Common Questions and Answers about Yoga for quads

Avatar f tn Relax into your stretch, and do not bounce. Yoga is an effective practice for maximally stretching the muscles throughout your body. For best results, the American College of Sports Medicine recommends you stretch all your major muscle groups at least twice per week. Make sure to stretch all major groups AFTER warming up for five to 10 minutes. Incorporate stretching-focused activities such as yoga and tai chi in your weekly exercise routine to loosen up even more.
Avatar f tn Of course you know that! But it sounds like maybe yoga would be better for you than weight lifting... or maybe both?
Avatar f tn what if you end up with quads???? I have my fingers and my toes crossed for you. Super Glue Babies and Tons and Tons of Baby Dust!!!!!!!!!!!!
738075 tn?1330575844 So I drove 45 minutes home (it let up about 10 minutes before I got home). Did some Yoga on my own, Hubby stretched my quads, and rubbed out back spasms. Made dinner, cleaned up, went to bed, and woke at about 1:30 with leg spasms. Leaped out of bed, swearing, trying to stretch it all out. Climbed back into bed, and for the next 4 1/2 hours, repeated the pattern. Work was tough the next day, and thankfully, I was able to leave early because it was slow.
Avatar m tn screws, bone pack, L3,4,5 in 1968, 44 years ago. Have had burning in quads for many years after only few minutes walking. Stairs are nearly impossible. Can't rise from a squat. Avatar f tn So the other day I had my ultrasound for my quad screening coming out high.the us came out normal and our boy weighs around 14 oz measuring on track at 20 weeks. I opted to get a blood test done that is 99% accurate in telling if he has down syndrome instead of an amnio. I guess my question is has anyone ever heard of having a normal us and the baby still having downs.
Avatar m tn Haha... Not a happy one for sure... I'm following some occupational therapy for my quads like cycling on an exercise bike and also normal bike as I always do! I remember someone saying reiki would help when i'd 1st got this problem but I just wanted to confirm that before actually spending money on it and finding out later that it isn't gonna do much!
Avatar f tn The girl who lives down the road from me is only 17 and pregnant with quads!!! Please dont think im being judgmental at all!!
Avatar f tn Please don't feel bad about whatever you choose to do. At the end of the day, it's your life and you'll be the one who has to manage with whatever you've decided to do. If you feel that you can't take care of 4 babies together at once (which I admit I could not, myself) then the good news is that you have options available. Is just a matter of deciding which option to choose.
363110 tn?1340920419 an exam proved all other muscle groups/tendons to be working fine except for the quads, my upper left quads. as a matter of fact the other muscle groups have strengthened to compensate for the quads the muscle won't fire at all, no twitch, nothing, leading my leg to go out from under me if bent more than just a bit with weight on it . the muscles are seriously atrophied, about 1/2 the size of my other thigh in front.
419158 tn?1316571604 I had the crazyest dream last night that I was pregnant with quads!!! 4 babies in my belly at once!!! I went and had an u/s done and could see all the babies as clear as day each in their own bag of fluid. So all were faternal. Omg. Thats just crazy.
Avatar f tn I am not expecting quadruplets but I wish you the best of luck and congrats on the pregnancy :)
Avatar n tn I have been doing the elliptical a lot for the past 2 months and the past few days my quadriceps and shins have been killing me. My quads are extremely tight. I went for a massge today and it still aches. Could this be due to my use of the elliptical for lengthy periods of time at a high intensity? My feet also turn in when I walk and I have been wearing flip flops all the time lately so Im thinking that could be it as well. Any thoughts/help?
Avatar f tn Im 21 years old and 19 weeks pregnant and yesterday I got my quads tests results and it came back positive this wed. I go in for more "in depth" ultrasound. I was wondering what should I expect to happen at this appointment?
Avatar m tn Hi there, I am a 26 year old male and I have been having a lot of problems lately. I feel like my quads have developed too much and the rest of my body is suffering from it. My hamstrings are incredibly weak and I have no strength in my lower calves. They are jutting up into my back and it has become very painful. When I walk, I am hunched over, and it has become rather difficult to stay mobile. I have been trying to do exercises and stretches to compensate, but it seems to no avail.
Avatar n tn Flip gently over to your stomach and lay flat. Lift one leg up behind you, bend your knee, and grip your foot or ankle with the hand on the same side (i.e. right foot, right hand) Pull your foot as close to your body as possible, but don’t pull too hard. Go for a relaxing stretch, not an intense burn. Three Exercises to Avoid With Sciatica When sciatica pain is at its worst these stretches may seem like common sense, instinctual exercises to do… but they can actually make your pain worse. 1.
Avatar f tn Well, as far as my doctor goes he never examined me he just said I probably had some swelling from the surgery and that was it. He did say go back to pt but im not comfortable with that cause it makes me feel worse than before I even went. Im in alot of pain and I fall about 2-3 times a day. Avatar n tn I do basic yoga asana (asana means that it is less cardio more posture and stretching) since the beginning of my pregnancy. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday and it relieve my minor pains (hips, pelvic, lower back, buttocks and thighs). It also help to have a good posture and strengthen your core muscles for birth and baby position. It is great to take that time for you to relax. Sincerely, yoga is a revelation for me.
Avatar f tn I do some yoga. I tend not to do an entire program but I do use some poses and occasionally pop on my prenatal yoga CD for a bit. I enjoy cat/cow and tree pose and downward facing dog and child's pose a lot. Hip rolls and torso twists. Also do some modified planks now. I really fell off of my exercise regimen after getting pregnant but I do try to at least stretch every day, do a touch of yoga, and do some leg and arm lifts and curls with light weights.
Avatar f tn Omg it's a life saver. I've been doing yoga for years & it's so good for your body but most importantly your mental state. I'm only 9 weeks but plan to keep practicing throughout my pregnancy. Just tell the teacher you are pregnant if its not obvious & they will give you options if there is anything you should avoid. Stick with it you won't regret it.
