Yeast infections and garlic treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infections and garlic treatment

yeast-infection

Avatar f tn m in my first trimester and pregnancy is already making me experience the wonderful world of yeast infections. I went to the doctor to make sure it is indeed a yeast infection and it is. He didn't prescribe me anything because he said it's too early and to wait until the second trimester, but I've heard of natural remedies, such as the garlic clove in the vagina that cures yeast infections. Has anyone tried this during pregnancy? Is it safe?
Avatar f tn Some people and sources on the internet have told me the I can treat a yeast infection by putting a whole unbroken clove of garlic in my vagina over night. This is very weird to me. I rather just go to the doctor, but that could get expensive for women who are prone to yeast infections. I'm wondering if anyone has actually tried this garlic treatment and if it actually works or if it's just a (butter on a burn) kind of myth. Seen on www.midwiferytoday.
4274823 tn?1388529098 My dr tried every kind of yeast treatment on me but all it did was give be a bacterial infection because the yeast was all gone, so when I was treated for the bacterial infection I got a yeast infection again. Any way, I even tried the tea tree suppositories and all that did was irritate my vagina. It got so bad that the skin on my vagina was raw most of the time.
Avatar f tn Clindamycin (generic for Biaxin) can be a tough one. Some people have no problems with it, but some do, like me and apparently you. I got waterlogged (edema) with swelling all over, but esp in my legs. It may have been some other chemical was out of whack in my body, but the LLMD too me off the drug right away. I still don't know what caused my problems.
1472764 tn?1287588186 What about just eating a lot of garlic? I love it. I even have to stay away from sugar and yeast b/c I get infections so bad. Since I've been pregnant I've been eating a lot of both b/c its the only thing I can stand eating. I'm almost over the sick feeling stage so I can cut those two things out and hopefully have a good rest of the pregnancy. I'm sure the sugar and yeast led to the viral infection too.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else used garlic for yeast infections? I found it as a natural home remedy as well as yogurt and I have no doctor till Monday. Any advice for me?
Avatar n tn Also a garlic clove inside your vagina kills all yeast I tried it and it worked but I could taste it in my mouth?
Avatar f tn Repeat infections that occur immediately following treatment, or a persistent yeast infection that does not respond to treatment, may be the first or, at least, an early sign that an individual is infected with HIV. this is wht is written on dis site...im so paranoid.please help!
Avatar f tn read up on it and decide if its something you really want to try, I have also heard (and tried) sticking a clove of garlic in the vagina. garlic kills yeast. did it for about 3 nights at bedtime and sure enough cleared up the infection, but smelt like garlic. It worked though, but the infection wasn;t horrible...
999560 tn?1262998155 also, just a note that because antibiotics have been known to bring on and worsen yeast infections, i avoided this treatment, as it seems that the yeast infections in women seem to return worse thatn before after a short time. i hope this is of help to you all ....
Avatar f tn I know how your feeling. Please read my post CHRONIC YEAST/ENDO/IBS and read all the remedies my doctor and I have have tried. You need to get on a product called Probiotics. I use the brand Renew Life Ultimate Vaginal Flora supoort 50 cultures per capsule(thats the good bacteria put back into your body) also I take GARLIC tablets. (instead of crushing real--YUK!!) Also I use Yeast Arrest while on your period (its a Boric acid suppository) at night.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been suffering from yeast infections for 8 months now. HIV test just came back negative but CD4 came back low (309). What does this mean?
Avatar f tn I'm not medically trained, so this is just what I found worked for me. I think I mentioned cutting up raw garlic into slivers and stuffing it into empty gelatin capsules (the drugstore sells them) and taking them with food. That way the zinginess of the garlic was at a minimum til it was in my digestive tract. I also cooked with garlic, sauteeing it in olive oil and then adding other vegetables.
Avatar n tn so i'm almost 100% positive i have a yeast infection right now (actually... i think it started about 2 weeks ago). however i'm in china right now and i don't think they sell monistat here. i've only ever used monistat for yeast infections... and i really don't know what they have in china (i don't just wanna use any antifungal...

Avatar f tn My biggest issue is the painful sex, my boyfriend and I never had trouble before I got my yeast infection and now i feel like a virgin again, it is the worst. I am really running out of answers now. My Dr. is trying to get me to go on to a 6 month treatment of some pill and it just sounds awful and seems like it will be just another thing that won't work. Any answers or suggestions will be really appreciated.

Avatar m tn s back. Does this mean I have reoccurring yeast infections? Will it ever go away? I just want it to clear up for good, and I'm scared it's going to affect me later on in life.
Avatar f tn This can burn a little, but tea tree oil is one of the strongest antifungals out there and I find the burning quickly subsides and it burns much less in comparison to the burning itch of yeast infections. Hope these garlic tricks work out for you!
Avatar f tn 3 things that work excellent for yeast infections and are safe during pregnancy. Unrefined coconut oil, raw apple cider vinegar, and garlic. Seriously. I have used all of these. The garlic can be overwhelming smell wise during pregnancy so I wouldn't try it. The vjnegar u can dab it around the whole vagina or use a a douche. The coconut oil, freeze in a bullet shape and put up in you like a tampon at night. Wear a pad tho.
Avatar f tn I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.
Avatar f tn Your hormones are different and your immune system is weakened from pregnancy. I've had 2 thrush infections and treatment hasn't kept it away. Thrush is a oral yeast infection.
Avatar f tn avoid milk and sugary things while you have a yeast infection and alchol if you drink(beer has yeast in it and you are what you drink/eat) wear loose clothing and don't stay in wet or damp clothing/bathing suits for long periods of time wear cotton underwear or atleast underwear that have a cotton lining eat yogurt with active cultures (yoplay has good yogurt for that) don't use sented anything down there, no sented soaps, tampons, pads nothing don't use always pads (i was told b
