1448936 tn?1363209946 I suffer from severe health anxiety and I've noticed that a lot of people posting here do too. I wanted to make this thread for everyone to post about their health anxiety, the tests that have been done and most likely come back negative, and how each person deals with it on a daily basis. My health anxiety is focused on my stomach. I constantly worry about what's going on with it and focus on every little feeling.
10947 tn?1281407852 You drive home, then sit at the dinner table, and then settle down in front of the TV. Sounds normal enough, right? Well, here’s some some bad news: All this sitting could be killing you. Think this sounds ridiculous? A new study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology may change your mind. Researchers analyzed survey responses from 123,216 people with no history of cancer, heart attack, stroke, or lung disease.
Avatar m tn I didn't say it, but he could tell there was an anxiety problem present and directed me to visit my college's mental health center. He also prescribed me Ativan, my first medication for anxiety. At the time it was a Godsend. Begining with my school's mental health doctors I began trying various anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medications. I spent about 3 years jumping from medication to medication with very little help.

Avatar m tn Other things that help to alleviate symptoms more quickly and are easier, are TigerBalm rub (minty kind of like Bengay) (from drugstore or healthfood store) and something you find at health food store called Arnica rub, and the Tiger Balm I only use at night because it smells but the Arnica cream I use during the day. In my case. . .
Avatar f tn If you have already taken this step and nothing has happened you should contact your local Mental Health center- these centers are normally within the department of health and human service, if not they can direct you to where. Meanwhile try doing some centering exercises (like yoga) I know it sounds weird but it will help calm your mind and help enhance your concentration time. Also, if you are watching a lot of TV I would recommend you limiting that.

I could say this is my 2012 New Year's resolution, but I have been given this mission by my doc since July 2011, so I should really call it a lifestyle change. I may even try growing my own vegetables to be more in tune with nutritional matters. Here's useful information from the Lighten Up SGV community: http://www.lightenupsgv.
Avatar n tn If that doesn't work, you can try exercise, yoga, meditation, maintain a healthy diet, take a multi-vitamin, drink plenty of water, talk to friends on the phone, hang out with friends, watch funny movies and TV shows, listen to uplifting music, think postively (no matter what's going on in your life) and believe that tomorrow your life can only get better, forgive yourself for mistakes and bad choices you've made, read self-help books that focus on accepting things you cannot change so that
Avatar m tn For the past week I have been going through some pretty bad health anxiety. I became convinced I had lung or throat cancer, even though i've never smoked in my life. The anxiety has given me intense panic attacks where my heart is racing, my adrenaline is flowing non stop, my hands and feet are numb, I have totally lost my appetite, I have constant stomach gurgling and diarreah, and insomnia.
Avatar m tn everytime i hear loud shouting or angry or emotionally depressed or have seen a news which involved death even on cartoons or in reading flash news on tv it seems i felt this sensation beginning from my stomach then from my feet up then shortness of breth as if my body is trying to regulate my breathing, i felt this sensation that their is going something to happen to me, that is why i always pay attention to my heartrate and breathing, i dont know if their is really something wrong inside me or
Avatar f tn I started 15 minutes and worked up. I do yoga. Moves that are to hard I skip. I swim. I lift weights 2-3 pounds watching TV.
315996 tn?1429057829 but supplement a little to keep up your immune system, if you'd like, and eat, really really well (veggies, nuts, a lttle fruit) till you decide what to do, exercise, yoga, lots of clean, good water, be that health freak you've always detested, lol...just kidding!
Avatar m tn Your muscles are out of balance. That's why you are supposed to have balance in all things. You need to have a more well-rounded exercise life, so take up working out at a gym with a trainer or take yoga classes or something to strengthen and stretch your body back to something beautiful. You don't have to live out of balance. It's your choice.
Avatar f tn I am embarking on a life change either way. I can choose health or illness in my next decades. It took a long time to get here. I want some advise for getting the gut gone.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome to the community. I had to go back and read your original post. It would be easier if you add to the same post each time, rather than starting a whole new one, then we don't have to keep switching back and forth to see what's gone before. But that's ok - you'll get the hang of things. Have you been to see your doctor to make sure that you don't have any medical issues that might sabotage weight loss, such as thyroid, pre-diabetes/insulin resistance, etc?
750946 tn?1270291732 It sounds like you've hit on a pretty good plan there -- slow and steady is the best way to do it, so you can make the changes last. I'm not familiar with the "Biggest Loser Yoga for Weight Loss" DVD, but I love yoga. Yoga stretches your muscles and strengthens your core muscles. I am not normally one for slow boring things either, but the movements in yoga are so deliberate it takes a lot of concentration to get the poses right. It's also very low impact.
492869 tn?1285022533 if the sensory vest things like the pressure vest induce deeper breathing, I wonder if yoga breathing practicing would help you out. I can't do yoga well at all (I just got a Wii fit and it has yoga on it and boy do I stink up a storm), but the breathing exercises are more manageable.
Avatar n tn hi all, So I have just started my health kick I am a mum of 2 girls (ages 2 and 8 months) does anyone have any pointers on getting my belly tonned and getting rid of the wobble :) I am exercising every night and doing roughly 13000 steps a day! Avatar m tn I noticed a few days ago that I've been leaning on one wrist with my other elbow while watching TV/the computer, which is quite a bit. This gave me a few hours of strange sensitivity on my thenar and bottom of my thumb. I poked a prodded it nervously until I gave it what feels like a very mild sprained like feeling. Anyway I just noticed today that my left hand is a little tremor-y when I move it, particularly my thumb. It's making my really anxious.
Avatar n tn If I was your age, and dating, someone that might become my spouse, I would get involved in an exercise program together, try yoga if you haven't already. Also , there's new information out there about health and nutrition. Cancer rates are soaring because the Food Guide is totally out of date. For instance, the salt that they say you can have everyday, is considered by some pretty top doctors to be totally out of whack, (far too much for daily consumption).
Avatar m tn There are some things that you can do to help clear out the plaque, but do understand that at a certain point, it's very important to not rely on doing this on your own- you should be under a doctors care so they know the severity of the condition. First, you can watch your fats- don't eat foods high in saturated fats- keep away from vegetable oils and things like that. You can add in good fats too- Omega 3 fatty acids for example- fish, avocados, nuts all are a great source for this.
958098 tn?1246812818 Bum muscles, tummy muscles, back, neck and leg muscles. #4. Do sit ups at home while watching TV. #5. Make extra trips up and down the stairs as fast as you can. (dont trip!) #6. Get a yoga ball and do exercises with that such as holding it between your feet while laying on the floor and lifting it over your body with straight legs. Lay on your back, knees bent with it between your feet and bring your knees to your chest. You can find more exercises with a ball online.
Avatar f tn You just have to keep your mind active, tv, read a book, clean the house a little, make plans to see people for a orange juice... those I've found have been the best for me.
Avatar n tn If your doctor feels comfortable that you have a structurally normal heart and normal EKG, running should not be a problem. Short bursts of SVT are almost never a problem, especially if they only last a second or two. It is pretty normal to be wiped out after two hour run, I can tell you that from experience. If the super long stuff bothers, cut back to shorter distances. Why do it if it isn't fun or if it causes you anxiety.
