zantac and first trimester

Does anyone know if you can take Zantac 75 during your first trimester for heartburn? I took it with my first pregnancy, but it was a lot later in the pregnancy. I am dying here, and need a fix.

I was that way with my first ..I had to talk to my doctor and he gave me a nausea medicine and told me to take that with tums and if the tums didn't work he'd prescribe zantac or something ...if its that bad give them a call they may be able to call something in for you. You can also try the extra strength tums that's what I have to do with this baby ....

I was on omneprezerol before pregnancy, doctor said to only take if absolutely necessary. I read aboyt papaya during my first pregnancy and it was AMAZING! I am now 36 wks in my third pregnancy and gave been heartburn free as long as i eat a small bowl each night.

The cool mint Zantac are a life saver!!

I was told by my Obgyn to use Tums for short-term, and Zantac, for longer-term heartburn, just like bnl said. I'm not a doctor, but since my doctor said it was okay, I did both in 2nd trimester. Now in my 3rd trimester, I occasionally use the Tums. They both worked well for me.

Zantac is the only thing that works for me. Dinner time is when I get it the worst. So I take it while my husband cooks.

Im in my 7th week and my acid reflux is aweful! Does anyone know if Zantac is safe? Tums are not working...

pepto is not safe. it has bismuth in it and that's not good for the baby.

During my first trimester I was miserable! The gas was horrid! Thankfully my husband is very supportive and would comfort me and help me find ways to deal with it all. Unfortunately, I found no way to cope. I just had to ride it out. Try an antiacid that doubles as a calcium supplement. That really helped with the heartburn. I'm 24 weeks now and still dealing with gas and heartburn but it is not near as bad as it was. Hang in there mama! If it gets really bad, tell your doctor.

Yes but don't take them to often. I had really bad heartburn my first trimester and they told me it's safe just don't take them often.

I've been on prilosec since I was 21 weeks.. I'm now 2 days shy of 36 weeks... and my baby has dropped and the acid reflux and heart burn lightened up!

Zantac 150 twice a day...

I love zantac! With my first i got heartburn after EVERYTHING. I couldnt even drink water without getting heartburn. Zantac stopped most of it i then stopped taking 20 tums a day anfld only needed them maybe once every few days (not at all if i remembered to take my zantac first thing in the morning and at night!

Its usually at its worse around the third trimester and pretty noticeable in your first trimester. Talk to your OB about what may be safe to use on your pregnancy. In general, Tums are generally considered safe in pregnancy. Although they may not work for very long periods of time but your OB can recommend a medication that better suits your pregnancy. I had horrible heartburn in my last pregnancy, I would literally choke on pure acid (very gross, I know!) But after I delivered..

I just drink a lot water and sit up maybe start walking around so chest is not weighed down and wait few hours after you eat to lay down.

Definitely zantac twice a day. Take it every day. I had heartburn my entire 2nd trimester and tried everything before dr finally said zantac.

ZANTAC, ZANTAC, ZANTAC!!! I started getting it early with this pregnancy too, and at 11 weeks I asked for it because it helped when I was pregnant with Elijah. It's AWESOME!!! I've only had it maybe two times since in the last 3, almost 4 weeks. Try to avoid foods that will make it worse, like tomato sauces, or acidic things like orange juice...I hope it gets better soon!!!

yup- my first pregnancy i had horrible heart burn from day 1. I suffered through the first trimester on tums. I can't stand the thought of tums since then. After I was out of the first trimester, i was given a script for Pepcid. I was allowed to take OTC zantac, pepcid, etc... but it was cheaper to get a prescription. My daughter did not have any problems at all with reflux. I am now pregnant with #2. I was surprised that the first trimester wasn't too bad with the heart burn.

Zantac is the miracle worker for heartburn or acid reflux during pregnancy I used it with my first and even OBs recommend it so try that and if that doesn't work then talk to your doctor they can give you something for it

My doctor put me on Zantac since my first trimester and it has been a miracle drug for me.

when i was in my third trimester i had nausea so so so so bad. just as bad as my first trimester. the 2nd was a nice little break. lol.

I took it in my pregnancy in the last trimester, one a day before bed and my baby is a healthy 8 week old now. I had really bad reflux and nothing else I tried worked. My Dr said it was ok to take since I was only having one a day. If I were you I would take your doctor's advice. Good luck.

^^ during my first and with this one Zantac is my go-to. With my son I don't know how I would have survived the third trimester without it!

Doc told me I could take Zantac 75. I was eating those like candy! Never hurt my son...he is now 6 1/2. And they work like a charm. Mylanta you can have too. But I tried that..it dint work. NOthing worked! Just Zantac 75 and thank god I had those!

I have had horrible heartburn since my second trimester. I'm 36 weeks now. Every night no matter what I do it never fails. Zantac and milk are life savers! Also, I've never heard of heartburn being linked to preeclampsia.

@karleybug20 is zantac safe? I have some 75.I had to take it in the second trimester, but they said that It's the trimester where you are safer to take things. I've had it for hours now and I don't eat spicy food. I will be asking my doctor about it next time I'm in, has yours okay'd it? I know it works.

its been going on for a week straight now so ive been taking zantac once a day but it keeps coming back...Is this normal?
