Avatar f tn The acidophilus will be safer than any of the other medications that you are on. It's likely that the reason you have a yeast infection is because you are on antibiotics. Or are the antibiotics to treat the potential UTI or it could've been thrush in the first place. When the doctor prescribed the antibiotics for you did he do a swab and take a urine sample for culture. If you have an UTI then you need to be on the correct antibiotics or that infection can spread to the kidneys.
Avatar n tn Once you get them you tend to get them more often The probiotic will help prevent reoccurrence. Acidophilus is one that you can try, note this will really work for just yeast and not bacteria. Align is another you can try, patients tend to do well with this one. Both are safe with pregnancy. Also try to not use fragrant soaps and detergents. Use something more gentle.

Try talking with your mom first to find a solution that works best for you. With treatment yeast infections can clear up in a matter of days.

Avatar m tn I HATE those kinds of yeast infections! Have you also tried probiotics, acidophilus, boric acid capsules, and dietary modification? To answer your question, there should be no reason why an IUD would be contraindicated--you are correct that yeast rarely spreads into the upper reproductive tract. If you are switching from oral contraceptives, that may help with the yeast problem. OCs seem to make people more prone to yeast infection. Good luck!
5806286 tn?1375050370 I was recently diagnosed with a yeast infection by my doctor, which I didn't even have symptoms for. I know yeast infections are common during pregnancy, and I'm looking for a less synthetic way to help my body heal. My hoo haw doesn't react well to chemicals anyway. Anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar n tn My gf gets yeast infections regularly and has been told her body doesn't produce enough friendly bacteria. So, we think the two of these tie together. It affects our sex life and I know there are remedies to increase the friendly bacteria, can you recommend some good ones?
Avatar n tn There are many good over-the-counter and prescription antifungal medications that effectively treat and cure most yeast infections. As an additional measure, watching what you eat may help. Diet recommendations for someone with frequent yeast infections include lowering sugar, increasing yogurt (without sugar) in the diet, and taking probiotics. Go to your health food store and buy a refrigerated type probiotic! I suggest seeing your doctor.
Avatar m tn In the morning take your finger and get the clove out. The get a acidophilus and break in half and insert into your vagina left it in for two hours then take out. Repeat until it's gone. Also take a acidophilus pill orally each day till gone.
Avatar n tn And last, eat yogurt and try buying AZO YEAST homeopathic pills, its just a bunch of natural herbs but it helps to clear off the burning and itching sensation that happens with yeast infections and it will help regulate the imbalance in your vaginal flora. Your hormones will start regulating soon, just avoid wearing anything that makes you too hot and sweaty down there and always pee right after sex.
Avatar f tn I have seen numerous local doctors (OB/GYN and Infectious Disease), yet I still suffer with chronic yeast infections. I have taken various oral/vaginal medications and supplements for yeast infections. I get a form of relief during my menstrual period but shortly after, the yeast will reappear. Several years ago, a doctors prescribed steroids (Predisone) to reduce nasal polyps and prescribed antibiotics for frequent sinus infections. In 2003, I had nasal surgery to remove the nasal polyps.

Avatar n tn I personally have never experienced yeast infections from my ex bf who smoked like a chimmeny. And i get them 1 time a month.. very prone to them from the slightest any irritation. Maybe he gets in there real well and possibly some outside elements like dirt particles, or his own sweat could get in there and cause irritation that ends up in full blown yeast infection.
Avatar f tn Be sure not to douche because this leads to more yeast infections. Also, dry the vaginal area completely before getting dressed and try to only wear cotton underpants. Nylon undergarments and pantyhose can make the problem worse. Also, high blood sugar often leads to chronic yeast infections. You may want to ask your doctor to test your blood sugar to determine if that is an issue. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Oh ... yeast infections and pregnancy ... talk about adding insult to injury, as if we weren't uncomfortable enough! I have been lucky so far, but am usually plagued with yeast infections the whole time. Eating yogurt does help, but I also found that taking a daily acidophilus pill can really help as well. You probably want to check with your doc, but as it is simply live bacteria (same as in yogurt) it should be just fine.
Avatar n tn i am prone to yeast infections and almost positive that i have a uti currently. i know the recommended remedy for this is a course of antibiotics, but they will give me a yeast infection. (normalyl once i get a yeast infection i can;t get rid of it for weeks/months.) can i treat the uti naturally?
653169 tn?1303446369 Any time I have taken antibiodics and knew it would result in a yeast infection, I took the yeast infection medication the day after I took the last antibiodic. Mostly because the antibiodic is much more powerful.
502526 tn?1248887426 I am worried about the potential of a yeast infection and was curious if it is safe to take multi-enzyme digestive enzymes, which are 100% vegetarian based. I know the benefits of eating yogurt, but to be very honest, it is making my stomach turn over the idea of eating it now. It is one of my new food aversions. I have taken these enzymes in the past and they have 100 million live lactobacillus acidophilus cells in it, which should be great for preventing yeast infections...can you advise?
255722 tn?1452546541 Hi all (Jackie especially), Been awhile since I've posted. Here's the latest. I've been through it with testing and doctors and have been as afraid as I can be that I had a brain tumor! I've had 2 MRI's (one with one without contrast), vestibular testing, 22 vials of blood and countless visits to my GP who finally told me to see a shrink because everything is coming out "normal.
Avatar n tn Limit breads, noodles, canned soup, anything with yeast in it and see if it helps. Eating yogurt will also help bladder infections because again, the acidophilus will replace the good bacteria that we loose through illnesses and anitbiotics. Your immune system may also be low too. Might want to get that checked out. A simple blood chem panel can tell you alot.
Avatar f tn Acidophilus supplements or eating yogurt containing L. Acidophilus can help prevent thrush and chronic yeast infections. Eating lots of sugary things can exacerbate the condition.

512442 tn?1216259500 to avoid the grossness of putting yogurt on your hoo-ha, try yogurt pills (acidophillus) or buy AZO Yeast, I've used AZO Yeast pills for all my yeast infections and it relieves it in a day or two. These pills are a combination of natural herbs and yogurt cultures and it balances your vaginal PH. That stuff is awesome, it relieves the itching and burning in a couple of hours too. Yogurt is ok but doesn't work as fast.
Avatar f tn It is not normal to have yeast discharge every day. Most women get a yeast infection and then they treat it, and its gone in 7 days. But 5% of women will have a problem with reoccuring yeast infections or a constant yeast infection that just never goes away. If you feel that you still have the yeast infection, I would suggest going back to your gyno to get treated. I hope that you don't end up in the same situation as me.
Avatar f tn m more interested if anyone has tried and true methods to get rid of stubborn yeast infections. Thanks for your response, Cassandra, I forgot to mention I had been to the dr :-/ oops! They tested and it is definitely a yeast infection.
