1241045 tn?1268250883 What kind of diet did you put her on? I would suggest trying a grain-free diet. Most dog foods that you can buy at a grocery store will not be grain-free, unfortunately. You can usually find quite a few choices at your local pet store though. The key is examining the ingredients and avoiding things like: wheat, cereal by-products, corn, etc. You want meat to be the first ingredients (and not meat by-products).
1100598 tn?1413127426 You need to add a good probiotic to her meals....If your feeding a high quality food, it's possible that the kibble is already coated with a probiotic.....However, it is not enough for therapeutic use.... There are many good quality probiotics on the market for humans & dogs......I have found that "Pearls"is easy to find and easy to give....You can buy them at Wal-Mart, Wal-Greens, etc.....It comes in tiny pill form.....Your dog will need one per day for at least 60 days....
Avatar f tn Maybe a week, maybe a month. It really depends on how good of a job you do when removing the infection, and how bad the infection is. If the ears start bleeding in spots, don't be suprised. It happens. Just hold a cold wet paper towel on it for a few minutes to relieve the burn of it. Or, see your vet. More then likely, its ear mites. If it is, clean the ears good with peroxide, then put in the tresederm. Like I said, check out 1800 pet meds.
Avatar n tn My dog has sore and scabs and dandruff flaking and has a weird smell. My vet says it's from fleas, but I think there is more going on??
Avatar f tn There are different types of yeast/fungals, some will present with a lot of itching, redness, inflammation, just like us w/yeast infections, but no waxy stuff and others are this dark waxy stuff but not much itching. it's basically the same brownish yucky/stinky stuff they get in their ears. With my basset, he hasn't needed the fluconazole or other RX meds as he doesn't have the other severe allergies that my beagle does.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for a female dog to get a yeast infection? She has been licking herself more than usual and I noticed she left a brownish discharge after sitting on a blanket. She doesn't whine or seem uncomfortable and is just as active as usual. Is there a homeopathic remedy that I can give her? BTW, she is spayed.
Avatar f tn Now, lets talk about why your dog is getting these repeated infections. There is a reason. Your dog has a weakened immune system. It starts out with ear infections, then itchy skin, hot spots, dragging his bottom, runny eyes or eye infections. The vet will tell you he has allergies. These are all signs of a weakened immune system. If this continues on then the immune system becomes so weak the dog developes cancer.
713383 tn?1232483914 His ears smell terrible, which leads me to believe he is getting chronic yeast infections in his ears. What causes this and is there some alternative, perhaps herbal supplement I can give him since traditional medicine seems to be failing? This has been going on for years now and they just keep coming back. I am wondering if they are ever really going away. I feel terrible for him and am desperate to help him. It is costing me a fortune and hasn't provided him with any relief.
5629636 tn?1371253040 Dogs with floppy ears tend to have issues with ear infections than dogs with erect ears. Cleaning on a daily basis (I know it is a PITA) can help. Have you tried adding brewer's yeast and yoghurt to the diet?
Avatar m tn t possible to say what would work until the problem is understood. For example, if the dog also has a smell it may be a skin dermatitis or yeast infections. Some breeds seem to be more prone to yeast. If that's the case a medicated treatment that disrupts the yeast infection has to be used. It is possible to get over-the-counter medicated dog shampoo with 1% (I think that's the small level) ketoconazole which can help stop yeast.
Avatar f tn I was having servere pain in my middle back in the right side so at 1 am on the 5th I went to the er at that point was 22 weeks and 4 days they admitted me into labor and delivery where they found out the pain was due to a kidney infection they kept me on an IV with antibiotics until I was discharged this morning they sent me home with more antibiotics to take to finish fighting the infection but since I got home this morning my vagina has been kinda itchy when I itch it it hurts could that be a
Avatar n tn Although increased moisture in the ears can predispose a dog to ear infections, the likely primary cause is seasonal allergies, which are also a common cause of seasonal hotspots, itching and skin infections. A hotspot is a localized bacterial skin infection, secondary to allergies/self trauma.
Avatar f tn Monistat works like a charm for yeast infections! That's what my doctor told me I could take. Just over the counter. He recommended the 7-day treatment. Baby is protected by the bubble she's in, so the medication does not get to him/her. Perfectly safe! Unless as previously said, you have any other complications. I would talk to your doctor before you do anything. And like they said, anti biotics are needed for a bacterial infection. Good luck!
Avatar n tn You may also want to have the dog checked for a yeast infection and have thyroid checked. Regular Brushing is often better than frequent bathing. A friend of my daughter had a Basset Hound that always smelled no matter how often they bathed him or with what. He did end up having a thyroid problem. Just a thought.
Avatar f tn my lil dog he chews the tops of his feet it makes his breath smell horriable and his feet smell very bad i have been using a fungus shampoo on him and its not working they gave him doxicyclean
Avatar f tn I also was put on a daily antibiotic which you will prob be asked to do as well. I was on a very low 50 dose but it ask made me sick and gave my husband a yeast infection. I stopped taking it and now I have another one. I'm 38 weeks and praying I don't get a yeast infection again. I don't take baths anymore. Only use summers eve soap. Practically shower after sex.
5769293 tn?1373926011 ) He has discovered that his dog is allergic to yeast. He was feeding the dog a good food which contained yeast (for vitamins) When he stopped that food and changed it to totally yeast-free, the problems subsided. That would also apply to any sugars. I think the best thing might be to research a food for him which is completely natural. That will be quite a task, but worth doing. Even if it costs more. Think of what you will save in vet's bills and ointments/medications etc.
746512 tn?1388807580 I am dog sitting for a couple of weeks right now and the dog is miserable. He has some sort of unknown allergies but is on a low grade food (beneful) and horrible smelling skin. He is beet red in his ears, armpits and abdomen. The skin is also hyperpigmented in spots, flaky and has similar texture to elephant skin (wrinkled and swollen). He also has a sweet horrible odour (especially earss) so I'm assuming a yeast infection.
237053 tn?1258828426 I've been dealing with a big yeast infection and my tongue gets that way sometimes too. I think Wonko once mentioned something I've also seen written elsewhere too, which is to swish around but DO NOT SWALLOW water with hydrogen peroxide in it. I forget the proportions. You can google it. *I think I've read that hydrogen peroxide is poisonous if you swallow it.* But it blasts the little yeast bugs to bits, so I've read. (I stick to Listerine cause I'm a chicken.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor ten days ago with horrible nausea & after confirming the pregnancy (9 weeks now) I was put on a dissolving tablet so I could eat & drink again, yay, but he also said I had an infection probably a uti from being so dehydrated, so I was also prescribed an antibiotic. Today was the last day of it & it burns more now when I pee then it did before!
1168718 tn?1464983535 I usually get a yeast infection after a round of antibiotics because antibiotics tend to kill good bacteria as well as bad. That can be one culprit. Other culprits can be hormones, diabetes, the use of prednisone, the over use of douches..just to name a few. Excessive dryness down in the nether regions can cause problems as well. I'm guessing by your use of Premarin Cream is because your trying to prevent vaginal dryness due to estrogen loss.
Avatar f tn Seven months ago my boyfriend and I began having sex, and about two weeks later I started my period but noticed that I was having major pain and itching internally and externally towards the end of my period. I went to the OB/GYN and I did have a yeast infection for the first time ever. I wasn't on any birth control, nor taking any antibiotics, not pregnant, and the pap came back normal with no diseases.
Avatar f tn Is it normal for a girl to have 2 yeast infections?. one right after another?. because i took a pill and it went away but a month later i have it again. could this be serious? could it be because im taking birth controll?
