From personal experience yeast infection is not the cause.
My dog has a mild yeast infection in her left ear but she may have a tear in her eadrdrum. The vet gave us TrizEDTA but due to her losing her hearing from Tri-Otic, we didn't want to use any more ear medication that can cause hearing loss. I've recently started making her home cooked meals, wipe her down with apple cider vinegar+water, and flushing her ears out every other day plus cleaning the outer part of her ears on days I don't flush.
Recently I came down with an upper respiratory infection and the doctor prescribed me a penicillin to clear it up. I told the doctor that I had a yeast infection the last time I took an antibiotic. I purchased a probiotic but didnt take it till after the 3rd day of medication and the damage was done already. I got a yeast infection and I have had one before due to antibiotics so I knew what it was.

I took the medicine, got a lil bit of relief but it never went away. I went to the doc again the other day and got some medicine. My Dr said I have a yeast infection but I have had one before and I got pills this time she gave me this cream and a tube and I fill the tube with the cream and stick the tube up my vag and release the cream in there. Why would she prescribe this why couldn't I get pills. I thought that's what I was getting and it's to late to call and ask her why I got it. ) Not really necessary and likely not what you are even seeing. It does sound like a yeast infection. They sell over the counter medication for this -- little eggs that you follow directions and place in the vagina at night when you go to bed and this releases the medicine. Takes a few days. But since you've never been diagnosed with a yeast infection, doctors recommend seeing them for diagnosis (they swab it) the first time and treatment. They make a pill you take for it too.
BV isn't an std but just passed the same way. Basically if you have the bacteria, your partner would pick it up from you and have it on him. Then reinfect you with that same bacteria. But it isn't an STD. :>)
Typically the medication given isn't the same as for a yeast infection. Yeast is actually a fungal infection which is different than bacteria. With bacteria, the medication is a pill and does have things to know about when taking it.

My doctor did not do a swap test or anything but thought i had a bacterial infection. Present day ( a week of the medication) I still feel the itchiness and am thinking that I have a yeast infection. I've heard eating yogurt can help fight it, but what about dairy free yogurt? Would eating one container of dairy free yogurt help? I have an allergy to dairy, I looked online and found "so delicious" yogurt which is dairy free.

I stayed home all this week from school (5 days) to rest my yeast infection. I have been using Miconzole 7 two times a day thats why Ive been home resting. One time in the afternoon one time before bed. My question is was it a good idea to stay home from school this week and rest it, or should I of just sucked it up went to school and risk making it worse?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Do not try to have sex while you have a yeast infection or are taking the medication. Give yourself/body time to heal. The infection can be spread to your partner causing him similar symptoms and discomfort. Give it a few days(or at least until you finish the medicatio) then resume the fun and games.
Let your OB know because many times its hard to tell the difference between bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection.
Yeast is typically not fishy..sounds more like BV to me...in which case monistat will not treat.
