333672 tn?1273792789 I have not tried this, but apparently there are new online brain-training games at http://www.mymsmyway.com/ (middle of page under what's new) that were developed by "an alliance of Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, Microsoft, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society" (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/157707.php).
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a yoga teacher and 9 weeks pregnant with my first :) Anytime the doctor hears you're doing yoga they say yes, great, keep doing it! But they don't know about certain restrictions. Make sure you tell your instructor that you are in your first trimester. Not every teacher is trained in prenatal but yours may be.
Avatar m tn I'm a 50 year old yoga teacher and flight attendant and am due to have a Sacrocolpopoxy on 30th Dec. I had a vaginal hysterectomy at 37. I have come to terms with my operation but am really concerned about future yoga practice. At present I suffer no symptoms teaching and practising( probably due to constant attention to core and mindful movement) however do suffer symptoms when I fly and have been on my feet all day.
382218 tn?1341181487 t discuss Yoga as a weight training modality, especially the standing poses, and arm balances (Crow, Crane, Peacock, etc.) Yoga can be quite intense, depending on ability and poses attempted. I had a Yoga teacher who had been practicing some 30 years before she had her first bone density scan at age 55. Her MD told her she had the bones of a 20 year old!
Avatar f tn I've done yoga - I do yoga. Daily. It's been fabulous for spasticity and balance. I'm a full-time cane user now but was able to hold it off for years through a combo of balance PT and, IMO, yoga. My suggestions: 1. Try to find a yoga teacher who has worked with people with MS. I've met yoga teachers who didn't have that experience who thought MS issues were muscle issues. And, they might be but they're message issues first. 2.
Avatar m tn We have a healthy happy (very intelligent) 4 year old daughter. She is in private pre-k. On occasion she will talk about "pee pees" and her own privates. Rest assured that at home we don't talk about this. We have admonished her every time we have heard from her teachers that she has done this. She is obviously needing attention. We can give her more attention at home, but I personally spend a lot of time with her on the weekends.
Avatar f tn I'm a 32 year old female, work out at least 4 to 7 days a week, either weight training with my dad, or running at least 4 to 5 days a week, 2 to 6 miles a day since I'm training for another half. I've been trying everything as far as how I eat, and I can't seem to get rid of the belly fat and my butt and thighs seem big to me.
Avatar f tn Thanks! Do you all take regular yoga or prenatal ? I already joined a gym and they have yoga classes a few days a week but not prenatal yoga.
Avatar f tn Try yoga. It's one of the best forms of exercise there is to strengthen and tone muscles. There are tons of videos you can watch online to find the best type of yoga for you. There's everything from chair yoga to serious weight loss yoga.
Avatar f tn The water makes you weightless so it might not hurt your back, you could also do gentle yoga to perhaps help your back, but check with your doc or consult a yoga teacher who could help you find movement to get you more limber. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My son is 4.5 yrs old and just started school, but I am having trouble with his toilet training, sometimes he does it and sometimes he just 'wees' or poop's in his pants, he doesn't seem to care and just seems too busy to think for himself, what else should I do, his teachers are getting concerned?
Avatar f tn I'm a substitute teacher going to school for my bachelor's degree in education. In 8 years I see myself with a doctorate in education (god willing) with a specialty in teaching children with special needs.
Avatar f tn in the past year - ectopic with right tube removal, chemical and a blighted ovum. I took time out from TTC and took up hot yoga and went on to teacher training. During the last week of exams I found out I was around 5 weeks pregnant. I also started spotting and thought the worse. I was advised by docs to take it easy and the teacher running my course has suggested I dont do ANY yoga until 16 week! I have not do a single class- and trust me it is driving me insane.
Avatar f tn Has anyone gone to pregnant yoga if so would you recommend going? Or is there other classes to help prepair for delivery?
Avatar f tn You could try, also, adding in 30 minutes of yoga 3 day/week. You also need some strength training, which can be done with light hand weights and moves, such as squats and lunges. You could alternate yoga and the strength training and take a walk daily. There are many other forms of exercise that are also very good, such as swimming, biking, dancing, etc. You have to do what you enjoy and will be able to stick with and can include in your schedule.

404138 tn?1308941656 I am first grade teacher myself and I think it would be neat chat with other teachers and share ideas!! I also love hearing all the funny things that happen in the classroom!! If they don't start a thread for this, we can always start our own topic on the Medhelp Social Page. Just a thought!
Avatar n tn I wouldnt do hot yoga you can do regular yoga but its not good to raise your body temp so high. Youll be fine so will baby it was just one class and youre still super early. Just hydrate and relax.
Avatar n tn I'd contact NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), a group founded by the families of people with mental health issues. I don't like the name, but they do good work and can help make a good referral for a Psychatrist or Psychologist. Please consider the fact that your ex-wife may be overwhelmed and desparate, as many parents of bipolar children are. I take a lot of meds myself, and they work really well until they need to be adjusted, and then it's really hard.
Avatar n tn I'm 7 weeks pregnant and just took a hot yoga class not thinking of the severity of it. After leaving I looked online and read how bad this is especially during your first trimester. Should I still be upset or is 1 class not going to hurt me? I won't be going again until the baby is born!
Avatar f tn Girl, don't shy away! Do it! I'm IN college, Taking Physiology. My teacher told me to drop her class cus she's afraid I won't be able to finish her class. I'm having my baby in Nov. Class ends in December. I'm a ftm. Wish me luck! You can do it! !!
Avatar f tn My sister has a great job through MarketLinc. They sell stuff like internet security online. You only have to go in for training, and then can do the rest from home. But don't forget that walking a lot is good for you and the bun in the oven, as well as helping make delivering easier!
Avatar n tn When he goes on the toilet let him know how proud you are of him and give him a big hug. Accidents happen. Ask any preschool teacher and the teacher will say that accidents happen even with 4 and 5 years olds. No pressure. Be positive when he goes potty on the toilet.
Avatar n tn I am not joking-- maybe yoga? The person who is best qualified to help you would be an expert in sports medicine; I would suggest contacting a medical school sports medicine department, or even contacting the nearest professional or amateur sports team and asking them who they recommend and use for sports injuries. There might be some other suggestion-- but I doubt it.
Avatar f tn But now all I can think about is starting my family. My question is do any of u ladies participate in prenatal yoga and if so do u feel it is beneficial to u?
Avatar f tn You need a balance between duration, intensity and recovery that will get you the best results and prevent the effects of over training. Exercise, is what causes the calories to be burned to generate energy. Energy recruitment during exercise is more complex. Your body uses different fuels, known as substrates, for the different intensity and length of exercises.
