Common Questions and Answers about Zantac dosage for 3 month old

zantac

Avatar f tn So my 2 1/2 month old is on soy based formula due to milk allergy, he's been on it since he was a day old.. he has acid reflux. So he's on zantac. But 3 weeks ago he got to the point where he cries while he's eating. He seems miserable. I don't know if I need to call tomorrow and ask to see if they need to up his dosage on zantac? Or something. He eats the bottle but he cries like he's in pain the entire time. And he cries literally all day .
Avatar n tn Also, what is the recommended dosage for the Zantac? I am still having some breakthrough with my current regimen (i.e., one 30 mg Prevacid in the a.m., and one 150 mg Zantac in the p.m. Thanks so much and I look forward to your answer.
776572 tn?1360290739 was sooo sick last night so took one 75mg pill last night and another pill again this am on recommendation from motherrisk morning sickness helpline. seems to be helping, however i plan to stop taking the pills and change my diet, concentrating on consuming more alkaline foods instead of taking meds. nausea was remarkably reduced this am and in fact, i didn't wake during the night with the urge to vomit -- first time in weeks.
Avatar n tn but im thinking of trying zantac for her the least doisage possible just to cjeck if it will reduce the spitting and the crankiness after feeds, but i also don't want her tummy to get used to it since my self i have been on omeprazole for years and can't live without it.. it's only during my pregnancy that I have changed to zantac and in severe cases pariet or lanzor.
Avatar n tn Hi there. I have a 3 month old son, he used to eat VERY well. Above average in his weight. Was allways hungry. Also he has reflux and colic. He is on Zantac, and has slowed down his vomiting. But now all of a sudden he wont drink anymore than 50 mls at a feeding and is a struggle. He tries to shove his fist down his throat in hunger but wont have his bottle. He used to drink 180-200 mls every 3 and a half hours. Not sleeping well in the daytime and night time is waking every 1 and a half.
Avatar m tn He contracted antibiotic induced C-Diff. He took Flagyl for 10 days, then Vancomycin for 7 days, and then he was prescibed vancomycin for 30 days (500 mg 3x/day). He is now on a taper dose of vancomycin. We had him scoped in Dec. The biopsy found h pylori. We then started him on triple therapy for 14 days. We were very fearful to put him on the triple therapy as that is how he contracted the C-Diff. We pulled him off the triple therapy after 7 days.
99627 tn?1301270952 DS was on Zantac already at 3 weeks for a few months. He didn't have any side effects that I noticed and he outgrew it pretty fast.
Avatar n tn Since about 8 months my son has slept on his stomach (he would roll over on his own) and will not sleep any other way. Second, My son was on Zantac for about 3 weeks when he was first diagnosed at 7 weeks, (until I switched pediatricians because he didn't believe me when I said my son was still in pain) after 2 weeks my smiling boy went back to crying constantly. He was then switched to 3/4 tablet 15mg prevacid solutab at 3 months old.
Avatar n tn My baby is 6 months old and i couldn't nurse for the first month due to my medical condition. She was on Similac Advance. After a week, one night she cried for 3 hours and then her pediatrician told us to switch her formula to Similac Isomil Advance(Soy formula) stating that she might have problem with breaking the milk protiens. No tests were done to confirm that. She gained weight very slowly i.e. 1 pound a month. Her stools smelled very bad. She was still gassy, fussy & spat up a lot.
Avatar n tn I have an 8 month old baby who has reflux. When he was about 4 months old, he slept through the night for a couple of weeks. Then, he got sick and didn't during that time. Ever since that cold, he will not sleep more than 3 hours during the night. Is it the reflux? He is also snoring and seems to have labored breathing, so I'm very concerned about apnea. Could the reflux be causing this? He is currently on axid, which helps a little and we have tried reglan, but saw no difference.
1628088 tn?1299532090 but 4oz keep him full enough to wait for his next feeding (within 3 hours) during the day and night. He was on zantac and that was not helping. Then they gave me precavid but Im not a big fan of medications so I have not giving it to him yet as he seems a little more better with the rice cereal. The doctor told me about an alternative that has worked for his granddaughter called Simply Thick, he wants me to get the thinnest one. But Im still doing research on that, have you ever heard of it?
Avatar f tn My 8 month old is having a scary episode right now but I will give a little background. When she was 3 mos old she started having what looked to be seizures. Cat scans and eegs were normal and it was determined that she had reflux. She now takes zantac twice a day. Since she has been on the meds she had an issue where she wasnt holding her head up and her limbs were going floppy and she was miserable for 1-1/2 days.
1474611 tn?1416632958 I had taken Lithium for awhile, at 600mg, twice a day for a total of 1200 mg. Went off it for a long while. I hope it works at this dosage better than it did at the higher dosage.
7349088 tn?1390657733 I take Zantac 150 once a day as prescribed by my Dr. I've had terrible acid reflux and it seems to be helpful. It's safe ..my neighbor gives her 4 month old baby zantac for silent reflux as prescribed by her pediatrician.
Avatar f tn Hi, my son who is now 3 also had reflux, though not as severe as your grandson's seems to be. Zantac worked for my son; however, it doesn't work for everyone. There is alot more that can be done for him. Take him to a pediatrician, or call the GP you saw and ask him for a referral to a gastroenterologist (tummy doc) for your grandson. If you can get the GP to give a referral then you can save money since a pediatrician may just refer you to the tummy doc anyway.
Avatar f tn My 4 month old has been diagnosed with acid reflux and was prescribed pepcid when he was 2 months old. He has been on Enfamil A.R. formula also. Unfortunately, this thicker formula seems to constipate him (small hard balls). Once he was put on the pepcid he has been a different baby...cooing and laughing. Just recently he had some major outbursts of crying/screaming. We thought he was constipated and went to the E.R. They released us with a diagnosis of constipation but the Dr.
Avatar n tn zantac, axid, prevacid, and zegerid. He is also on neocate for allergic collitis. His reflux was under control, but has since deteriorated. He has also developed scoliosis. After seeing a spine specialist today, he thinks that the reflux, sandifer syndrome is causing the scoliosis. Our GI does not think so.
Avatar f tn I cant believe how quickly this past month has gone bye. So much has happened I have no idea where to start..... Jacob my big boy is now 2lbs 8 oz. he is a wiggle butt. He is off the vent and on a high flow canula. He has some tummy issues but we are hoping they will get better as he gets older. They had to put a V.A.D. in his head so they can drain the extra fluid till it starts working right.
