Avatar m tn Dermatologist also recommends the use of photodynamic therapy which involves the usage of UV- A, UV- B laser and red or blue LED light to inhibit the growth of the yeast and reduces the inflammation. If symptoms do not improve with ketoconazole then these treatment options can be planned. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar m tn ve had to deal with this yeast infection. Topical Ketoconazole cream appears to alleviate symptoms while I use it but not cure the infection. Although I'm not yet done with the 2 week Fluconazole regimen, I am starting to lose faith in its ability to cure the infection. How can the Fluconazole help with symptoms for the first half, then stop working thereafter? What else can I do? I'm taking probiotics, supplements, avoiding sugar, and keeping the area clean.

Avatar m tn It isn't possible to say what would work until the problem is understood. For example, if the dog also has a smell it may be a skin dermatitis or yeast infections. Some breeds seem to be more prone to yeast. If that's the case a medicated treatment that disrupts the yeast infection has to be used. It is possible to get over-the-counter medicated dog shampoo with 1% (I think that's the small level) ketoconazole which can help stop yeast.
Avatar m tn I have had no legions till date (6 1/2 week). I had a yeast infection with odor and doctor put me on ketoconazole cream at time of test. Would this affect test results?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a male yeast infection which I got from my ex who was also diagnosed with the same. The Doctor prescribed Nystatin which I applied 3 times a day for 10 days. After which the infection symptoms reappeared after masturbation. The Doctor said it is tough to get rid of especially in the summer with the heat and humidity. So he prescribed what he called a stronger topical cream ketoconazole; which I applied for 14 days once a day.
Avatar f tn Griseofulvin or Terbinafine are the treatments for this not Ketoconazole. Except that you can use ketoconazole for a shampoo in addition to the pills. This is provided your liver is healthy. They may do a blood test to check your liver enzymes. So you need oral Griseofulvin or Terbinafine pills (Lamisil). So I would see another dermatologist as that one doesn't seem to be up to date. They can do a culture and see what type it is and confirm that it is a fungus too.
Avatar m tn I have heard there are diets that help with this. Certain foods you should stay away from. I can't think of where I saw it.. When I get a yeast infection I have to take the pill for it. The I am allergic to the creams or something. Are they sure it is just a yeast infection and not something else?
Avatar m tn Ketoconazole is therapy for fungal (yeast) infections, not for trichomoniasis. Metronidazole, which you took is the appropriate therapy. Alternately there is a drug called tinidazole which is also highly effective for treatment of trich. That your tests were negative is not suprising. As your doctor correctly told you, trich is difficult to diagnose in men. Treating you was the right thing to do.
Avatar m tn they are slightly raised but not very much, it is almost unnoticable. after doing some research i am beginning to think it is a yeast infection, but the thing about that is i hav no itchiness or anything on the head of my penis. any help would be greatly appreciated, as i havnt had sex with anybody except my gf, so if i have an STD she obviosuly fooling around on me. thanks!!!
Avatar n tn I have wanted to have a dermatologist take a look at this irriation but i currently do not have any health insurance so I wanted to see what kind of non-prescription drugs/creams i can get to eliminate this. If it helps with he diagnosis, this irriation started shortly after I was diagnosed with a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of tinea versicolor. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Like for eg(selsen shampoo but not selsen blue),ketoconazole(nizoral shampoo), clotrimazole, miconazole or terbinafine etc. Hope it helps .
Avatar m tn Take Yeast Infection cream and put it in the area or the Fungal Cream from any drug store should clear it right up.
Avatar m tn Theres a possiblity it could be a yeast infection. Possibly even Bv?? You can get those just from hormonal changes not sex. You should contact your doctor for a visit expescially since its been 2 weeks now... you dont want it to get worse!
Avatar f tn He prescribed me Bactroban cream (to be applied 4 times a day to the big infection and to the new infection on my left thumb), along with the ketoconazole I was already using (also 4 times a day). It has been 10 days since I began this treatment. It was oozing and getting bigger, so he told me to put baby powder on it if it was oozing. There have also been tiny bumps popping up on my wrist, between my fingers, and around the lesion.
Avatar f tn Have you gone to the doctor? It is possible that you have a yeast infection. Before and After the birth of my child I had one.
Avatar m tn I'm confused... there's a question topic of "Yeast Infection" ?
Avatar m tn Also, I'm not 5 days into my Gentian Violet treatment. I can't tell if it's causing sores in my mouth or if the yeast has adapted to this treatment also. I guess I'll find out in 2 more days... I just want rid of this for my wedding. I would think that it would at least wane due to the fact that I'm not eating ANY sugar... what is this thing feeding on to keep growing?
Avatar m tn All my symptoms point to Black Piedra and I was in Chennai India for 10 days but that was 2 years ago. No fungal treatment over the last 3 months is working. My head has been shaved for 2 months but the black crust keeps growing out covering the hair from inside the follicle. When my hair was longer it felt like grains of sand but nothing would ever fall out.
Avatar n tn Tinea versicolor or pityriasis versicolor is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This yeast is normally found on the human skin and only becomes troublesome under certain circumstances, such as a warm and humid environment. Generally oval or irregularly-shaped spots of 1/4 to 1 inch in diameter, often merging together to form a larger patch are seen on the back, underarm, upper arm, chest, lower legs, and neck. Topical antifungal medications - containing either 2.
Avatar f tn t know what it was so it was left untreated for like 9 months.. My doctor gave me a prescription for Yeast Infection pills and the pain went away. Then a month later, it came back, I got the pills again and it then too went away. Then 2 months after that.. I got it again. (Mind you.. all this time.. I used OTC yeast infection creams, ovules, suppositories.. none work or have ever worked for me) So this last time that I have had it.. I started dating AZO Yeast and Nature Made Acidophilus tablets.
890634 tn?1241186679 In the mean time, I have started on Diflucan (for a yeast infection) and I am hoping that may offer some relief since some evidence has been found to link yeast with seborrheic dermatitis. Although Diflucan is not normally prescribed for that. I also wonder if there is any correlation between the fact that I started drinking a bottle of beer (or 1/2 of one) each night for awhile.
Avatar n tn s in both ears, it could be caused by allergies or he could have a yeast infection in his ears. A yeast infection, while not as easy to clear up as a run-of-the-mill ear infection, CAN be cured with medication. If it's allergies, however, it can be more difficult to treat because the first step in treating symptoms caused by allergies is to eliminate the allergen, which can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
