Avatar n tn Hello, I have been wanting to train in Mixed Martial Arts for a long time but I was born with Supraventricular Tachycardia so I don't know if my heart is strong enough for MMA so if you could please help me with this problem of mine or know something that can help, I would be very happy.
Avatar n tn One other source "close to home" is your school. Check with your PE teacher or any coach for advice on correct lifting form and other activities you can do that won't damage your shoulders any further. I've seen so many people in the gym who hurt themselves like this by using too much weight too soon; and as you already mentioned, incorrect form. You get much more benefit from lifting less weight using correct form. Hopefully you haven't damaged yourself permanently.
Avatar m tn Hallo. I am doing martial arts. I read about some cases of HIV transmission during bloody fight. Somtimes during training I hit and hurt my oponent and it once resulted in small bloody spot on my hand. Despite I hit him in the teeth, skin on my hand was intact and I cleaned it with soap. No sign of cut or scratch. Is there any chance that some small leasion that might bee a result of blow in the teath and I did not notice it could transmit HIV or hepatitis?
Avatar m tn I am into martial arts. Would my active martial arts training dislodge the IOL through this hole created by YAG laser? What if I get hit in the head? Thanks.
Avatar f tn philosophical traditions of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, with Yoga influences; traditional Chinese medicine and martial arts; along with influences of contemporary concepts of health, science, meditation, and exercise. Archeological evidence suggests that the first forms of qigong can be linked to ancient shamanic meditative practice and gymnastic exercises.
Avatar m tn m very conscience of what I eat, and consider myself very healthy. I snowboard religiously, cycle, and compete in martial arts (japanese fencing) tournaments. However, in 2000, I tore my ACL in my right knee and had ACL replacement surgery. In 2003 I again tore the ACL in my right knee, along with my meniscus cartilage. After my second surgery I never felt like I healed right. I had a lot of muscle atrophy and it never really got back to the muscle tone it once had.
Avatar n tn ll get a response but will i be able to continue competitive martial arts after the hardware is put in? i am aware the road back is a long curvy one but just how long and curvy?
5536886 tn?1455827346 Find something you like to do and do it -- play basketball, or tennis, or soccer, or do martial arts, or yoga -- whatever you really like doing. And in the meantime, keep moving in your daily life -- it's a sedentary life that is bad for you, not avoiding "exercise." Walk to where you're going, bicycle to where you're going, don't sit down all day. If you do that, exercise becomes less necessary.
Avatar f tn I do a lot of physical activity. Especially yoga and martial arts, but lately I've been noticing my abdominal muscles are tight almost all the time! I'm usually a very flexible person, and I thought your muscles were supposed to loosen up during pregnancy, so I'm confused about why this happens. I thought I'd be more flexible, not less. Do only some pregnant women have relaxin?
1441177 tn?1294224618 (pls find my previous posts) I am wondering, could it by my sudden stop in practicing Aikido martial arts that caused my vestibular disorder??? Sorry this is a very WEIIIRRD question, but for a depressed and hopeless young man like me, anything weird comes into my mind. I've been doing Aikido martial arts before, that was way back year 1998 up to maybe year 2003 and i was very active then.
1052673 tn?1287671948 Hey, that fitness can be achieved again. After abusing my body, mind and spirit for years with alcohol, I walked into a Dojang and took up TaeKwonDo ha ha. I'd always wanted to do martial arts as a kid. Went from Oompa Loompa white belt, to lean mean fighting machine black. Went from a walk around the block first week sober to 8 martial arts sessions a week. Didn't happen overnight, but with faith, effort and commitment, you can achieve your goals.
707563 tn?1626361905 I think you're trying to say people need movement, not steps. Swimming, martial arts, yoga, bicycling etc. don't require steps. My own opinion is that everyone knows pretty well if they get enough movement, and you can tell your weight by how your clothes fit and how large your belly is getting. The steps thing is an advertising gimmick to sell Fit Bits, and another way to make us increase our stress levels. Peace.
Panda U-jam is a hip-hop class and Body Combat is a mixed martial arts class. They are group x classes and are great cardio that focus on HIIT (high intensity interval training). I used to take martial arts when I was in high school, so Body Combat and Turbo Kickboxing are right up my alley, next to any type of dance. I've always had a bad right knee due to Osgood Schlatter. Now my left knee is starting to act up due to knee effusion.
Avatar m tn At most ( all of them I think ) of martial arts schools / dojos of my town no blood tests are required to join the class. Actually, there is also the window period so even if blood tests were mandatory, there would still be a chance for an HIV+ person to join the class. Moreover, some HIV+ people would not even care about others and join the class anyway.
Avatar n tn Also, the spiritual aspect of Yoga is at best suspect as well as martial arts(esp. in advanced degrees). Did they know this other language as a second language already? Find a deliverance ministry in a reputable church (not Catholic - they assign bigger demons to cast out weaker ones and the patient is then much worse off!) and seek spiritual help.

Avatar f tn The doctor believes this attack was triggered by martial arts, since I had a test two days before the event, and recommended I quit due to the stress. I love martial arts, and would like to continue in them, so can you suggest anything I can talk to my doctor about? I am willing to get a wrist heart monitor to wear during training sessions, and would like to hear any other suggestions that will allow me to get back into training.
Avatar f tn send him outside SERIOUS martial arts training- will keep him interested in the protection of others and self defense- Get him in a karate school that teachers mottos that instill self discipline- fighting is DISCOURAGED- but a warrior mentality of protecting the innocent is encouraged. So this is not just physical, it teaches emotional and ethical integrity if you get in a good school---- so ask around- My son teaches Kung Fu.
Avatar m tn I am into a lot of strainous physical activities such as running , lifting weights and martial arts. I would like to know if activities such as jumping, running ,lifting weights are to be avoided? For your feedback please. Thank you.
1102149 tn?1259692962 t do any high-risk exercise or let anyone punch you. Doing martial arts is good for the stretching part, which you will certainly need when you are preggers and can't tie your own shoes anymore lol.
Avatar f tn Is anyone still doing regular exercise and if so what type? I'm 36w and go to a martial arts school twice a week for 1-2hrs for a Tai Chi class.
Avatar f tn Keep doing what you were doing prior to getting pregnant I didn't slow down my workouts until about 30 or 32 weeks pregnant. .. as long as you feel OK and nothing hurts its fine. But definitely don't do the sparring or impact part of your martial arts. Pregnant women are not made of glass!
Avatar f tn Boxing and martial arts are totally out. Also avoid amusement type rides that whip, jerk and snap the head and body around.
Avatar n tn Also I have practical, personal and specialized career training/experience in a few fields like Policing and Martial Arts so I was wondering if you might consider the following. I have heard many times from a few mothers who have children with special needs such as Down syndrome, Autism and ADHD/ADD, that behaviour sometimes specifically aggression has become an issue for them. (I also run a YMCA group for children with special needs.
