent reflux as prescribed by her pediatrician.

I took Zantac because I had gastritis symptoms. Now I hear that Zantac causes cancer and wished I never went to pills for relief. How long does it take for cancer to appear after you've taken Zantac? I've heard the NDMA in Zantac causes full body cancers in every organ.... This seems like a intentionally made drug to induce cancer.

Hi Jim. Thanks for replying. I can't take aspirin or ibuphophren (sp?) because I have ITP which is a platelet disorder. So I'm stuck with tylenol anyway. How about Pepcid AC or Zantac OTC? I had my husband's lasagna last night and the acid didn't agree with me. Although the lasagna was delicious. I didn't have anything except for Tums and had read that it wasn't good with tx. So I suffered through it. I just want to get something to have in the cabinet...just in case.

Zantac is the only heartburn med I am allowed to take in my trial with two experimental drugs. I had to give up my proton inhibitor because it might interfere with absorption of one of the drugs. But even with Zantac I have to be careful to take it 10 hours before and 2 hours after dosing with the study drugs. I find that the only way it will help me is if I do not take it near the time of eating. So I try to take it more than an hour after and at least a half hour before eating.

Zantac stopped most of it i then stopped taking 20 tums a day anfld only needed them maybe once every few days (not at all if i remembered to take my zantac first thing in the morning and at night!

I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?

My question is, if I stop taking this drug, will my Gynecomastia condition improve? Will the lump go away in a matter of weeks (ive been off the drug for 1 week so far). Or will it just stop the condition from getting worse. Also a side effect of Zantac tablets is impotence and loss of libido, because I suffered from Gynocomastia, does this necesserily mean I will/am suffering from loss of libido and impotence? Talk to your doctor...they actually have me on prilosec and it's amazing for the acid/heartburn (prilosec is a class C drug, zantac is a little safer as a class B, but didn't work for me) but unfortunately I still wake up chocking on stomach content if I eat or drink after 5pm (it just doesn't burn like before)...

If your taking 0,27 mcgs and take an antacid, its like taking half of that dose, so you would be experiencing hypo symptoms. I am not a doctor, I just read alot about this stuff since my TT. I would stop taking the antacid,and ask my doc about taking another 12.5 mcgs to make up the difference. But thats me.....

If you have taken the medicine, they will show up on he urine test. The only way the test will be.....negative, is if you do not take the meds.

I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc. Any suggestions? I had one yrs ago and he has since been bought out by a large drug store chain...I do miss the care I got, but I do still ask at the drug store....they can help u much more so than ur dr. Always read the side effects on ur meds and if u r having them for more than a couple days...ask to get on diff meds. I am now finding that I am very nauseous and sometimes feel like I may throw up after taking this drug. Does anyone know if this is dangerous for anyone with my issues to take this medication? By taking a medication off prescription and making it OTC the NHS saves money and the pharmaceutical company make more money because presumably more people will by it when they don't need a prescription. The reason you think Rannitidine is less effective is because the placebo effect has been removed.In fact both drugs are equally effective. Otherwise the generic version would not have been licenced.

I was wondering the same thing but it seems like both of them do almost the same thing except the phenergan makes you sleepy. I would only take one or the other if I were you. You could always call your on-call nurse and see what he/she would suggest!
