Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections and iud

yeast-infection

Avatar m tn i have been given Gynazole (sp), miconazole, metronidazole, flagyl, fluconazole, and have also tried tioconazole, to no avail. So I stopped going to doctors for it. But now I want to get an IUD, and I am wondering if the IUD can be inserted during the presence of a yeast infection? I know certain infections are contraindications, but are yeast infections? I don't think they can spread to the cervix/uterus.
Avatar f tn i've had a cooper iud for 10 1/2 yrs, the dr. said it can now stay in for 12, have 2 great kids, happily married, but the last1-2 years i've had bv, yeast infections, and a gross smell down there a few days after my period. i have to have my period in order to take out the iud so i'm toying with the thought of having it removed and either having a new one inserted or having a different method all together.
Avatar f tn The only connection I could see is if you have sex without a condom, you could end up with more infections, and if taking the pill means you have sex more often you could end up with yeast infections, which sometimes are caused by sexual intercourse. But I don't know of any mechanism by which the pill by itself would cause bacterial or yeast infections.
Avatar f tn I am also very prone to BV , and Yeast infections since i have had the IUD put in , is this normal as well ? Also when i get the IUD out will i have trouble having a baby ? I get nervous thinking about it and about how many people have trouble conceiving because of birth controls .
Avatar f tn Your doctor can check to make sure that you do not have an STD, he or she can make sure that the smell is not related to your IUD and also they can check you for other vaginal infections. Get checked out ASAP. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I have only had two pregnancy related yeast infections my entire life.
2127574 tn?1335359217 ve used multiple types of BC pills but they always seem to give me recurrent yeast infections. I stop the pill and the yeast infections stop. When I restart the pills they occur over and over again. So that is why I'm looking in to a non-hormonal contraceptive (and not Mirena). I am very nervous though with my periods already being moderate and having cramping; I'm afraid that the cramping and flow will become almost unbearable.
Avatar m tn As well as irregular bleeding, I have experienced an irritated vagina during this last period as well and thought perhaps it may have been a mild yeast infection (I am sensitive to yeast affections and get them about once every 4-5 months and they're always quite mild). However, the symptoms to what I thought may have been a yeast infection appear to have gone away except that during the times my partner and I engage in sex it I become irritated again like my skin is raw and sensitive.
6014380 tn?1378523315 What exactly can you do if you have been seen and been treated for yeast infections and no antibiotics oral or suppository has worked to get rid of it? I have had this issues close to two years and doctors seem to be blowing me off about it when I know there has to be a underlining cause for this please help this is literally killing me.
Avatar m tn The various causes for vaginal bleeding after sex are STDs like Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis, cervical polyps, yeast infections, non specific vaginitis, endometriosis, cervical dysplasia which is a precancerous condition, uterine polyps, uterine fibroids and cervicitis. None of them are conditions that should be ignored.
Avatar f tn Condoms give me yeast infections and urinary tract infections due to the lunricatant and latex.
Avatar f tn At first, all was fine with the Mirena and then about 6 months down the line, I started having bad migraines, feeling very depressed, extremely fatigued all the time, decreased to non-existent sex drive (libido), dull abdominal pain (lower stomach), infections (such as recurring yeast and urinary tract infections), back pain, breast pain/tenderness, recurring upper respiratory infections (such as the common cold and bronchitis), on and off nausea, painful menstrual periods, weight gain of ov
Avatar f tn m a very clean person please help I also have the mirena IUD replaced in march 2011 the first one was put in in 2006 I did noticed often yeast infections but this feel similar but at the same time a little different no discharge :( please help
Avatar f tn Looked me in the eye and said you do not have a yeast infection. They also said they couldn’t find my IUD strings and sent me to the hospital for a trans vaginal ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that my IUD was where it was supposed to be. Finally went to my gynecologist back home and she said it was definitely a yeast infection that was severe. The severity came from not treating it properly and the Flagyl.
Avatar f tn What should I expect after having the device removed? Any advice on e. coli infections, or other vaginal infections with IUD´s? I would greatly appreciate any related advice! I just want this infection to go away! I have been suffering with this for about three months... Please help!

Avatar f tn Has anyone had multiple yeast/BV infections? I've had 3 so far and I think I'm having another! I'm going to ob tomorrow and I'm sure I'll get some meds. It's frustrating. Anyone Else?!?! Please help.
Avatar f tn I was having servere pain in my middle back in the right side so at 1 am on the 5th I went to the er at that point was 22 weeks and 4 days they admitted me into labor and delivery where they found out the pain was due to a kidney infection they kept me on an IV with antibiotics until I was discharged this morning they sent me home with more antibiotics to take to finish fighting the infection but since I got home this morning my vagina has been kinda itchy when I itch it it hurts could that be a
1317277 tn?1288385456 also did they test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you were seen? vaginitis is very common with iud's. Also you could be having a reaction to the latex gloves worn during the iud insertion or even the cleanser they use before inserting it.
Avatar f tn I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.
548502 tn?1320552993 But I have been tested years ago and since then I have been married and had a baby the problems only popped up after this silly IUD. I wish i could get an appointment sooner. They are gonna call me about it tomorrow. Just pray for me. God can heal anything in you believe. I'll pray for ya'll too. Thanks, again. If ya'll think of anything else: advice or anything tips please post them.
Avatar f tn I was on a very low 50 dose but it ask made me sick and gave my husband a yeast infection. I stopped taking it and now I have another one. I'm 38 weeks and praying I don't get a yeast infection again. I don't take baths anymore. Only use summers eve soap. Practically shower after sex.
Avatar f tn ve been on the pill for more than 6 years.. then in July I got an IUD, but had it removed 3 months later (I had a lot of yeast infections during that time) because I thought it was the reason of my problems, mainly the hair loss (hormonal imbalance).. then I started the pill again (end of October). Since then, things got worse but my yeast infections stopped... in Novembre the extreme fatigue and dizziness started.. then I got blood tests and found out I have hypothyroidism...
Avatar f tn hello...dosomebody kknow...diferents between-yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis?
Avatar f tn I used to get yeast infections every time I had intercourse. The only way I was able to stop this from happening was by douching with a vinegar and water rinse right after having sex. It was a major inconvenience but it definitely stopped the ongoing yeast infections. And on those occasions when I was too "lazy" or "relaxed" to get up and douche, the infection would return without fail. A vinegar douche really does help, but it is a major "mood disrupter.
Avatar n tn I ask my doctor to remove it because of your same sympthoms. Itchy vaginal area and frequent yeast infections. They removed it about 3 months ago. And unfortunately I still have the itchiness. I buy different over the counter medicine but none has worked for me yet. Planning to go to my doctor again to see what could be.
