1580703 tn?1651904887 I developed asthma after being around 2nd hand smoke for a few months. Does this mean that my lungs will get worse with time? What can I do to improve my lung function? thanks very much!
Avatar f tn I've tried some herbal remedies and some sort of worked but ad-vair works the best for me. I am some day going to take Buteyko classes and maybe yoga. I'm thinking that anything that helps with how you breath is worth a try. About the atenolol, it works great for slowing your heart rate down but if you have circulation issues in your legs it will make it worse!
Avatar f tn I get a burning sensation when I exercise, I know I'm out of shape. How long does it take for your lungs to get back and shape to where I don't get that sensation or get so winded when I work out? Any advice would be helpful, I really want to get in shape but being out of breath makes it hard to keep it up.
213398 tn?1202670474 My thoughs are that asthma is a form of inflamation (bronchial inflamation) , hence i think it may be beneficial for asthma. However i want to be sure that there are no negative effects for asthma. Before i ask my brother , who suffers from chronic asthma to eat food with added Turmeric. Any thoughts from anyone?

Avatar m tn Deep breathing exercises, blowing into a balloon, yoga, brisk walking etc all make your lungs strong. Along with this you need to quit smoking, avoid second hand smoke, avoid polluted areas with smoke and dust, and eat healthy and drink 6-8 glasses of water every day. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
1578864 tn?1296305385 I was diagnosed with RRMS in 1998 and been a fair selection of the various MS symtoms, MS the disease that keeps giving. Since I discovered yoga I have been given a tool to help me cope and even improve my condition. I have lived with Hayfever all my life and so after m wheezing concerned my friend I was given an asthma diagnosis. Impossible - I do YOGA! but apparently completely possible and yoga is the reason I had been able to cope to now.

Avatar m tn I have been taking yoga-lates. it's yoga and pilates. This class is for almost all levels. I have been doing well on it. I am not able to do everything (about 85% completion and more the more I do it). It helps with flexibility and cardio, without totally straining your body. I used to be able to walk three miles in 45 min. now I can't walk a flight of stairs. Changing my diet to more fruits and veggies, and cutting down on fried foods help. Tumeric helps for the inflammation. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 17 years old and breathing is an absolute war for me. This has gone in for roughly 3 years. Whenever I try to breathe it feels as if I had just done nothing. Sure I get air into my lungs but I don't get that natural satisfying feeling. It always feels forced. It's absolutely horrifying, I have ruled out asthma since I was using an inhaler for a good while which yielded no results. I'm constantly taking deep breaths that seem to do nothing.
Avatar m tn Take up a hobbie if you find you have a lot of free time or involve yourself in a relaxation class like meditation or yoga. Yoga and meditation helps a great deal with breathing and teaches you how to control it and will help with Hyperventilating. Good-luck.

Currently I am on Homeopathic Treatment and am going for morning Brisk Walks & slight jog for 30 minutes since last 3 weeks.
1306047 tn?1333243591 Greetings. I'm 39 and developed symptoms at 31 of tightness in the chest and inability to get a full breath in my left lung (from lots and lots of smoke inhalation). Got confirmation this week via lung xray of mild COPD which confirms 2006 and 2007 spirometry diagnosis. I've been living with it for seven years already hoping it really wasn't COPD. Well it is. It's mild COPD and I swim all the time and do yoga as well.
Avatar n tn I do basic yoga asana (asana means that it is less cardio more posture and stretching) since the beginning of my pregnancy. I will be 35 weeks on Tuesday and it relieve my minor pains (hips, pelvic, lower back, buttocks and thighs). It also help to have a good posture and strengthen your core muscles for birth and baby position. It is great to take that time for you to relax. Sincerely, yoga is a revelation for me.
Avatar f tn I do some yoga. I tend not to do an entire program but I do use some poses and occasionally pop on my prenatal yoga CD for a bit. I enjoy cat/cow and tree pose and downward facing dog and child's pose a lot. Hip rolls and torso twists. Also do some modified planks now. I really fell off of my exercise regimen after getting pregnant but I do try to at least stretch every day, do a touch of yoga, and do some leg and arm lifts and curls with light weights.
Avatar f tn Omg it's a life saver. I've been doing yoga for years & it's so good for your body but most importantly your mental state. I'm only 9 weeks but plan to keep practicing throughout my pregnancy. Just tell the teacher you are pregnant if its not obvious & they will give you options if there is anything you should avoid. Stick with it you won't regret it.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 10 to 30 minutes twice a day.
