Avatar m tn On April 14th I had unprotected intercourse with another woman. The days passed and I did not think much of this encounter until a couple of weeks after the event a rash appeared on my penis. I went to a GP on May 14th and took a blood test. The doctor thought it was herpes. A couple of days after my blood test I developed a sore throat, then a runny nose, then a slight fever with fatigue. I diagnosed this as a cold and did not think much of it.

Avatar f tn Repeat infections that occur immediately following treatment, or a persistent yeast infection that does not respond to treatment, may be the first or, at least, an early sign that an individual is infected with HIV. this is wht is written on dis site...im so paranoid.please help!
Avatar n tn did you tell your dentist of your lack of hygiene? diabetics tend to have more yeast infections so you might want to check that out too. good luck and this time follow your dentists instructions!
Avatar f tn s ability to mislead. While yeast infections can be a sign of HIV infection who have HIV, unless there are other reasons for concern, there is no reason for you to worry that you might have HIV because of a yeast infection.
Avatar m tn The main thing is to first be certain that yeast in fact explains your current symptoms. It is possible but uncommon for yeast infections not to respond to the treatments you have had, and other things can cause similar symptoms. For example, if your main symptom is burning or itching, you might have idiopathic vulvodynia.
Avatar m tn I get yeast infections all the time but she might want to check for trich as well. Not to put you down for possibly giving it to her, men can have it and never know. If she has it you need to get treated as well (even if it doesn't show up in your test there are many false negatives for men). I have it, took months to find because it was never under the microscope and I thought I was OK because I always use protection and have only been with two men in my whole life.
Avatar n tn It would have been astounding if your HIV test had been positive. Almost nobody gets HIV from a one-off exposure. The vast majority of sexual transmissions occur in people who are frequently and repeatedly exposed; and the odds your partner had HIV are zero or close to it. (HIV is a lot less common among US heterosexuals than a lot of people seem to understand.) In any case, your negative HIV test was to be expected and has no bearing on the risk of herpes.
Avatar m tn Now, on to the yeast infection. While persons with advanced HIV do have increased numbers and severity of yeast infections, yeast infections are also VERY, VERY common skin infection. In your case, no only do I doubt that you have HIV at all but I am confident that you do not have advanced HIV. The vast majority of persons with yeast do not have HIV. In addition, it turns out that there are some yeast infections that do not respond to topical therapy for yeast.
Avatar m tn You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV. Yeast infections are not HIV specific. Anyone can get a yeast infection at anytime.
Avatar f tn And although some kinds of yeast infections are more common in persons with HIV, vaginal yeast infections are not among them. On the other hand, diabetes is a common factor in persistent vaginal yeast; and certain antibiotics can also do it. But HIV does so rarely. Most important, HIV test results always overrule everything else. Your test results -- especially the combination of negative RNA at 2 weeks and antibody tests at 6 and 12 weeks -- prove you don't have HIV.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had multiple yeast/BV infections? I've had 3 so far and I think I'm having another! I'm going to ob tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some meds. It's frustrating. Anyone Else?!?! Please help.
Avatar f tn I was having servere pain in my middle back in the right side so at 1 am on the 5th I went to the er at that point was 22 weeks and 4 days they admitted me into labor and delivery where they found out the pain was due to a kidney infection they kept me on an IV with antibiotics until I was discharged this morning they sent me home with more antibiotics to take to finish fighting the infection but since I got home this morning my vagina has been kinda itchy when I itch it it hurts could that be a
Avatar f tn Monistat works like a charm for yeast infections! That's what my doctor told me I could take. Just over the counter. He recommended the 7-day treatment. Baby is protected by the bubble she's in, so the medication does not get to him/her. Perfectly safe! Unless as previously said, you have any other complications. I would talk to your doctor before you do anything. And like they said, anti biotics are needed for a bacterial infection. Good luck!
Avatar f tn but havent I read that yeast infections are a sign that you have HIV?
Avatar f tn I'm 36 weeks pregnant. I gotten alot of yeast infections during my pregnancy. probably around 4 , Ive just got treated for one but I believe I got another again.
Avatar m tn As I said before, you can be confident that you do not have HIV. That you ahve recurrent yeast infections is not due to this. You do not need further testing, really.
Avatar f tn Chronic yest infections are not HIV specific.
Avatar f tn hello...dosomebody kknow...diferents between-yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis?
Avatar m tn Yeast infections are equally common in people with and without HIV. When severe yeast infections occur in people with HIV, it's a manifestation of late infection (overt AIDS) and is never the only problem such persons have. You seem to be having trouble accepting that there is no chance you or your GF have HIV. Stop asking about it; there is no additional information you can provide or ask about that would possibly change my opinion or advice.
Avatar m tn have been infected for years) HIV can be troubled with frequently recurring, sever yeast infections, normal people regularly get yeast infections. Only a tiny fraction of persons with recurring yeast infections do so because of HIV. 4. I am confident your HIV test results will be negative. I hope that when you get the result they will provide you with peace of mind.
