Yeast infections and lubricants

Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections and lubricants

yeast-infection

Avatar n tn Hi, I thought it was yeast and self-treated as I've gotten them before. I'm pretty sure its yeast but since posting this I did experience another OB. Initially it started off as a yeast infection and the meds for it stopped the itching and treat it but I realised that the itching persisted and it felt more like how I felt when I had my primary OB. I was still taking the acicyclovir since my first OB around June 8 I've just increased the intake during this OB. I'm treating the Y.
Avatar f tn ve been examined, or have had swabs and had yeast ruled out. If it is yeast, it may be easily treated with an anti-fungal. But some women get recurrent infections that leave when treated and come back, or never fully resolve- sometimes they have yeast that is resistant to the typically used anti-yeast treatments.
Avatar f tn t use any of the flavored kinds and then have intercourse as that is just to make oral a little more...pleasant and can cause yeast infections if used for anything else. Water-based is supposed to be your best bet if you are prone to yeast infections, though there are other types of lubricants. If you have questions, someone at Spencer's or an adult store would be your best bet to find out what would work best for you.
Avatar m tn Some types of condoms (latex) may cause allergic reactions. Some lubricants contain sugar, which can promote yeast infections.
1168718 tn?1464983535 with ms, but I have had the same exact question. I was wondering if I had continuous yeast infections and if it had something to do ms. I had recently gone for my annual Pap and all tests were clear for infection..... so what has been causing the "itch". My doc. said that in the beginning (5 months ago) it could have been yeast and I treated it, but to me it kept coming back, or so I thought, she said I must have treated it with the OTC inserts and it went away. But to this day...
1569575 tn?1314424059 However, it seems like sex encourages yeast infections or something. Both the first time and this time, I started to feel itchy and puffy in the genital area less than 24 hours after sex. I thought the first one was caused by condoms, but we haven't used condoms recently, so I guess that probably didn't have anything to do with it. Any thoughts on sex possibly being a contributor to yeast infections? I welcome all non-doctor related advice. Thank you!
338963 tn?1253660822 My best opinion is LOTS and LOTS of lubricants, my fav is by KY and it is in a spray bottle, it lasts along time and makes bd'ing a lot easier. Also make sure DH goes slow that way he doesnt hurt you while entering. Another thing that has helped dh and I is to have intercourse (tmi) and insert IT when it isn't fully erect. Good luck and hang in there, your def. not alone.
Avatar f tn Swelling and painful itching can be a sign of a yeast infection. Frequent urination with pain could be a bladder infection. The rash later that day could have been an allergic reaction caused by lubricants (even water based can give people an allergic reaction) or condoms (although it doesn't sound like you used one?). There are even odd cases of women being allergic to a man's sperm. If your partner has a sexual history or any known STDs or STD symptoms you should probably get checked.
Avatar f tn ve always had sensitive skin and all of that, I also constantly get yeast infections and UTIs. Because of this, my partner and I make sure we use water-based lubricants. Right now we use KY Yours and Mine. However, it doesn't seem to do the trick. I know oil can tend to irritate the vagina, but water based lubes are just not good enough and I always have pain when we use them.
Avatar f tn Athlete’s Foot, nails (onychomycosis), mouth (thrush), digestive tract, esophagus, vagina (vulvovaginal candidiasis) and other parts of the body. Yeast infections occur most frequently in moist areas of the body. Although Candida albicans are the most frequent offenders, other types of yeasts (fungi) are known to cause infections.
Avatar f tn I heard yeast infection are common during pregnancy!!
Avatar f tn Petroleum jelly is the absolute worst thing to use as a sexual lubricant. Its really hard to was off well because its oil based & it can seal in the bacteria and yeast and cause more infections or make them worse. They can even cause UTIs and bladder/kidney infection because the bacteria can get pushed into your urethra & because the petroleum doesn't get flushed out when you pee, it can travel up into your upper urinary tract.
Avatar f tn t help but panic at what I would usually consider usual for me in terms of yeast and have read that HSV can be atypical and not always blisters. Urine does not burn and actually provides relief. I'm usually very careful and so this is causing me some stress. Also, do you think I have any need to test for syphilis, hepatitis, or HIV? My partner in question is a heterosexual male in his late twenties or early thirties. I believe I have had the series of hepatitis vaccines.
Avatar f tn Hi, you may have already checked into this, but I remember something similar when I had recurrent yeast infections, which were caused by the treatments for my recurrent bladder (UTI) infections. Miserable feeling!!! I know now that antibiotics do that to me, so when I have to take them, I also get an Rx for Diflucan, an oral medication for the yeast infection (creams are just yucky, and even after repeated uses, wouldn't clear it up for me).
Avatar n tn Seems unlikely., Yeast infections are typically present and obvous most of the time and while they can make skin quite sensitive and even fragile, they should be apparent at other times as well, not just after intercourse or masturbation.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had multiple yeast/BV infections? I've had 3 so far and I think I'm having another! I'm going to ob tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some meds. It's frustrating. Anyone Else?!?! Please help.
Avatar f tn I was having servere pain in my middle back in the right side so at 1 am on the 5th I went to the er at that point was 22 weeks and 4 days they admitted me into labor and delivery where they found out the pain was due to a kidney infection they kept me on an IV with antibiotics until I was discharged this morning they sent me home with more antibiotics to take to finish fighting the infection but since I got home this morning my vagina has been kinda itchy when I itch it it hurts could that be a
Avatar f tn I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.
Avatar f tn Some factors that may increase susceptibility to yeast infections Increased stress Use of oral contraceptives Diabetes Pregnancy Use of antibiotics (protective bacteria are destroyed by antibiotics, allowing yeast overgrowth) Signs and symptoms Increased amount of discharge White, clumpy (cottage cheese-like), discharge Redness, itching, burning in vaginal/vulvar area Treatment Since yeast is normally present in the vagina, it is unrealistic to try to eliminate all yeast.
Avatar f tn Indulge in plenty of foreplay or use water based lubricants like KY jelly before and during intercourse. Apply warm compresses and wear cotton clothes. If the symptoms persist then get it checked out from a gynecologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I was on a very low 50 dose but it ask made me sick and gave my husband a yeast infection. I stopped taking it and now I have another one. I'm 38 weeks and praying I don't get a yeast infection again. I don't take baths anymore. Only use summers eve soap. Practically shower after sex.
Avatar f tn hello...dosomebody kknow...diferents between-yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis?
Avatar f tn I used to get yeast infections every time I had intercourse. The only way I was able to stop this from happening was by douching with a vinegar and water rinse right after having sex. It was a major inconvenience but it definitely stopped the ongoing yeast infections. And on those occasions when I was too "lazy" or "relaxed" to get up and douche, the infection would return without fail. A vinegar douche really does help, but it is a major "mood disrupter.
Avatar f tn i read that this kind of sex causes infections and there is a probability of getting pregnant. my partner doesn't like condoms and doesn't prefer lubricants. i believe the absence of such items might cause problems, i mean health problems. how can i decrease the risks and how to make it unpainful as much as possible? are there any tips regarding eating certain food before anal sex?
Avatar f tn You cant have vaginal sex and then go right to anal sex or vice versa. Its not healthy and it brings bacteria. The yeast infection you probably had, but had sex with your husband anyways before getting treated and then you keep passing to each other. That happened with me and BF. But...if you have no signs of a yeast infection, then your husband is the one that needs to go to the doctor to get medicine to clear it up.
