I've also had good luck with natural supplements 5-htp and melatonin..
681148 tn?1437661591 I am required to do some specific stretching exercises by the doctor for my own health issues. I absolutely have to use a Yoga mat for this, because the floor is tile covered concrete. Akira likes the smell or something of the Yoga mat. But, she obviously enjoys getting in the middle of things when I'm doing these exercises. All I can do is laugh and give her lots of loves and pets.
Avatar n tn Well, someone wrote about a dull ache in the knees after running/jogging. I used to get that whenever I ran on asphalt as opposed to a nice cushy running track. This ache after running prompted me to only use soft surfaces to run on and to wear good shoes etc. This was when I was in my 20's. I've not had the pain at all since and I am now well into my 40's, actually knocking on 50.

Avatar f tn Your body will improve and your quality of life and I know it works for chronic pain. Go online to Yoga.com and get yourself a good yoga mat that helps you not slip and easier to do the stretches with the mat. I also recommend Yoga Toes, these are a silicone based toe stretchers that I put on my feet every day, I feel so energized and no longer suffer from leg cramps at night time. Well there is my speech, whatever way you go I hope you heal well and improve every day.
Avatar f tn The plank is one of the top abdominal toning exercises. Perform a plank by lying face-down on a mat. Push yourself up so that you are resting on your toes and forearms with elbows underneath your shoulders. Contract your abdominals by drawing your belly button into your spine. Your body should form a straight line from head to toes. Hold this position until fatigue sets in or aim to hold for 30 to 45 seconds, progressing to one minute holds.
Avatar f tn Okay so I can't go to the gym. I get really bad anxiety, like I'll go to walk through the door and start crying. I've always been this way. I walk an hour a day but I'm trying to get in shape and loose 10lbs for vacation in August.
Avatar f tn I slept right through last night without the pillow this time. Check your mattress, maybe put a foam/gym/yoga type mat on top to give that firm shaping sensation if your mattress is too soft.
Avatar f tn I know what helps me is getting on my hands and knees on my yoga mat. You can also have your husband apply pressure to the sides of your hips and push up while you're in that position. It helps a little. You can also sit on a birth ball and do mini hip circles. Or sit on the floor and stretch your Sides out. like left arm up in the air, head turned up towards hand to open up your rib cage. The more stretchy I feel the less pain I feel.
649848 tn?1534633700 Well, Ranaesheart suggested the other day that I do a post about yoga, since I suggest it whenever someone new comes into the community, so I'm going to give it a shot. I must confess, I am definitely a novice with yoga myself, but I learn more as I go along. I know there are several different kinds of yoga, ranging from what I do, which is slow and deliberate to another type that is very physical. Each kind of yoga has its own name and no, I don't know them all.
3154277 tn?1494212160 ve switched to wearing thicker flipflops made from yoga mat material...so comfortable! The itching seems to have stopped since I've stopped wearing the "Joe" flipflops... I was thinking the itching might have been a response to pressure exerted on bottom of my feet b/c of the Joe flipflop's thin soles. Anyway, it's all good, and thanks again.
Avatar f tn I have to wear yoga mat flip flops and my wedding rings are on a chain around my neck as well.
Avatar f tn I am 12 weeks and wearing some mat pants. My regular clothes still fit fine but i had bought some cute work pants i couldn't wait to wear. Switch whenever you are ready. They have come a long way over the years so people shouldn't even notice they are mat clothes.

1801781 tn?1461629469 When you first started posting here, you were concerned about doing yoga because of your back. And I answered you, telling you how much I loved yoga and what a great experience it is. BUT, If you have a back issue, you may want to go slow, or start with some other form of exercise, as certain types of yoga can be hard on the back.
Avatar n tn I've read that you can easily have them change positions based on your daily activities. Use a yoga mat, because you will be on your hands and knees for a little while. And rock back and forward. You can also do it on the couch but your hips should be slightly lower than your upper body.
