Common Questions and Answers about Yoga vinyasa

yoga

Avatar m tn I have read posts that say not to do yoga movements like head stands, but what about Vinyasa (flow) yoga without head stands but with other movements such as Downward Dog that are inversions? Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I LOVED BIkram and did it religiously for 5 years. My skin became constantly red from the flushing and heat and had lots of broken capillaries. I am now paying for it and paying for IPL treatments to keep the capillary damage at bay. I'm scandinavian and prone to redness, wish I knew this before. NOw I do Vinyasa flow and LOVE IT.
Avatar f tn Been doing yoga my whole pregnancy. And other exercises. I'm 33 weeks tomorrow. Baby is 4.5 pounds and I've gained 9.5 pounds total. I do yoga 2x to 3x a week. I do regular vinyasa flow yoga and I'm amazed at my body. Baby loves yoga too...
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a yoga teacher and 9 weeks pregnant with my first :) Anytime the doctor hears you're doing yoga they say yes, great, keep doing it! But they don't know about certain restrictions. Make sure you tell your instructor that you are in your first trimester. Not every teacher is trained in prenatal but yours may be.
1477811 tn?1321386453 You should be as active as possible during treatment. I too had an active and healthy lifestyle before I started. Unfortunately, I have no energy and so my elliptical trainer has seen no action since I began tx. My exercise is limited to long walks and I look forward to resuming workouts when treatment is over.
Avatar n tn Well, someone wrote about a dull ache in the knees after running/jogging. I used to get that whenever I ran on asphalt as opposed to a nice cushy running track. This ache after running prompted me to only use soft surfaces to run on and to wear good shoes etc. This was when I was in my 20's. I've not had the pain at all since and I am now well into my 40's, actually knocking on 50.
1477811 tn?1321386453 I may try a gentle yoga class this coming week. I used to do 2 hour strenuous Vinyasa yoga sessions before I started tx. I can't wait to be able to get back to that though having that kind of strength seems so distant right now.
Avatar f tn Before tx I was doing 2 hour vinyasa yoga sessions. I had to stop completely as my sides have been kind of hard. For the first time since I started tx (December 3rd), I went to my first yoga class a couple of days ago. It was a class for people who have experienced injury or illness and need to ease back into it slowly. I could barely do downward dog without shaking. I hope you are able to keep up your yoga practice during tx.
Avatar f tn I'm 53 years young and I have always been extremely healthy. Meaning no diseases, taking no prescribed medications etc. Now, all of a sudden my primary physician this year informs me that I have a heart murmur, Then I go for a routine breast MRI to check for breast cancer? No cancer (thank God), but I do have a enlarged dilatation of the ascending aorta to 3.5cm and advised to see a cardiologist. What can I expect?
Avatar f tn Im 34+2 is it okay for me to be doing yoga ? My babies prefectly healthy and i am to, does anyone know ?
Avatar f tn Starting yoga tomorrow. First time, ever! 24 weeks and a few days and im a little nervous! Any other mommas do or doing prenatel yogA?
Avatar f tn Is beginner yoga safe while pregnant? Or would I have to do yoga for pregnant women?
Avatar f tn im tring yoga, but after a couple days i am ready to quit from the pain. does it get better or should i quit.
Avatar n tn I do basic yoga asana (asana means that it is less cardio more posture and stretching) since the beginning of my pregnancy. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday and it relieve my minor pains (hips, pelvic, lower back, buttocks and thighs). It also help to have a good posture and strengthen your core muscles for birth and baby position. It is great to take that time for you to relax. Sincerely, yoga is a revelation for me.
Avatar f tn Thanks! Do you all take regular yoga or prenatal ? I already joined a gym and they have yoga classes a few days a week but not prenatal yoga.
Avatar n tn i want to ask that if yoga therapy is the best way of losing weight.
Avatar n tn Downward-Facing Dog This popular “fix all, relax all” yoga pose may feel good after a long vinyasa, but not if your sciatica is currently acting up. Downward-Facing Dog not only stretches the hamstrings, but your calves and tendons down to your heel Downward-Facing Dog and yoga are recommended for maintaining your condition, but only after acute sciatic pain has subsided. 2.
Avatar f tn sensation, everything else, like all my reflexes came out normal. My strength came out normal (thank you vinyasa yoga) even though I have a hard time opening jars etc. with my right hand and drop stuff alot with that hand, like I can't manipulate things as well with that hand. I gave him a 6 page typed timeline with dates (mo/year) of every episode I could remember, 1 in 2004 and more in 2008 and 2009.
1900462 tn?1352775302 When did you guys start your prenatal yoga classes? Is it better to start your yoga as soon as you can so you can strengthen your pelvic muscles for labor later on or what? I was thinking it would be better to do it earlier and continue throughout the pregnancy but idk. What do you guys think?
Avatar f tn So I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have to find a new way to exercise. I I've in Wisconsin and the wind shield is already below ten. So it's too cold for me to be going on daily walks. Would yoga be a good alternative? Or what can I do as an alternative so I'm still getting my exercise.
10033740 tn?1458081962 I just recently heard about pregnancy yoga. I'm thinking about buying a couple DVDs so that I can do this at home. I'm currently a stay at home mom, 12wks + 3, with my second child after 9yrs. I just wanna stay active and also fit for labor. Anybody try it before?
Avatar f tn Has anyone had success with the yoga ball or exercise ball on inducing labor ?
Avatar f tn I just want my waters to break! So anyway i got a yoga ball, it gave me intence pressure on my pubic bone after about 30 mins of using it so i stopped. Is this meant to happen or??
10028419 tn?1416841704 Last week i wasnt thinned or dilated and i know sex helps which ive been doing lol but i have a yoga ball and i was gonna try bouncing a little on it and rolling around moving my hips. Would this help move my progress along? Or am i wasting my time?
Avatar f tn Hi ladies! Maybe I'm the last person to discover this but I was shopping yesterday for sports bras I can sleep in - my boobs are sorest in the morning when I wake up. I'm petite but boobs are big, but the problem with most sports bras is they are meant for sports, hello, so they actively compress. I stumbled upon what turned out to be a yoga bra ($5 on clearance!) and it's PERFECT. Not a lot of fabric or compression but just enough support for sleeping and lounging.
