Sounds like ear mites. Very common, and easy enough to get rid of. If not mites, it could be a yeast infection. Is there a sour smell coming from the ear? Is it both ears or just one? Ear mites don't look like little bugs. They actually look like a ton of brown/black ear wax. Go to 1800 pet meds and look under ear medications. Look for tresaderm. This will treat the mites. If it does have a foul smell to it, there is medication available on that site as well.

My dog actually has had recurring yeast infections and then we finally did allergy skin testing. he's been on allergy shots for years now and hasn't had any yeast in his ears in many years. It was costly and took a long time to kick in but SO worth it. but before jumping into testing try a strict elimn. diet it could be a cheaper fix.

The other thing to know is that dogs anal glands do occasionally secrete fluid, which can get smelly, but if it is particularly pungent it could be a symptom of infection - this is something to talk to your vet about, taking note of whether he is always smelly, or just periodically.
when my dog does that its a infection from me bathingher, water causes ear infections, does it have a yeast smell if so needs meds to clear it up.

The most common kinds in dogs and cats are demodex and scabies. Scabies cause extreme itching and can be transmitted. Demodex mites are not contagious, usually. Both mites can be normal inhabitants of the skin in very low numbers. They don't cause problems unless they are in very high numbers. In high numbers these mites can set your dog up for secondary skin infections such as pyoderma (yeast or bacterial skin infections) and hair loss.

I've heard you can take monistat for a yeast infection. But I would talk to your doctor first. Treatment for a yeast is different than bacterial, and you should make sure you don't have any other complications before starting something.
By the way a dermatophyte is a type of fungus and as I mentioned causes skin, nail and hair infections like joch itch and athletes foot. One other thought is that if you are using an over the counter medication or even a prescription one yeast are becoming resistant to the ones that end in azole. Such as fluconazole. Usually you can see the chemical name in the ingredients. So you can use terbinafine (Lamisil) if changing out some of the habits above don't work.
I had the same trouble with one of my dogs. Every summer she got yeast infections in her feet. She'd cool off in the pool, and since she had big hairy toe pads, they harbored moisture and made a perfect environment for fungus. The stench was horrible!
My vet recommended Dermachlor Flush Plus, and it was a godsend. It comes in a bottle and I'd squirt it on her toe pads and in between her toes twice a day for 3 days. Fungus gone.
We have a Westie that has had a lot of problems with skin yeast infections. He has also had ear infections for which prescription drops were used for a couple of weeks. I used to get yeast infections every time I had intercourse. The only way I was able to stop this from happening was by douching with a vinegar and water rinse right after having sex. It was a major inconvenience but it definitely stopped the ongoing yeast infections. And on those occasions when I was too "lazy" or "relaxed" to get up and douche, the infection would return without fail. A vinegar douche really does help, but it is a major "mood disrupter.
You cant have vaginal sex and then go right to anal sex or vice versa. Its not healthy and it brings bacteria. The yeast infection you probably had, but had sex with your husband anyways before getting treated and then you keep passing to each other. That happened with me and BF. But...if you have no signs of a yeast infection, then your husband is the one that needs to go to the doctor to get medicine to clear it up.
There is an ear medication called Otomax that is used to cure yeast infections in the ear and it is very effective against the Malassezia pachydermatis yeast organism. Why not talk to your vet about using Otomax if you have not yet tried it?

I recetly was taking a antibiotic for my UTI well those symptooms gt better and later I noticed constant itching and white thick yeast smelling discharge and now thy precibed me DIFLUCAN. I wanna know why does this keep happeing to me?
I noticed the change when I started wearing tampons? can it be that, I also heard, I could be allergic to semen frm my dr.??
