Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections and your period

yeast-infection

Avatar f tn Seven months ago my boyfriend and I began having sex, and about two weeks later I started my period but noticed that I was having major pain and itching internally and externally towards the end of my period. I went to the OB/GYN and I did have a yeast infection for the first time ever. I wasn't on any birth control, nor taking any antibiotics, not pregnant, and the pap came back normal with no diseases.
Avatar f tn s not harmful at all. As for the yeast infections, some antibiotics taken over a period of time can cause yeast infections. My mother suffers with these often and she has started taking a probiotic. It evens out the good and bad bacteria in your vagina. Also, if you douche, stop. This rids your downstairs of ALL bacteria, good and bad. And you need the good. I've never heard of anyone being allergic to semen, but I guess thats always a possibility.
Avatar n tn The less yeast he has the less yeast you will have. Also, I find that during the week before my period starts I am much more prone to yeast infections and of course if I eat a lot of sugar or drink several glasses (sometimes just 1) of wine. It takes a lot of monitoring! Good luck!
Avatar f tn Ive also read online on a comment about some violet dye or pill you can take that lays in your cervix and kills the yeast on contact ask your doctor about it cause I am going to!
Avatar n tn it makes it worse, because something about holding the infection in instead of letting it out. my doctor told me taht sometimes getting your period is good for yeast infections because it helps clear out all the bad jerms or something, sorry not much help here but that is all i know.
6014380 tn?1378523315 What exactly can you do if you have been seen and been treated for yeast infections and no antibiotics oral or suppository has worked to get rid of it? I have had this issues close to two years and doctors seem to be blowing me off about it when I know there has to be a underlining cause for this please help this is literally killing me.
1138188 tn?1312341243 I am 23 weeks pregnant and seem to be getting recurring yeast infections! I have used the OTC medications and honestly have never really been comfortable with it! I am wondering if there is any other at home treatment i can try thet will be safe for my baby and I?
Avatar m tn Hi there and welcome. Well all can be related that you mention. Your hormones can be out of whack and hence, leading to ph problems within and the discharge problems you've noticed but these hormones could also throw off your period. Things like vaginal infections, yeast infections can also throw off a period. Stress can be linked as well. I'm sure you've taken a pregnancy test, right? that would be the thing to do at this point if you haven't.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had multiple yeast/BV infections? I've had 3 so far and I think I'm having another! I'm going to ob tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some meds. It's frustrating. Anyone Else?!?! Please help.
Avatar f tn I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.
Avatar f tn Most likely a yeast infection, those IV antibiotics are pretty heavy duty. Eat lots of yogurt and call your doc, usually they will just call something in for you.
Avatar f tn There is even something they call estrogen dominance and it is absolutely associated with frequent yeast infections. They may try to stabilize your hormones or get them in a little better balance.
Avatar f tn Your vagina should have a smell though, and you should become familiar with the normal smell so that you can tell in the future if it changes. Bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections can arise spontaneously, without sexual activity being involved. Did you check for a tampon? I know it's gross, but if that's your problem it should be an easy fix. You can put gloves on if you're really grossed out by the idea.
Avatar f tn Or I think for some its common to get yeast infections around the time of your period too. Also birth control can do that to you too. Have you talked to your doctor about it?
Avatar f tn But over the years and since i became sexually active I have had more and more yeast infections. Now it is becoming unbearable. I have had 5 yeast infections within the past 5 months. They come after any kind of sexual activity or my period. But i've noticed now that my clitoris has been swelling. I have burning and itch like crazy. It is almost impossible for me to not itch. I have used monistat every time and is not helping as much as it used to.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Being a virgin doesn't change anything with yeast infections. Newborn babies can get yeast infections. The way a doctor checks for yeast is to take a swab of the discharge. It's easy to do and not very invasive. Then you'll be given either a pill to take for it or told to do the over the counter meds to treat it.
Avatar f tn I would seek help from your gyn. It's not normal ( IMP ) to get yeast infections everytime you have sex with him. That too me would mean that he is dirty down there. The only time when I get yeast infections and UTI, is from antiboitics or when me and my boyfriend have sex and I go striaght to bed afterwards and sperm stays inside of me.
Avatar f tn Repeat infections that occur immediately following treatment, or a persistent yeast infection that does not respond to treatment, may be the first or, at least, an early sign that an individual is infected with HIV. this is wht is written on dis site...im so paranoid.please help!
8004667 tn?1408302108 Monistat 7 (: I've been taking it for 2 days and my symptoms are gone I'm just gonna end up taking it for the entire 7 days just to be safe
Avatar f tn I would also talk to your Dr. I am lucky enough to never have had a yeast infection, but I hear they are very unpleasant. I hope your all better soon.
Avatar f tn Douching upsets the natural balance of bacteria and yeast in your vagina and will cause infections. 2. Avoid bread and sugary foods as much as possible. If there is yeast in your vagina it is in the rest of your body too and sugar will just feed it. 3. Use condoms if you have sex. You CAN give a yeast infection to a guy (they usually get no symptoms) and then he will just keep passing it back to you. 4. Eat yogurt with live cultures in it - sugar free is best, but any kind helps. 5.
Avatar n tn try using the vaginal 7 night cream or calling your gyno dr. and ask them to perscribe you a diflucane. a pill taken once or twice and your symptoms should deminish within a day or two.. if it is due to taking antibiotics, try eating plain yogurt while taking the antibiotics...this will prevent a yeast infection from even begining.
Avatar f tn The odor means the infection has not cleared up and you may need a different antibiotic, either pills and/or cream. You may have a propensity to yeast infections and adding cranberry juice or cranberry pills and yogurt to your diet may also help but see the Dr. first to get this cleared up.
Avatar f tn Im 6 months pregnant and I have never had this many yeast infections in my life. I only bathe with dial soap and the doctor said I shouldnt take baths, nothing but showers. Can anybody help me with some remedies or something to help with the yeast infections ??
Avatar f tn Hello, Various reasons for recurrent or persistent fungal infection are incomplete treatment, treatment resistance), co-existing dermatitis, diabetes and low immunity. You and your boyfriend should get a repeat examination and oral antifungals prescribed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
1853129 tn?1319530083 Hi there Are you in a relationship?? If you are then your boyfriend may also have the infection and is reinfecting you each time . He needs to have cream to clear it up too! If you are not sexually active then I can only assume you are overwashing yourself down there. Do not soak in the bath for long periods of time with bubble bath and don't douch inside your vagina and don't use tampons at all. Wear cotton knickers and use sanitary towels.
1168718 tn?1464983535 with ms, but I have had the same exact question. I was wondering if I had continuous yeast infections and if it had something to do ms. I had recently gone for my annual Pap and all tests were clear for infection..... so what has been causing the "itch". My doc. said that in the beginning (5 months ago) it could have been yeast and I treated it, but to me it kept coming back, or so I thought, she said I must have treated it with the OTC inserts and it went away. But to this day...
