Common Questions and Answers about Yeast infection and dryness

yeast-infection

Avatar f tn I have never had a yeast infection and I'm 49 years old. I'm extremely dry in the area but I've research the topic and I can't find where dryness and yeast infection go together. I'm assuming it does I've taken the pill today and I hope within 24 hours it will be somewhat better. Help !!?
Avatar f tn Hello, These symptoms are due to dryness and chafing during sex. Indulge in plenty of foreplay or use water based lubricants like KY jelly before and during intercourse. Apply warm compresses and wear cotton clothes. If the symptoms persist then get it checked out from a gynecologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn For your first yeast infection you should see a gynecologist. This is the most common condition they see. Don't be shy. Health is important. But you must wash all your underwear in hot water with measured detergent and baking soda to kill the yeast. Use pantiliners while treating the condition. The MD can give you one or two pills for yeast or topical cream. Use the cream as directed. Personally the creams irritate my tissues for some reason so I prefer the pill form.
Avatar f tn thats what diflucan is for too.If you see a discahrge that is rather thick and clumpy and white that is yeast, yeast typically itches like heck but not burning,,tell them you want a vaginal culture to determine the exact pathogen causing your discomfort and perhaps a repeat of the std scans.
Avatar n tn Well my vagina is very red and swollen. I've been having a milky white discharge and very mild itching. I never had a infection before so I don't know if this good be one. I married and have been for 14 years so I know that its not a std. I have an appt. but would like to know what good this be?????
Avatar f tn I am 26 and have had dryness pretty much my whole life but it seems to get progessively worse. I get probably around 3 infections a month whether it be yeast or bacterial or urinal. I am wondering if any of these symptoms are in correlation with each other. I am also wondering if i could benefit from vaginal estrogen therapy, even at the age of 26.
Avatar m tn and she didnt know she had a yeast infection and gave it to me. so i went to the doctor and he said use a anti-fungal cream and i use it but when i stop it comes back. we have sex with no lubrication, could this be from sex without lubrication or somthing else?
Avatar f tn Thanks a lot for your response. I was tested on all other STDs when diagnosed with HPV and tests gave a negative result. I'm getting better but still have itching and dryness.
Avatar n tn I noticed that I was dryer than normal during sex, and as a result I became incredibly tender afterwards and developed a yeast infection (I've read that the friction from dry sex can cause that?). Anyway, the yeast infection has cleared but for the past two weeks I've remained too dry for sex to be comfortable, and have no idea why it's started up. I'm too young for menopause, I've been on the pill for forever, so why now?
Avatar m tn the only way to deal with this is by treating it with medicated creams for a yeast infection. You can go to your pharmacy for this and your husband should be treated also or you will both keep passing it back and forth. I cant be sure that this is the problem but treating it will rule this out. does it sting when you urninate? have you been on antibiotics recently? are you on the pill? These are some of the reason you can get thrush, but there are many.
Avatar f tn Hi Miss, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us. I think first you need to find our why you are having burning and itching. Is it a yeast infection or something that needs a physicians treatment? I don't know your age and that can play a part in your symptoms. If you think you may have a yeast problem causing the itch and burning there are products you can purchase at your local pharmacy without a prescription.
Avatar f tn I had that white on my vagina and I new I had a yeast infection and they gave me stuff and it did not go away, I still was swollen and red and itching so i tried all the home remedies and nothing worked I kept calling my doctor and they were like you just have dryness try Vasoline. That made it worse!! Finally I gave up and tried monistat 3 the external cream got rid of the stuff going on the outside. Make sure you use some sort of cream for the outside.
Avatar f tn First, no need to worry. This is actually a bit more common than you may think. Cuts in that area may happen because the area could be too dry or to moist (weir). Also the cut doesn't cause the yeast infection. I think the yeast infection causes the cut. I use to have this problem very badly for about a year. It seemed as though once a month I would notice a cut and then I would get a yeast infection.
464013 tn?1206731717 That helps to balance things and actually helps yeast infections. And, see a rheumatologist!!! You may need an immunosuppressant!
Avatar f tn She did a swab test to rule out yeast and bacteria. No std! She gave me Premarin cream to be applied topically at night time (pea size) to the area. It has been two weeks and I don't really have much relief. I have not been intimate for about three weeks....Has anyone had an experience like this? What did your doc suggest? I sent my GYN an email today telling her how I feel, have a follow up in 11 days, but don't think I can wait that long. Have not heard from her as of yet.
Avatar m tn I dont know what I have. I thought it was a yeast infection, but after Canesten, a few doses of fluconozole, garlic pills and acidophilus supplements nothing works. I got swabs done for yeast and stds but all were negative. I am in severe discomfort with extreme itching, constant burning, dryness and lots of discharge. My next gyno appointment isn't for another 6 days. With my symptoms if doesnt even seem to be Bacterial Vaginosis. What could I possibly have?
Avatar f tn A couple days ago I began having this odd itching sensation in my vaginal area. I dont have any other symtoms (no discharge, cloudy urine, or burning while urinating) but the itchiness is getting worse. Do you ladies have an idea of what this could be? Or how to safely treat it while pregnant? I'm going to talk to my Dr tomorrow.
Avatar f tn Six days ago I had unprotected sex. This partner has been safe in the past. Later that evening I started noticing burning from my vagina. I have a tendency to get irritated after sex, and I have reoccurring yeast infections. I've used monostat anti itch cream, no suppositories. It seems to help with the dryness and the burning, but it's never cleared up. Now I'm paranoid I have an std. So far, no bumps, sores, itching, odor, flu symptoms.
Avatar n tn Age: 19 Weight: 60kgs Lenght: 1.78m Sexual activity: none Medical history: Used In the past 6 months, my foreskin has become dryer and dryer. This hasn't really bothered me, I occasionely acquired a wound that would heal the day after when mastrubating dry. Recently I had some intense activity(lol) and my foreskin became sore. It started looking red. I noticed my foreskin became tighter the day after and when pulling it back it hurt even more(did this in warm water.
Avatar n tn Even with out symtoms, your yeast infection needs to be treated, and probably from a prescription from your doc and not the over the counter stuff. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Is it because of the cold and dry climate? or is it some kind of yeast infection? I do not suffer from any infection myself. there are no blisters on the skin.. the dryness is all around the penis and it is painful.
Avatar n tn i went to the doctor, and he said it could be a urinary infection or a yeast infection. it was strange that he didn´t even talk about stds. he sent me some antibiotics which have to insert vaginally, and they really burn... he did a swab test and a urinary test, and today they gave me the results - both came back negative. so now i´m really really confused. i´m traveling, and finding it very hard to get to a good gynecologist...
Avatar f tn Not to long ago I realized these lil bumps around my vagina, I researched a lot about it and I came to find something that looked like what I was experiencing and it was genital warts. I do not know if that is 100% accurate but that's what I've come close to. I've also noticed these white pimple like bumps on and inside my vagina, I do not know if it's a yeast infection or something more serious.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor and was tested for everything that could cause the itch and they said it was a yeast infection and gave me Diflucan. It helped for about a day and then stopped. I went back to the same clinic a week later and got another dose which helped for three days this time and then stopped. All my test for STI's came back negative. A month and a half later, I moved and had to go to a new PP because I was still experiencing the itchiness.
Avatar f tn Were you also tested specifically for BV? If you were putting things into your vagina, you could well have given yourself an infection. Please see an ob-gyn, they treat anyone who has gone through puberty who has a vagina. Ask them for an honest answer about the smell, and take their word for it -- an ob has smelled all kinds of vaginas (not that they put their nose there for that reason, but they have to look inside to do an exam) and would certainly know if yours smells unusual.
Avatar f tn I’ve been tested for STDs and my tests came back negitive im not sure what this could be I also don’t think it’s a vaginal dryness issue either, and I also took fluconzole because I thought it may be a yeast infection, and I took antibiotics for bacterial vagnosis two weeks ago and no change.
Avatar n tn You need to make another appointment with you OB/GYN and let them know that this infection is recurring and that nothing seems to provide lasting results. In the meantime try using a combo pack yeast infection treatment and or plain yogurt until you can make it to the doc's office. Best wishes and God bless as well!
