Avatar f tn Um o cant remember if this is fact bit i do believe it is not ok. But double check. They usually say just drink milk. I forced the acid up n out then drank milk....that usually helped.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar n tn s been on everything you can name- pepsid, rice cereal, prevacid, nexium, reglan, mylanta, zantac but nothing seems to work. He is breast fed pumped breast milk (he has always choked on my breast) and I use a premie nipple on the bottle. At around 4 months he started to refuse the bottle (breast milk only) at around this time I also tried introducing him to formula (Isomil soy) but he got so sick that I put him back on breast milk.
Avatar n tn If the vomiting stops than it can be assumed that she was allergic to something in her previous diet. This could be the milk, the Cheerios, chicken, or any ingredient in her old dog food. Under veterinary supervision one ingredient at a time will then be added back to her diet. If no adverse reactions occur within one week of giving the test food it can be assumed that she is not allergic to the food.
503607 tn?1275671579 I was told to make a special formula for her that had whole goat milk, liquid vitamins, and brewers yeast in it, then slowly introduce rice cereal with the formula mixed in...and then pureed foods like mashed potatoes, yams, wild rice and scrambled eggs...I refused to put her on reflux meds because they decrease the stomach acid and thus impedes the body's ability to digest and absorb vitamins and minerals...
569254 tn?1267372644 My aunt's friend had a baby with acid reflux and they gave her "tummy medicine" (not sure what it was) in her bottle mixed with breast milk since she was only a couple weeks old...I wish I knew the name of it to tell you to ask about it...but you can try lifting one side of the crib up a bit, that's what they recommended for my son spitting up, I actually had to switch him to soy because it was the milk based formula causing it not acid reflux...
Avatar f tn I also take zantac 150, I still get heart burn though.
Avatar f tn Milk yogurt helps but if it's really bad zantac 150 works wonders an it's safe for the baby
1628088 tn?1299532090 Hi, my son is 1 month 1/2 old and suffers from reflux. His pediatrician put him on zantac about 2 weeks ago and now again 2 days ago. I'm not seeing much improvements since he is still spitting up and sometimes it just goes back down. I also feel that he has had colic, since he cries out of no where with such a great force. I was mostly breastfeeding and he was drinking formula (similac advance) as well but maybe just about 2 oz. every other feeding.
Avatar n tn fur me anyways.... if not chocolate milk try milk... i juss cnt drink straight milk only if i eat it wit cereal..
Avatar f tn She was drinking both bottle and breast milk till she was 5 week old and all of a sudden she stopped taking both breast and bottle and shows no hunger and now we have to encourage her each feed. She take 1 to 2 ounce every feed. Totally she takes 15 to 16 ounces of milk in 24 hours time. This too after so much of encouragement. What could be wrong with her. Her doc said she might have GERD and she is on Zantac for a week now with no improvment.
Avatar f tn Yes zantac and tums are safe to take. They didn't help me, good luck.
Avatar f tn Especially, if I would eat anything spicy a couple of hours or so before bedtime I would supplement my prilosec with a zantac. In any event, the acid reflux has been with me for several years. A couple of months ago, I went in for a routine check up, and had my bloodtest, which showed a slightly elevated ALP of 85.
Avatar f tn I think milk makes mine worse. I drink lots of water and sit up in bed also really watch what you eat. Ice, water, mints help so much!
4250731 tn?1359154323 My dr said zantac helps.. I took it nd I still get heartburn jus not as bad.. its worth a shot.
1827365 tn?1410506306 Drink milk helps a lot with Zantac.
1330108 tn?1333677304 the cereal does not thicken breast milk up like formula. Something about enzymes in breast milk that formula does not contain so making it thick gets a little harder.
Avatar f tn Milk, yogurt. Domid you try to adjust your diet? Maybe you are consuming too much acidic food?
Avatar f tn My dr said milk is the worst you can drink with heartburn. Milk curdle in you and can make it worse and even make you vomit. Dr said Zantac or pepcid is safe and take tums in between. If you take zantac once in morning and once at night it works wonders!! I swear by it. I had heartburn 5 out of 7 days in first and second trimesters. Now I have it every once in a while. Also don't lie down right after eating and eat smaller meals. Good kuck!
