zantac for ulcer

i have been taking zantac 75mg for alomost 4 months and im not that satisfied so i increased it to 150mg a day..up to now. before it was 75mg a day.do you think its peptic ulcer? cause i have been suffering for almost 5months til now. hey dont you think i will have pancreatic cancer just like my grandmother? last night while i was making the post i felt a little 2/10 pain in my upper abdominal left quadrant. thank you thank you thank you!

I did the usual things for an ulcer (careful with food, no alcohol or soda, no smoking, etc.), but healing that was awful. I went to a gastroenterologist who didn't seem surprised at the meds causing these issues, but she also didn't really have any ideas other than figuring out which medication I could tolerate the best. I'm worried that I might have another ulcer, so I was wondering if anyone had better luck with certain stomach medications or any other ideas in general.

It would be good to get an upper GI test if you could. If not then do they have Zantac 150 you take that for a month or two. But do quit the fatty foods and cream sauces and oily or fried foods and that should help on it is own. You don't want to take Zantac for very long it is only to help temporarily (1-2 months the quit). Have had any pills like Ibupropin, aspirin, or any other NSAIDs lately? If so those can cause stomach problems too. Hope this helps.

I visited the doctor and she put me on Zantac suspecting I had an ulcer to see how I would react to it (I presume). It seemed to relieve the pain for a while then basically stopped working. The pain gets worse when I have an empty stomach though that is not guaranteed as it may come even just a few hours after I have eaten. Spicy foods do not seem to aggravate the pain. Alcohol consumption (beer) actually seems to be a sure way to relieve the pain and that has the doctor seemingly confused.

Can Nexium or Zantac cause heart palpitations? Ever since I started taking them I have been experiencing these weird flattering things should I be concerned?

My 19 year old daughter has just been diagnosed wtih an esophogeal ulcer. She was prescribed 40mg of Protonix once a day. She has been taking this medication for one week, and has been experiencing dizziness and nausea. She weighs about 120 lbs. I looked online, and it appears that these are side effects that some patients experience. My question is: would Nexium pose the same problems for her?

Ok I have been dealing with stomach problems for about a year now with no luck.. I tried nexium ,zantac, prilosec, nothing works... About two months ago i would notice blood in my stool occasionally and I would have diarrhea for a day and then it would disappear.. went to the er they said i was positive for blood and did nothing about it.. All my x rays ,ct scans and ultrasounds and blood work came back fine... but the diarrhea hits me off and on now often and i see the blood more often now!!!

Are you prescribed Zantac? Or, are you talking about the OTC preparation? Zantac is a very safe medication, it probably wouldn't be an issue for you to try it...run it by your doc first. These meds can cause all kinds of GI Upset, so it could very well be the Prozac. Have you ever been diagnosed with GERD? Have you ever just tried taking a few Tums? That may work also. Tums can be very effective, and they are completely safe. Make sure you are taking the Prozac as prescribed.

so for the past week i have been having bad stomach pain like right under my breast bone, nothing is helping it, i keep tasting blood and food isnt helping food makes it worse. so my doctor put me on some meds for gastritis, well those made the pain 20 times worse i was crying i couldn't breathe my stomach just hurt.

I too was prescribed zantac (Ranitidine) and I began taking them last week for nausea and was having light chest pain.( Less serious Zantac side effects may include:headache (may be severe);drowsiness, dizziness;sleep problems (insomnia);decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or swollen or tender breasts (in men);nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; or diarrhea or constipation so yes those are some of the side effects your having.

I TOO HAVE THAT SAME PAIN WHICH HAS LASTED EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST 6 YRS.

t tell them if you have an ulcer, or if there is inflammation. You can have an ulcer and no blood in your stool. Can you tell me what medication they gave you, and have you tried Tagamet?

It was all the same for him, with the reflux, the sleepless nights, the bloated belly. He also took Zantac without success. What he finally ended up doing was having a doctor look down his throat to discover his burned esophagus and tooth enamel that was severely eroded from all that acid washing up. The doctor didn't find an ulcer, but he put him on Prilosec, I think for a few weeks, until his throat could heal. I wouldn't take any medicine for an extended period though.

Hi Cass167, sorry you are having this problem. Since the over the counter meds are not working you should see a doctor. They may need to do an Upper GI to make sure you don't have an ulcer. Also, The chest pain and back pain needs to be checked too. I don't want you to put off going to the doctor but it does take a month or two for Zantac or Prilosec to heal an ulcer or you may reflux even if you don't feel it. Please get this checked out.

I am now having the similar problem. i am now taking medicine for ulcer for past 2 days.but still i feel numbness in back of my head sometimes .Please share me if your medication for ulcer cured the issue or did you get any other treatment.

I had an ulcer caused by H. pylori, and I used an antibiotic three times a day for 10 days. I also took an acid reducer once a day that healed by stomach lining. Today, I take one Prilosec, 20-mg, and I have no pain. If you have gastritis and are not taken medication specifically for gastritis, your stomach lining can become worst, and you might develop an ulcer. If I were you, I would require your doctor, not his office staff, to confirm whether or not you have/had an ulcer caused by H.

Diagnosed via endoscopy with a small gastric erosion compatible with gastritis several months ago (negative for h.pylori). Have tried Protonix for 3 months, Dexilant for 2 months, Nexium for 2 weeks (felt worse), and have been on Carafate for a month. I've also tried some "at home remedies". Nothing works. I went to see my primary care Dr. for stress/anxiety and he thinks that may be why my stomach is not healing.

I do take zantac but to me thats more for heartburn and i do think that prevaicd does help with ulcers? so i will try something like that and i did hear the pepto-bismouth works good too!

On Christmas day I started not feeling well. I wasn't hungry and was a little tired. The following day I started having this bloatel feeling in my upper stomach and it felt like I was hungry all the time. My stomach was rumbling all the time, whether I just ate or not. Told me to start the BRAT diet.

Hi, for the last couple of months actualy I've been getting realy severe sabdominal cramps, for some reason it completely goes away just after I've eaten but would just come back after an hour or so. I'm also slightly bloated... I'm also rather constipated. Any Idea what it might be? It's gotten so bad that I have these pains 24/7...

Talk to your doc-chances are they'll have you start taking zantac or pepcid. Mine has been awful! I swear, I'm growing a fire breathing dragon inside me!! I pop tums like candy (probably more than I should) but when they don't work,I dissolve 1tsp baking soda in a large (16oz) glass of Luke warm water & drink it all. It tastes nasty bit is completely safe & really nitralizes the acid for a long time.
