m in my first trimester and pregnancy is already making me experience the wonderful world of yeast infections. I went to the doctor to make sure it is indeed a yeast infection and it is. He didn't prescribe me anything because he said it's too early and to wait until the second trimester, but I've heard of natural remedies, such as the garlic clove in the vagina that cures yeast infections. Has anyone tried this during pregnancy? Is it safe?

Hi! Usually when my patients give a similar description of symptoms, it turns out to be yeast, so Diflucan is a good medication to start with. If symptoms persist, I will often do a wet mount (look at the discharge under the microscope) a pH test (helps to distinguish yeast from bacterial infections (home tests can be purchased at your local drug store)
and sometimes a culture. I would usually rule out gonorrhea and chlamydia just as a routine part of my protocol too.
Hello- this seems to be a neverending topic but I am desparate. I have always had sensitivity in my vaginal area. I was prescribed PREMARIN Vaginal Cream for low estrogen. I am 27 also. So, after always having burning/iching/redness/swollenness et al a doctor suggested I had a low estrogen problem. I am also prone to yeast infections, so it's hard to differentiate symptoms of these two issues. I still have these symptoms and I am not sure how to get RELIEF.
I just had a yeast infection a couple of weeks ago. My doctor says that if you have those symptoms you can treat it at home. I would go to CVS and just use the monastat. They also have yeast infection tests.
I read that home remedies for a yeast infection are unsweetened yogurt, garlic and lots of water. I have been applying yogurt to the area once or twice a day and i tried a garlic paste but it stung super bad. I also took a hot bath with apple cider vinegar in the water last night. t have anything else and prescribed me the pill that gets rid of yeast infections that one can take instead of the over the counter product. The results came back negative and it has been about five days since I took the pill and I still have it! It is white around my vagina but there is no itching but it still looks all dehydrated and shriveled up like if I did have one. ...or is that just normal??? These forms of dairy make it very hard to clear infections. Cranberry is pretty good for yeast and other microbial infections--especially urogenital infections. The unsweetened forms are more effective. If you're still having significant symptoms of infection, and these simple home remedies are not enough, see your doctor for antibiotics or antifungals. They could really help ED if it's caused by infection.
