Avatar f tn My son is 4.5 yrs old and just started school, but I am having trouble with his toilet training, sometimes he does it and sometimes he just 'wees' or poop's in his pants, he doesn't seem to care and just seems too busy to think for himself, what else should I do, his teachers are getting concerned?
Avatar n tn When he goes on the toilet let him know how proud you are of him and give him a big hug. Accidents happen. Ask any preschool teacher and the teacher will say that accidents happen even with 4 and 5 years olds. No pressure. Be positive when he goes potty on the toilet.
Avatar n tn My son's first grade teacher mentioned (in passing) that my son is exhibiting passive-aggressive behaviors. She continued that it took her a while to categorize his behavior but she's sure now. I was taken aback as she's never mentioned this in my previous meetings with her. So, i did some research on what PA is and honestly i don't see this in his behavior. He is a sweet and gentle seven year old that loves to pretend play star wars.
Avatar f tn He has been moved to 1:1 and is doing much better. The behavioral specailist wants to integrate him back into the classroom, but feels he should move to a new classroom, I really agree. I feel like the old teacher is really burnt out with him and keeps saying "I don't have the training to deal with this". then she sent a group email out about Valentine's Day and my son's name was not on the list. IT was very devastating to me.
1310633 tn?1430224091 (Reuters) - School teachers in Texas are flocking to free firearms classes and hundreds more in Ohio have signed up for training in the wake of the Connecticut elementary school massacre, some vowing to protect their students with guns even at the risk of losing their jobs. In Ohio, more than 900 teachers, administrators and school employees signed up for the Buckeye Firearms Association's newly created, three-day gun training program, the association said.
Avatar n tn Find someone who offers parent management training, parent guidance, behavior modification training or parent effectiveness training. Your pediatrician should be able to make a referral. The book The Kazdin Method by Alan Kazdin has great advice for how to run a behavior modification plan that can be used at home and school.
1308443 tn?1302693321 My health teacher is the athletic director and has some medical training. Yesterday I told him about the popping and he said that it was a good thing. I already went to see the doctor and he told me it wasn't currently broken thatwas in January. When I told my teacher that I was told to squeeze a tennis ball he said it was the worst thing I could have done I had to agree because my finger did get worse. Is there anything I should be doing for it during karate?
Avatar f tn My husband and I have noticed his behavior and we have been seeing a dr regarding this. We are at the point he is now getting behavior reports all the time and now his teacher has called me today for a meeting with us and her. I am so terribly worried about putting my 5 year old on medication. I am scared this will hurt his brain development. I know in my heart that medication is the answer but I have this feeling about medication as well.
Avatar f tn Our 4 year old just started junior kindergarten, which is all day, 5 days a week. He use to take 2-3 hour daily naps, and has been fully potty trained for 2 years. Within the first 5 days of school, he has started pooping his pants, both at school and at home! He is expected the wipe his own bum at school, which he struggles with. The teachers are unable to help them at that age, due to ' legal ' reasons. He is happy, enjoys school, and doesn't cry about going.
Avatar f tn I am a preschool teacher and I teach three year olds. I have one boy in my class who is 31/2 and he has no interest in using the potty. He wears a pullup and will not even let me or my assistant teacher check him. He holds both his pee and poop until he gets home, When I try to get him to go he gets upset and acts afraid. I do not want to force him for fear of him being afraid of coming to school.
Avatar f tn Today he informed me that he told the children two times to use there indoor voice and he had to speek to his teacher about the situation as they were not listening. The hard thing is that if I tell him he shouldn't tell on his friends he will take it for everything and if I give him only a few exclusions I may miss something. It is almost like programming which was not one of my strengths ...but I guess that is all going to change !
Avatar f tn ve done extensive research regarding potty training and I am aware that a delay in potty training is common with SPD children. But, his actions lead me to believe that he is just being stubborn. Here are some examples/specifics of his behaviors: - He does not wet the bed at night. - Nothing seems to phase him; he has come home from school upset because kids have picked on him, then he'll poop/pee his pants 10 minutes later. I have tried rewards, praise, charts, games...
Avatar f tn When we were in the preschool years prior to public education, in the private setting--- there was a wider range in training of teachers. That is when there could be a chance that a teacher didn't understand thinks like sensory integration disorder and other such issues that affect classroom behavior. Kids with these disorders often look like they are misbehaving but it is actually a surfacing of their disorder in the classroom.
Avatar m tn Well, there could be. My son is 6 and he started the first grade this year. He was a potty training champ----- but wet his pants most days for about a week after school started. We determined that he was stressed and over tired. We worked with him to get to be earlier, to ask his teacher BEFORE he 'really' had to go bad and for the teacher to respond to him if he was 'doing the dance' and to overall be less stressed. He's not had an accident since.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a yoga teacher and 9 weeks pregnant with my first :) Anytime the doctor hears you're doing yoga they say yes, great, keep doing it! But they don't know about certain restrictions. Make sure you tell your instructor that you are in your first trimester. Not every teacher is trained in prenatal but yours may be.
2127908 tn?1335376868 My son just turned 5 a few weeks ago, we have been potty training for the past two and a half years and he still doesn't seem to understand. He will go pee all day but when it comes to pooping, he only does it in his pants. I am not getting cooperation at his school ( the teacher sends him to the bathroom but doesnt know anything he does beyond leaving her room). He will wear big boy pants but will poop in them.

Avatar m tn We have a healthy happy (very intelligent) 4 year old daughter. She is in private pre-k. On occasion she will talk about "pee pees" and her own privates. Rest assured that at home we don't talk about this. We have admonished her every time we have heard from her teachers that she has done this. She is obviously needing attention. We can give her more attention at home, but I personally spend a lot of time with her on the weekends.
Avatar f tn My 7 year old son, who is doing very well at school, gets complaints about being inattentive in the class. His teacher thinks that he needs some medical treatment whereas his pediatrician fully disagrees as he found him rather well behaved intelligent boy who is bit imaginative but completely fine. I am distressed as I hate to receive notes from his teacher. Don’t know what to do. This discussion is related to Focusing issue.
1275696 tn?1349701121 Well, I’m not another mom, but I thought I would try to provide you with a few suggestions for helping to potty train your son. The book that I recommend for anyone toilet training any child is: Azrin, N., & Foxx, R. M. (1974) Toilet Training in Less Than a Day. Simon and Schuster, NY. It is written for typically developing children, but the basics of the potty training procedures apply to everyone.
Avatar m tn He has not had any poop accidents since potty training except when he was sick with diarrhea once months ago. He started preschool for the first time 3 weeks ago. Up until now he has been home with me all the time and has never been in daycare or preschool. He is a little nervous about it all and has a few tears when I drop him off. But he likes it and always has a good time and is happy when I pick him and he tells me all about what he did that day. Twice now he has pooped in his pants.
Avatar f tn Hi there! Well, without knowing the relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include postural issues, lack of exercise/ inadequate warm-up before physical activity, muscular causes such as strain, joint degeneration etc. I would suggest assuming a posture closest to the natural body posture while in training aside regular physical exercise. If the symptoms persist.
1938479 tn?1325705620 This is why pilots must learn to always rely on their instruments, regardless of whether they feel the plane is diving, turning or climbing. During flight training pilots are blindfolded and places on a rotating chair and asked to turn their heads in a certain way. Finally the chair is stopped and the pilot lurches foward, convinced he is being pushed off the chair.
Avatar n tn My 5 year old started kingergarten 2 months ago and is acting up almost everyday at school. She brings home yellos and red bears for the most part which is bad behavior. My question is what is she doing that is so bad in school. Doesn't the teacher know how to deal with children acting up and discipline themselves. It is creating problems at home everytime she gets a colored bear. I have taken things away from her and given her pep talks to change her behavior but nothing is working.
Avatar f tn RockRose My daughter is at risk of flunking this grade and I have already been informed by the teacher and the principal that if she remains in this grade, she will have the same teacher again. This was before the teacher made this statement. My daughter is Oppositonal Defiant, so she has done all she can not to comply for this teacher. She has done her homework at home and never turned it in. She will take test at school and just mark anything.
