451191 tn?1264432890 I wanted to pass along this link to everyone. I have been practicing Bikram Yoga for 7 years and have found it's benefits to be many. So much so, that I have decided to get certified to teach and hopefully open my own studio someday. My own experience has been this: since my TT in April and RAI in May I have not gained ONE single ounce, have maintained a consistent energy level and my TSH levels always fall within normal ranges. http://www. yogapassion. com/testimonials/12.
Avatar n tn Hello, I would very much like to know if doing Bikram Yoga is good or bad for your skin. Basically, it is quite strenuous yoga done for 1 and a half hours, in a room that is generally 40 degrees or 104 celsius. The arguments are that it is good for you because you have to drink so much water your skin becomes hydrated, and secondly because you are sweating for an hour and a half your skin sweats out all of the toxins creating hydrated, clear skin.
Avatar f tn I use to practise bikram yoga 5-6 times a week. When we found out I was pg, my doc said it was too hot and I was instructed to stop until 2nd trimester. I lost the baby and have always wondered if the yoga played a part in the mc. Since the mc, I have cut way back. But it's been a year and we still haven't gotten pg. We want a baby but how long do I put my life on hold... I went to yoga 4 times a week during the first two weeks of this cycle.
Avatar n tn I had a thyroid lobectomy 20 days ago. Can I start practicing Yoga? What yoga poses shouldn't i do after thyroid surgery ?
Avatar f tn Ovaz- I get so excited when I hear others talk about Bikram because I love it so much! Just remember that it is really difficult at first, but once you get those toxins out of your body and learn to ignore the heat it is wonderful- I am actually at a point where I don't think it is hot enough! I remember after my first class (5 years ago) I had a terrible migraine for 2 days because all the toxins were leaving my system.... it sucked.
Avatar f tn Hi Moonflower, You have made the right call, in my humble opinion, about giving up Bikram yoga. I have been practicing yoga for almost 13 years and for the past few years, it was mostly a Bikram yoga practice. I just fell in love with the heat and that rush of adrenaline after class. I am 38 years old and I was practicing Bikram when I got pregnant this February. I lost the baby at 10 weeks in April.
368461 tn?1291515587 I breast fed exclusively so I was in a size 6 within months. Then, when he was 6 months old, I started Bikram Yoga and the rest of my weight just melted off- I was back in a 2 within 2 months. For this pregnancy I have purchased a postpartum workout video specially designed for that in- between period before you can really strain. I would recommend doing something like that at first, until your body is fully healed.
Avatar f tn The fight over who owns yoga got a lot of attention a few years back when Bikram Choudhury said a series of yoga positions done in a room heated to over 100 degrees was his intellectual property. Legal fights ensued. http://www.npr.
Avatar f tn I have been doing 7 miles a day on the stair stepper, but I am having trouble losing the weight. I plan on going back to bikram yoga in another 2 months when the twins are on solids and I can leave them for 2 hours at a time. My goal is to be back in a size 4 by September. What are you ladies doing to drop the weight? How is it going?
213398 tn?1202670474 thank you i will tell him about this and just email him this paragraph. i tried bikram a few times do you think this is better than bikram yoga??
284738 tn?1283106819 Anyway I did breast feed afterwards (for 18 months) and I started doing Bikram Yoga. It is a very intense form of yoga practiced in a 105 degree room for 90 minutes. I LOVE IT! I have been going for 5 years now... Firstly you lose anywhere between 300 and 500 calories a day from nursing and between 500 and 800 calories from Bikram so I lost all the weight and then some in 6 months. Before I knew it I was back in a size two, no stretch marks, no saggy skin- bikini ready.
Avatar n tn the rash appeared 12 hours after a session of bikram yoga (was very hot in that class room) regardless i have convinced myself i have HIV.
Avatar f tn "Hot Yoga" is known as Bikram Yoga which is yoga done in a room with the temperature of 100 degrees or maybe a tad more. Since my body does not do well at all in any type of heat this form of yoga is totally out for me. I do have a good friend who has done Bikram for years and loves it. Good Luck and Congratulations!
Avatar f tn But trust in your body, there is no thinking required in labor, your body truly does all the work. I have done bikram yoga in the past and I swear the meditation techniques I learned from yoga majorly helped me through labor.
435139 tn?1255460391 Before I got pregnant I had been doing Bikram Yoga daily- I so am normally used to an intense daily workout (I have been going for 5 years). Because of the high heat (110 degrees for 90 minutes) I stopped when we found out. Then I started jogging on the treadmill for an hour a day, but once I hit my third trimester I started getting really strong contractions while I was jogging.
Avatar f tn ve also tried yoga (hatha, bikram), pilates, various types of bootcamp and recently the bar method - all of which I enjoy. If there's weightloss, I can usually see it in my face and upper body, however my problem areas are my abdomen, obliques and thighs. With most exercise regimens I've tried, I've noticed that I don't make much progress in my problem areas. In fact, my pants fit tighter - especially around the thighs, probably due to muscle gain.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much Dr SanjivaniWanjari I take good care of myslef thru healthy clean eatging and exercise , Bikram Yoga is my exercise of choice now. No jumping and it is so rewarding to know I am detoxifying as I lose weight. I have had an exam with my last pap a couple of weeks ago and my Dr said Ihave no prolapse. I do have the mesh sling so I thought that i had failed to do it's job but I think that aging and gravity is winning this battle.
Avatar n tn a few weeks ago, I had suffered a lower back injury at Bikram (Hot) Yoga. Yoga which is performed in a room at 105 farenheit for 90 minutes. Last night, I was unable to lye on my back and witnessed excruciating pain in left thigh above the knee. When I raise my leg from lying down, the pain is unbearable. I practice this yoga 3 times a week for the past 14 years. I stayed away from the practice for 10 days and the pain appeared to have disappeared. Well not entirely.
362249 tn?1441315018 He said I was spread too thin and needed to make some changes b4 I could even consider ttc. This included, yoga (i practice bikram yoga), eating more organic foods, soy milk, losing weight to gain more energy, etc...I am happy to say that he was right. I am a much healthier and happier person. Plus, I have lost 18 lbs since last year so I am ecstatic.
Avatar f tn I do interval running, do bikrum or hot yoga. I believe my body is getting used to all that so I am doing kickboxing now and bikrum. In the past 6 months of me working out i have lost 4 to 6 pounds and gained it back lost it and gained it back. UGH it is so frustrating. I am stronger now and look more lean, but I can't get this scale to go down. I eat healthy except on certain weekends. Everything I eat is whole wheat. I hardly eat processed foods. I have carbs about once a day.
Avatar f tn Since we're on the subject of exercising, is everyone really trying to monitor their heart rate while exercising (keep it under 140?) I've read mixed stuff on the importance of sticking to this particular number. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? It's all so confusing!
Avatar n tn beyond the inhaler, my main solution was switching to defense/sweeper positions for soccer/field hockey/lax. i also find doing exercise like bikram yoga and pilates is a safer alternative, never lose my breath doing those and you can still get a serious workout!
Avatar f tn Try having sex and bouncing on yoga ball I have been and I'm at 3cm going to continue im sure in 14 days seems to help and I did the same with my daughter took 2 days of bouncing but it seemed to work for me hope this helps x
Avatar f tn Sounds like you worry at night and let your thoughts get out of hand , if you can into the habit of thinking about nice things ie a garden of shrubs and flowers or a beach , when you lay down at night do not think of anything negative, let your mind go to the same nice, happy place it can be any scene you feel comfortable in that doesnt excite but only is a quiet place, wander round in your mind in the place.
368461 tn?1291515587 Once I get the go ahead from my midwife I will be going back to Bikram Yoga... and I cannot wait for that day- I feel the need to sweat!
Avatar f tn My hospital doesn't provide anything, keep you in 5 nights for a csection even tho its my 2nd, and expect you to wear normal day clothes and go for little walks to the cafe and garden etc so I've packed yoga pants and loose tops, pyjamas, flat shoes and slippers, black underwear in the next size up for comfort and 'leakage', maternity bras, maternity pads, breastpads, a nice body wash for my first shower, hair brush, shampoo/conditioner, make up, toothbrush and toothpaste.
294043 tn?1354207946 I worked part time until my 36th week with my twins. I also continued my bikram yoga practice up until the day before they were born (39.2 weeks). If you remain healthy and take it easy you can work until 33 weeks. Just be sure to listen to your body.
