Yoga helps build muscle (which burns fat) and is great for toning. You can do a google search for different yoga videos, that you can watch for free, in order to learn how to do it.
Avatar n tn It's a great addition. Yoga tends to be more mussel building and toning your body, when working out to loose weight you need a good combination of cardio and body toning. I love doing Yoga and it's very helpful to me, but if I didn't walk/run on a treadmill I wouldn't have lost any weight.

Avatar f tn I do some yoga. I tend not to do an entire program but I do use some poses and occasionally pop on my prenatal yoga CD for a bit. I enjoy cat/cow and tree pose and downward facing dog and child's pose a lot. Hip rolls and torso twists. Also do some modified planks now. I really fell off of my exercise regimen after getting pregnant but I do try to at least stretch every day, do a touch of yoga, and do some leg and arm lifts and curls with light weights.

For stress try yoga, breathing techniques and again concentrate on eating slowly and chewing food thoroughly. Avatar f tn i am 23 weeks and really havent gained weight however i dont think it is from the yoga i think its just me that im not gaining weight. I have a great instructor and it really helps with the stress and crazness of being pregnant. And its a wonderful bonding experience with your baby. I feel so close to my son. A lot has to do with the yoga intsructor, the way she relaxes the class and she knows just the right positions for pregnant women. I highly recomend it.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about doing yoga. It's great for weight loss, yet you can ease into it, as your body allows. The other thing is walking. Walking is one of the all around most effective exercises there is and most people can do it, if only for short periods.

Eat the calories your comfortable with, but cut your portions of red meat, carbohydrates, and starches (like potatoes) in half at least! fill up on fruit, veggies, beans, drink plenty of water and cranberry juice, but not too much. everything in moderation is key! even carbs.

I will advise you to stay away from people who always talk about diet, losing weight, weight reduction etc.Avoid reading any such magazines or literature. You need to start eating normally to break the binge-purge cycle. Relaxation exercises, yoga, walking may help. Discuss about your medication causing weight gain and if any alternative drug can be taken.

Avatar m tn Exercise lowers IOP but not for long, alcohol same thing, THC cannabis same thing, CBD cannabis recently found to increase IOP and be bad for glaucoma, yoga with head lowered especially standing on head greatly raises IOP in the eye and is a bad thing. The most direct answer would be that stress reduction helps many diseases but not any major role in glauoma.
Business woman2 Talk to your doctor about trying yoga. There are yoga routines for nearly every level of ability, all the way from losing big time, to chair yoga for seniors. Not sure if you're a senior, but maybe chair yoga would be a place to start. That said, since you can't get a lot of exercise, you will have to limit calories in order to lose weight.
Avatar n tn hi lapse, hope you'll be fine now, I think walking for a few minutes is good for you at the moment and you can extend it gradually as you get healthier, it will certainly help you losing weight and manageing your cholesterol level but there is a supplement as well for weight loss, beyond weight management tea, it's just a brand of tea with a good taste, just tke it half an hour before you take your meal.

I've ordered a yoga dvd as I've been told this could help lose weight but not to much that it harms the baby, tones and stretches the muscles to help with labour. Has anyone tried this before? Would you recommend it? Can you lose weight while pregnant and still have a healthy baby?
