With reflux babies you have to play chemist and figure out which amount of rice cereal is what they need to keep the formula down and you sometimes have to play with the dosage of zantac. They told me to use 1tsp of rice cereal per ounce of milk or formula and when that didn't help they said 1tbsp per 2 ounces. I changed her formula and we don't have to use the cereal at all. She now just has silent reflux.

thanks Selma, I seen my gyno specialist last week and was told to stop motilium immediatly, she has never used them for GERD and suggests I stick to pariet and maybe zantac not motilium. They are actually used for the GERD but this is a side effect in some unlucky people like me.

She does not cry for food and she suffers from GERD. The drs said feed on demand but then said small frequent meals. How much how often should she be eating? I'm waking her every 2 hours to feed and giving her 2oz pumped breastmilk. When breastfeeding she eats until it all comes back.

In order to treat Acid Reflux/GERD I have been taking Ranitidine/Zantac per doctors advice. I started developing various side effects several months ago. To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so.

s son had the GERD pretty bad and had to take tons of meds from Zantac to some gas drops. He would get sick no matter what we tried and did that for his entire first year. The bad thing was that he had to remain on baby food and formula longer than normal cuz his little system was so sensitive. My sons had it awful but my nephew (poor little thing) had it worse. I hope she gets over it soon cuz once she does...

With that said, my doctor said if I can manage on the Zantac either once or twice a day to do that, since Zantac has less side effects. Chewing gum during the day helps me a lot too. No stress, but a year ago when this started my whole family did get a cold, and this is when I thought it was asthma, but it wasn't. I had a GI scope about 3 months before this and was on the Protonix but was off by the time I had this first episode of chest issues.

Hi......Zantac is not an antidepressant it's prescribed for heartburn. Is there another medication she's been prescribed that maybe you got confused with the Zantac?

Endoscopy does not cause GERD. My symptoms appeared suddenly as well seven years ago. GERD is cause by a weak LES.

I went to a GI and she prescribed me with nexium in the morning (I usually take nexium everytime my gerd acts up) and zantac in the evening before bedtime. The next day, we went to my pulmonologist for my routine checkup, since I had primary spontaneous pneumothorax last november.

Doc stuck me on zantac this time and seemed to clear up. Fast forward 6 months and i have been having bad stomach pains, burning in stomach with reflux for around 3 weeks so back on the omeprazole (as know supposed to work better than zantac) but it doesnt seem to be working. Was wondering if it would be ok to take dgl and aloe vera juice at same time as omeprazole to maybe "double up" the effects?? - anyone have any experience with this?

About 2 months ago I finally had an endoscopy done and was told I had a hietal hernia and a mild case of gerd with esophagitis. How can you have a mild case of GERD if you have it all the time, how is that possible? I dont feel like its a mild case since i have it everyday despite the medication I am on now. Does any one have the same symptoms, I spend every day worrying that im never going to be the same ever again.

I have MS and one major problem I have is GERD, hiatal hernia, and gastroparesis. I have finally found relief for the constipation that goes with this. I now take 2 omeprazole a day, 4 domperidone--a motility drug, and a Zantac before bed. I have tried ginger capsules and all kinds of natural supplements, plus tums, etc. Any suggestions? I have had a bezoar when digestion just stopped, gall bladder out--infection in that. I feel like I have morning sickness all the time!

Is it safe to take the heartburn remedy Zantac (rantadine) while taking simvastatin.

I came across a happenstance. I was dx with Gerd in 1999 and was on zantac which after much time cleared up and zantac was stopped. Starting in 2001 I happened to get an SVT episode. In 2006 I had an afib episode and would have about 5 with each progressing year treated with verapamil "pill in the pocket".

This could be upper GI bleeding due to your Gerd which is currently untreated. I do understand about Zantac and would say you also need to talk to your doctor about an alternative medication. I would call your doctor today to be seen!

I have GERD/sleep apnea and woke up hyperventilating for years. Is there a treatment for it? Is protonix the best treatment for GERD? I've got a pretty severe case of GERD. Going on almost four months now continuously. Taking 60 milligrams of Kapifex in the morning and 150 milligrams of Zantac in the evening. Even that combination isn't working. Anyone out there had GERD to this degree? If so, what did you do to alleviate it. Thanks for any info.

Did you ever try taking acid reflux meds or GERD meds? this may be a reason for it. Try and let us know.

I was diagnosed with GERD about 15 years ago. I have been taking Zantac regularly since then. About ten years ago I started having SVT episodes about twice a year. This would occur usually when I was stressed AND/OR when I was having bad reflux! Recently I underwent an ablation to stop the SVTs. Oddly enough, my reflux has been bothering me off and on and I seem to be having heart skips or palpitations until I either eat or take Zantac.

I went to my primary care two weeks ago, who put me on zantac 150 and tested me for h. pylor, which came back negative. The zantac has reduced the symptoms, but I am still fairly uncomfortable. I am considered slightly overweight on the bmi scale. I am 5'9, 180 pounds. I have had four pregnancies, two surviving children, an emergency ectopic and a miscarriage. Any help would be appreciated.
