yeast-infection

Avatar n tn You need to make an appointment with your vet to see what the cause of the redness is. If it's in both ears, it could be caused by allergies or he could have a yeast infection in his ears. A yeast infection, while not as easy to clear up as a run-of-the-mill ear infection, CAN be cured with medication.
209987 tn?1451935465 Our newly acquired "Hero" is going through yet another round of yeast infection in her ears. Before my dad passed away, I remember him saying something about how Sheba was constantly going through this. He had tried many things over the years...took her to the vet who would rinse her ears and then apply some sort of cream inside them. Dad said that he would dish out about $80 or more each visit, and the relief for her would not last long.
Avatar f tn Have you had the yeast cultured to see what kind it is? There is an ear medication called Otomax that is used to cure yeast infections in the ear and it is very effective against the Malassezia pachydermatis yeast organism. Why not talk to your vet about using Otomax if you have not yet tried it?
Avatar m tn I completely agree with everything skydnsr has said. Ear infections in dogs is very common, and almost always due to either mites or yeast infection and/or allergies of many kinds. The inner ears of a dog are fragile and susceptible to infection due to the close surface blood vessels. But the real question is, what is it that your dog has become allergic to (unless the reaction/inflammation has come from another dog or something else like due to diet).
Avatar f tn Allergies can just be allergies and not evolve into cancer. My dog actually has had recurring yeast infections and then we finally did allergy skin testing. he's been on allergy shots for years now and hasn't had any yeast in his ears in many years. It was costly and took a long time to kick in but SO worth it. but before jumping into testing try a strict elimn. diet it could be a cheaper fix.
Avatar n tn yeast can be normal in dogs mouths so it could be contaminating the underwear. We can also have yeast in our mouths in low numbers too (normally). Yeast infections are not sexually transmitted but can be associated with oral sex. So you could actually transmit them to her that way and then infect yourself. So this is a complicated question. Also, you could be getting it from just sweating during sex. The moisture may be causing you to get yeast or another fungus like joch itch.
Avatar m tn My dog has a mild yeast infection in her left ear but she may have a tear in her eadrdrum. The vet gave us TrizEDTA but due to her losing her hearing from Tri-Otic, we didn't want to use any more ear medication that can cause hearing loss. I've recently started making her home cooked meals, wipe her down with apple cider vinegar+water, and flushing her ears out every other day plus cleaning the outer part of her ears on days I don't flush.
Avatar n tn Probiotics added should help her to reduce the yeast overgrowth in her body. I am certain that a simple case of too many yeast cells can cause this in dogs just as it caused problems in people.
Avatar f tn As far as I know, anti biotics are useless against 'yeast' infection. 'Yeast' is a fungus. Anti biotics are useful against 'bacterial' infections only. And the over use of anti biotics can lead to yeast infections as the anti biotics break down the body's own natural defenses. Your use of the word 'prone' makes me wonder if she has received too many anti biotics. I would suggest that you try to build up 'her' natural defense system.
5769293 tn?1373926011 The yeast infection could be due to an allergy. My dogs allergic to yeast and gets the infection. Does it have a foul odor? I would seek vet advice..
Avatar n tn First, do be a little cautious how many times you are washing Freddy, as dogs coats need the natural oils to maintain their glossy coat appearance and the health of their coat. Also, washing too frequently can cause dry skin problems. The best dog shampoos are usually those specifically designed for puppies, which tend to be free of perfumes (which can cause irritation and can dry the skin) and are usually slightly milder in nature.
Avatar f tn It COULD be dried blood, but it could also be ear mite exudate, as a heavy infestation of ear mites will fill the ear canal with a dark brown waxy substance. She could also have a yeast infection, although a yeast infection would more than likely have some type of odor to it. Swabbing the ear and looking at the exudate under a microscope will determine whether or not there are mites present, and then the appropriate medication can be prescribed.
Avatar m tn can a male develope a yeast infection in his penis by receiving oral sex - in other words does having someone give me a blow job cause a yeast infection?
423279 tn?1203562853 I have an 8 year old Saint Bernard. He has always had bad ears with chronic yeast infectons. However for the past month he has had this horrible odor( not yeast) coming from his ear. It is only 1 ear & it obviously hurts because if I try to clean his ear he flexes up & doesn't want me to touch it. the drainage or wax has turned dark brown instead of the usual yellowish color.
612551 tn?1450022175 My Westie has more than his share of skin problems, including Yeast infection which has been treated both with prescription and over-the-counter dog medicated shampoo. All this helps, but he continues to have some itch problem with his ears, which he can not lick, and the ear 'look" okay. He also continues to have some problem on his toes which I think is aggravated by his licking. In fact he can get the toes to show a "sun burn" red appearance.
871111 tn?1248992972 Coughing is an unusual manifestation of allergy in dogs, although I have diagnosed one or two dogs with allergic bronchitis based on chest xrays and tracheal wash/cultures to evaluate the type of inflammation and bacteria present in the lungs; you are right, allergies should not get better with antibiotics, her improvement suggests that bacterial infection is a component of the problem, although infection is likely secondary to another underlying cause.
Avatar n tn You can get a bacterial infection from having sex with someone who has one or just from having poor hygiene in general. What type of bacterial infection do you mean?
Avatar n tn I use a vet shampoo Malsorb I think it is called to help control yeast infection and for sensitive skin .. no perfumes, etc. My ShihTzu gets yeast odor very easily when not on this shampoo. Also has had the red you talk about and it was a moist yeast infection in my dog's case in the area you describe and cream for a week cleared it up ok. Then she ended up with that in her ears recently and liquid of the same med worked fine.
1429136 tn?1287209602 Also wash out the ears with a product called Malaseb a medicated shampoo in Aus. I put a sqeeze of it in luke warm water and squirt into ear and gently rub it in he will shake it out after. It keeps the inner ear in clean tip top condition. They breeders used to use Meths it must have been angony for for the dogs. But please get the ears cleared up first at the vets.
Avatar n tn Yesterday I googled several of my symptoms and a page came up with many of symptoms listed as a product of a yeast infection (Candidiasis). Has anyone ever heard of this before? Is this possible? If so, can I be tested and/or treated for it? Any advice would be helpful!!!
Avatar n tn Hello. Last week I began having symptoms of a yeast infection: vaginal itching, soreness during sex, and discharge like cottage cheese. I visited the doctor about 4 days after the symptoms started and she confirmed that it's yeast. I completed the Monistat 3 over the counter treatment, and the infection seemed to be clearing up after the second night. However, one day passed after finishing the product and the symptoms have begun again.
Avatar f tn Symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection include itching in the vaginal / vulvar area, burning, soreness, pain during intercourse and/or urination, and vaginal discharge. Definite diagnosis is direct clinical examination and the doctor may take a specimen scraped from the affected area for microscopic analysis or for culture in the laboratory. A vaginal yeast infection is not considered to be a sexually transmitted infection, since Candida may be present in the normal vagina.
Avatar f tn Hi After a female touched her vagina then touched my penis and have me a hand job I had a bit of redness and dry cracked lines on the tip of my penis. I went to the doctor and they said it seems like I have a yeast infection so they gave me canistan cream and I've been using this for weeks now and the symptoms are not going away. Does anyone know why? Is it true that some yeast infections may need antibiotics if the cream are not working? Would be grateful if someone could help me. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Plain yogrt. I put it in a glove and in the freezer and put a tiny bit into my area and it relieved the symptoms almost immediately and also will go away with continuous use...
Avatar f tn I am 35wks pregnant and I think I may have a yeast infection I will need to check with my doctor tomorrow but just to be sure what are the symptoms?
608005 tn?1234186146 I have never had a yeast infection so I don't really know how soon after having sex symptoms would appear. I also don't know that you can get a yeast infection from sex...maybe if he had sex with another girl that had one, I'm not sure though. I think that including the guys size and the fact that the sex was rough was relevant because those two factors could be contributing to the fact that you are sore and swollen.
Avatar f tn 17weeks & in pain. How common is a yeast infection in pregnancy s? How do you get rid of it ? Is it because I'm drinking sodas and tea ? Should I just not drink anything sweet ( good ) at all ??
