Avatar n tn Which acid reflux medication (over the counter or prescription) has the least amount of magnesium in it? Due to my short gut syndrome, magnesium brings on more diarrhea but I need something to take for acid reflux. What do you suggest?

Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I've been experiencing muscle twitching all over my body for the past 2-3 years. They feel like bubbles or things crawling under my skin and they happen more frequently when I have lots of gas. Sometimes the twitching stays in one place and doesn't stop for hours. At first I though it was a side effect I was getting from Zantac, but I've been off Zantac for months and I still get muscle spasms! What kind of doctor should I see for this problem?
10678677 tn?1413254266 I take tums and just started some zantac. The zantac is a LIFESAVER!
Avatar f tn When I tapered off the Nexium meds and used a simple, over-the-counter antacid (containing calcium and magnesium) as needed, the PVCs lessened. When I ate carefully and finally stopped Nexium completely (using the OTC antacid only when needed and in small amounts) the PVCs went away completely. I've been free of them for almost two years now.
Avatar f tn Try eating slower. Other options may be Try milk or any anticids containg calcium or magnesium but avoid antacids that contain aluminum because it can cause constipation and be toxic at high doses. Keep your head elevated at night. Try to figure out what triggers heartburn. Also ginger ( ginger ale or ginger candy) If antacid isn't working you might want to consider something stronger, but talk to your doctor before you for that. For instance tagamet or Zantac.
Avatar f tn s fine. You can also take Zantac while pregnant. Those were my best friend, especially later in pregnancy.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
3055148 tn?1368211800 Has anyone ever taken Zantac? My doctor told me to take that everyday instead of taking tums b/c they are pointless, but I kinda don't wanna take medicine.
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
Avatar f tn I am on 5mg Reglan 2-3 times daily for gastroparesis. Also, Nexium 40mg and zantac 150 mg. Is there any concern of being on any of these drugs long term?
Avatar m tn The last year it has gotten worse where I occasionally wake up with back and throat pain but it is quickly resolved by getting up, moving around and taking tums. I have been to many gastro dr.s, have been on nexium and zantac and am mostly constipated (wondering if I have IBS-C?) For some reason, I am petrified of having pancreatic cancer and worry that the back pain could be this.
Avatar f tn I would get regular Pepcid, or Zantac, or ask your vet if the complete is ok. Pepcid complete has Calcium carbonate 800 mg and Magnesium hydroxide 165 mg versus the regular Pepcid that only has Famotidine.
Avatar f tn I have acid reflux and a tablespoon of mustard (have to eat it all at once) has ALWAYS worked for me, but recently not so much! My doctor said to buy omeprazole magnesium (the generic for zantac, prilosec etc) and it has worked wonders!!! I would try the mustard first then ask your dr about it as an option other than a prescription.
Avatar f tn I also take zantac
6778631 tn?1396407123 milk of magnesium will make you poop that's what they use when you're constipated so if you're constipated I would take milk of magnesium but if you're not do not take it you could be hydrate yourself
Avatar n tn My research uncovered that pump inhibitors like protonx cause a magnesium deficiency and magnesium is necessary to regulate your heartbeat. I stopped taking the pills cause it said that prolonged magnesium deficiency can cause serious heart problems. Since then I take Zantac, it does next to nothing even though I take 4 maximum strengths a day, and I pop tums all day, but the heart palpitations have gone away. Not really sure what my next move is going to be.
Avatar f tn Have you tried Magnesium Supplements? If so did it ease any pain symptoms. It is so true that Magnesium and Calcium may be depleted due to extended use of PPI's. I have been on them for years and just only found this out. I have had a dull ache in my left side right under my rib cage and would get scared from time to time and have my Liver Enzymes checked just to make sure it was not my liver. Then I began to think it was my large colon that passes near the liver.
Avatar f tn Heartburn you can take zantac too.
Avatar n tn That stuff scares me because of the rep it has for harming bones. It blocks magnesium absorption or something? I used to take Zantac but I was doing great for nearly a year now, even without taking it, so I didn't bother. But I think I was drinking too much coffee lately and set it off. Do other people here get head pressure and ear pressure with GERD/chest gas? What are the risks with Nexium? Are there other options to try?
593603 tn?1229378162 Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.
