Zantac and synthroid

Common Questions and Answers about Zantac and synthroid

zantac

Avatar f tn Antacids are known to increase synthroid (and other thyroid medications) requirments. If you are on these medications long-term then the synthroid may need to be increased, but if it is only for a few weeks, then the absorption should go back to pre-antacid status.
Avatar f tn I had an endoscopy and it showed I had lots of inflamation and the gastro doc put me on the Zantac because Prilosec and Nexium make me nauseated. Should I go off the Zantac and try something else? Call my endo and whine again? Help!!!
168348 tn?1379357075 t hurt any meds - and take a Zantac150 one am (4 hrs btwn synthroid) and one at night before bed. Your TSH is good - so this will coat the stomach and help heal it again. Two weeks at least. and eat lots--lots of "ice cold" yorgurt. I find water will sometimes get me more acid too - but we need it - pump up with the acidophillus.
Avatar f tn t be able find the true reason for the hives. In the meantime I am still breaking out even with the Allegra, Zantac and the Hydroxyzine I am taking. So with all this said should I have the blood work done, or should I see an Endo or is there a link between the two??? Can you please give me some insight?? I am frustrated.
Avatar f tn Tirosint and Synthroid are 2 different brands of T4 medication. Tirosint is a gelcap, containing only 4 ingredients, which are the active ingredient, levothyroxine, water, gelatin, and glycerin. It's basically, hypoallergenic. As a gelcap, it's dissolved and absorbed better than pill type meds. Tirosint starts off at 13 mcg and goes up to 300 mcg. Synthroid is the leading brand of pill type thyroid hormone replacement meds.
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg of prilosec a day and it works amazing
7349088 tn?1390657733 Has anyone taken zantac during pregnancy for heartburn? I'm 22+5 and have heartburn almost every other day. Sometimes it's so bad that I just want to sleep so i don't feel it.
369861 tn?1306275686 I had RAI and after that I had the burning sore tongue - I also was on Synthroid at that time so I am not sure which one caused the issue. I think it was both RAI and remaining hypothyroid. I hate to say but I had that for over 2 yrs - then I developed acid reflux and now both are finally gone being euthyroid.
3055148 tn?1368211800 I ran out of the 75 mg of zantac but I have equate 150 mg its the same thing as zantac but just the.generic brand. Is it ok to take that?
1088529 tn?1256844030 I've just started taking zantac, and I don't know if I'll have any side effects, or if my regular symptoms (stomach pain, upset stomach) will become apparent or come back. My question is this; if I get nauseous, stomach pain, upset stomach etc. as a side effect or other, can I take tums to calm my stomach down? Or will it just make things worse? I can't talk to my doctor because (a) don't have an appointment and (b) am too young to drive there or get an appointment myself.
484160 tn?1343397921 After month upon month of frustration, the wife goes and buys hubby some extra strength Zantac and within three hours he was wanting a cheeseburger. When the doctors came in that afternoon I asked them to give it a try. After a bit of condescending attitude on the doctor's part, he said, well, it can't hurt her so if that's what you want we will give it a try. It has now been a week since she was released from the hospital and so far, so good.
Avatar f tn Give the Synthroid time to kick in. Your nausea is from both being hypo and the RAI. I didn't get experience the nausea until I went home from the hospital after RAI. So some three days later. I didn't start the meds until almost a week later. It does get better. The nausea is just a phase. Not a long one, but a phase none the less. I took Zantac and it helped all along until just after I got home.
Avatar m tn Can you please tell me if you can take Nexium 40mg. and Zantac 75mg. together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.
1569985 tn?1328247482 Just to be sure -- I am taking Norpace XR, Atenolol, Xanax, Synthroid, Zantac, and Metformin. I have normal kidney function.
Avatar f tn t zantac but it is the same ingredient you drop it in a half cup water and it foams up and you quickly drink it. It is OTC. If zantac is safe this should be too. Thanks so much. Also i read that taking any antacid like tums and rolaids can have a reaction with the prozac. Is this true i was too scared to try Tums.
Avatar m tn I'm a stay at home mom with a similar (but not exact) experience to your daughter, so take my suggestion for what it's worth. I had chronic hives since childhood. It was undiagnosed until my 20s. My new allergist said people with dermagraphism (my form of chronic hives) was frequently a side symptom of an auto-immune disease. He tested me for 6 different ones, and I came back positive for Hashimotos (my immune system attacks my thyroid).
Avatar f tn Go pick up zantac 150 or 75 mg. If 75 mg take 1 pill twice daily and then take tums as needed. Zantac should prevent the heartburn but if it doesnt work on occasion take tums (i normally take 4 extra strength tums or 2 ultra strength at a time) I was prescribed zantac 75 mg twice a day with my first baby and told to take tums if for some reason zantac doesnt help so its perfectly safe!
Avatar m tn Zantac Ranitidine (150mg), antacid zellox-II, Zecuf, antibiotic (cephalexin), paracetamol, and cough syrup. This is when problem occurred. I started to experience soft light yellow stool (very little as i didn't eat much), diarrhea (>3 times, little too) , indigestion, nausea, and bloat. I started to get worried and didn't take the medicine for the time being. Please advise me what to do now. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn This initally had good results, but I have evolved into mild constipation and the stomach distress and gas seems to be escalating again. I am taking 300mcg Synthroid, 5mcg Cytomel, daily, vitamins, one HCL and a Digestive enzyme with each meal. I feel pretty good with current thyroid regime, though I do need 10hr of sleep to feel normal, it takes awhile to get going am, and still feel moody. I eat well, lots of veges , cooked and raw, fruit, low meat intake, lots of water.
593603 tn?1229378162 My RE and my OB both said I could take Zantac 150 - - didn't want me to take Pepto Bismol (b/c it has aspirin in it) or Prilosec OTC (it's a category C).
Avatar m tn By taking a medication off prescription and making it OTC the NHS saves money and the pharmaceutical company make more money because presumably more people will by it when they don't need a prescription. The reason you think Rannitidine is less effective is because the placebo effect has been removed. In fact both drugs are equally effective. Otherwise the generic version would not have been licenced.
Avatar f tn I go in, they take blood and finally have me on 137 of Synthroid after being on 100, 112, and 150. I thought 137 was the magic dose. I've felt great since August. Then about 2 months ago I started to feel kind of "off." By "off" I mean not good. Kind of shaky, hungry, hair falling out, etc. I called, he checked my levels and my TSH had gone from .01 to .44. Endo said I was going hypo and needed to increase my meds by taking 2 pills on Sundays.
Avatar f tn I thought I was done with this feeling nauseous stuff its so uncomfortable now and I had a severe sharpness in my back all over it hurt so bad but after a hour it went away has anyone else experienced this
