Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections vs bv

yeast-infection

Avatar f tn hello...dosomebody kknow...diferents between-yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis?
Avatar f tn Has anyone had multiple yeast/BV infections? I've had 3 so far and I think I'm having another! I'm going to ob tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some meds. It's frustrating. Anyone Else?!?! Please help.
Avatar f tn If so, This will be my 3rd yeast infection in about a month. First time it was a yeast infection and BV. Doctor believes the 2nd yeast infection came from the antibiotic for BV. I just feel like I'm getting the symptoms again and I really hope not. This can't be healthy for me or my baby. It's driving me crazy!!! Anybody else going through this? I'm 17 weeks ftm!
Avatar f tn they will prescribe you something safe for baby. Sometimes yeast infections can mimic bv, a common bacterial infection in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Monistat works like a charm for yeast infections! That's what my doctor told me I could take. Just over the counter. He recommended the 7-day treatment. Baby is protected by the bubble she's in, so the medication does not get to him/her. Perfectly safe! Unless as previously said, you have any other complications. I would talk to your doctor before you do anything. And like they said, anti biotics are needed for a bacterial infection. Good luck!
Avatar f tn what is the diff btwn and std and sti...arent they pretty much the same. like what things are considered an std or an sti? i heard bv & yeast infections r considered sti, but those are not always acquired from having sex. im just confused by what an std & sti r.
492921 tn?1321289896 So I have been having a burning sensation when BDing. I went to my OB last Tuesday and mentioned that I thought I might have BV I've had it a few times. I seem to never get yeast infections but the oposite over growth causing BV. He didn't even test me for it because he said that I can't treat it in the first 12 wks of pregnancy once I get past that I can then take the flagyl antibiotic.
Avatar n tn Are you sure it is a yeast infection not BV? I thought I had yeast infections for the longest time but it was actually BV.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind, even with those treatments if there is a definite and bad odor, as specialmom says, that's not the primary symptom of yeast infections. I mentioned yeast infections first because you said "cheesy." My second guess would have been bacterial vaginosis (BV), as she mentioned. It won't hurt to try an over-the-counter preparation for a yeast infection, but if the smell persists, she should definitely see a doctor and get a run of antibiotics.
6014380 tn?1378523315 Anything that went near my vagina would cause a yeast infection. I had bv at one point the yeast then bv them yeast it was bloody hell so I totally know what you are going through. It's so important if you are doing monistat to do it for the longest time possible like 7 days. Also if you can research dufflican I am telling you I don't even use the Canadian version of monistat anymore it's a waste. One over the counter dufflican pill clears it up real good.
Avatar f tn s usually bacterial vaginosis. BV is different from yeast infection in a few ways. BV has a strong smell associated with it, almost like fish. You'll get discharge that is more milky, whereas yeast infections will cause white, sort of clumpy discharge (they're literally small clumps of yeast). BV doesn't cause many other symptoms.
Avatar f tn I am now having problems with infections, yeast or BV and my doctor is trying to tell me that my yeast infections I’m getting every other month are a herpes outbreak. Keep in mind when I go in I test positive for yeast or BV, but I do not go in every time. I have never had any outbreak that I know of nor has my husband of 9 years. I am trying to use all my resources to understand what is going on.
Avatar f tn The odor means the infection has not cleared up and you may need a different antibiotic, either pills and/or cream. You may have a propensity to yeast infections and adding cranberry juice or cranberry pills and yogurt to your diet may also help but see the Dr. first to get this cleared up.
Avatar f tn The antibiotics they put you on for BV can cause yeast infections. I have had BV three times so far with this pregnancy. I up my yogurt intake dramatically when Im on the antibiotics and luckily haven't had a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn Its possible you need a different med and or its a yeast infection and the medication is making it worse. I had chronic BV infections and yeast and I remember this one year it was over and over again as if it didnt go away.
Avatar f tn d treat the BV and yeast at the sane tie and when you finish up the BV meds, start again with the yeast if it reappears. Treating yeast infections does not increase your odds of having BV.
Avatar m tn It is a swab done in the doctors office and it is sent out. The only way to 100% confirm either. The yeast you can treat over the counter but the BV you cant.
Avatar f tn Then because antibiotics mess up the PH of the vagina, yeast infections or BV can start. This irritates the vagina, blood can mix with discharge. You get more antibiotics for the BV *yeast is not treated with antibiotics) and then more yeast. It's a pain. Do not think cancer. That would be highly unlikely. Your grandmother was much older than you and you are so young, you are not in a worrisome category.
Avatar n tn Doctors: Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Late March I had unprotected sex with a male that claimed he had been tested the year before for stds and had no partners. Few days after that encounter started to have itching, burning and vag soreness. Went to the doctor, had a full std panel done. All negative. Gave me some yeast medication to try that didn't really work but symptoms went away after a month. Few weeks ago symptoms returned.
Avatar n tn BV like a lot of things will respond to antibiotics but ALSO will go away all on its own. It could be that same BV or it could be a new crop of bacterial. Precancerous cells on the cervix are common and I'd expect that if anything at all. They burn them off. Try not to worry. That is pretty treatable. BV is pretty resilient and can take a couple rounds of medication. Especially if you have to go to a line 2 agent that maybe doesn't work as well as the line 1 agent, flagyl.
Avatar f tn Have you been officially diagnosed with yeast and BV, though testing? I ask for a couple of reasons - BV and yeast can be mistaken for each other easily, and treating yourself can make things worse if you are treating for the wrong thing, and because some people say their herpes symptoms feel like yeast infections, with itching. Were you testing for herpes as part of routine testing or because you had these symptoms happening?
