Xyzal and inner ear infection

Common Questions and Answers about Xyzal and inner ear infection

xyzal

Avatar f tn ENT said eustachian tube dysfunction due to allergies (tested positive for various inhalent allergies) and said to use Xyzal and Flonase. Xyzal made me too sleepy so stopped, and Flonase has done nothing. ENT said it would take Flonase a month to clear up the ETD. The constant ear popping wouldn't bother me if it weren't accompanied by the lightheadedness and brain fog, which sometimes by the end of the day turns into a very bad headache and then disappears.
Avatar n tn I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I'm pretty sure I have or im getting a ear infection. Is there anything OTC that I can take? Trying to avoid seeing a doctor.
6985828 tn?1386742571 The cause could be an inner ear problem if your symptom of loss of hearing is accompanied with tinnitus and dizziness. It could also be due to a middle ear infection. The other common causes for loss of hearing are cerumen (ear wax) impaction and otitis externa. You will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation, who may then refer you to an ENT specialist.
Avatar n tn It itches very bad and is just inside the inner canal. White crusty flakes come out into my ear. The doctor gave me ear drops, but it seems to just make it drier. My wife has been putting monistat cream in there with a Q-tip which makes it feel better. Do you know what medication I can use to permanently get rid of this? We live in a very low humidity area and it is very dry here.
471949 tn?1236904026 In many cases these problems are the result of an inner ear infection or some other treatable condition. Once the infection is treated and healed, the dizziness and ear ringing should gradually disappear. Another reason for dizziness and ear ringing may be Meniere's disease. This is a condition characterized by an excessive build-up of fluid in the inner ear. Cause is not known, but mostly related to head injury, ear infection and syphilis.
648987 tn?1231201877 I was wondering...do your sinus and ear infections (and mouth ulcers) happen on the same side? If so, are they pretty painful and antibiotics don't seem to help? If this is the case, you may have a subtle case of shingles, or a recurrent fungal infection. I know, weirdness, but Dr.s don't always look for these things...Also, hypo can mess up your body chemistry, causing it to be more susceptible to infection...
Avatar n tn That would be an infection within the cochlea. He had a middle ear infection, and apparently now he has an outer ear infection. (an infection within the external auditory canal/ear canal) The middel ear infection could not possibly be caused by the ear buds/insert ear phones he has been using... it is just not anatomically possible. Is it possible that they have caused an infection within the ear canal? Yes and no.
Avatar f tn A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large. I am going for a 2nd opinion and have to a neurologist also. Is there anyone out there who can relate? This has completely changed my life. I have a family a job & responsibilities and some days I just sob from discomfort and frustration.
Avatar n tn Most importantly you could have a possible inner ear infection, and if you keep having pain in the ear please go to your PC Doctor, and have them look into the ear. If you do have an inner ear infection a the Dr. probably will put you on a proper corse of Antibiotics for 7-10 days. With all this said its very important to remember this is just my opinion only. Ultimately seeing a Dr. if symtoms persist is always your safest, and best choice.
Avatar n tn Hi. Thanks for the update. Without any visual problems, then involvement of the ear needs to be ruled out. If no problem has been noted concerning the ear, then a neurologic referral may be made. Infections of the inner ear like labyrinthitis which is "an infection or inflammation of the inner ear causing dizziness and loss of balance" and vestibular neuritis "an infection of the vestibular nerve, generally viral. " may present with similar symptoms.

Avatar m tn Soon enough I went to visit a doctor about it who took a look at my ears and told me they were perfectly fine but he gave me some xyzal and nasonex nose spray. After taking both the noise began to slowly fade away but this odd feeling in my ear has still persisted and every time I yawn I can still feel the slight uncomfortable/pain at the left side of my neck.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Your symptoms could be due to a fungal infection of the external ear known as Otomycosis. Otomycosis most often occurs when too much water gets in the ear canal such as after swimming or showering in chlorinated water. It is also called Swimmer's ear. Antifungal agents and analgesics are prescribed for therapy. Avoid swimming, or water getting into the ear until the fungal infection is fully eradicated. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn That stuff can get backed up and fester. Bacteria then can grow and wa la, ear infection is the secondary infection if it has moved that direction. If it sticks just in sinuses, the secondary infection for a cold is sinusitis. If it moves to the chest, the secondary infection is bronchitis, and so on. So, just putting a finger in your ear would not cause you to have an inner ear infection.
Avatar m tn I have really bad pain inside my ear and nose. Also feeling really dizzy. Is this an ear infection or a sinus infection?
Avatar n tn Im sure the first thing that should have been mentioned was a case of vertigo most likely caused by a type of inner ear infection, however if you have seen three doctors that couldn't find an ear infection....well they are either terrible doctors or it's NOT an ear infection....you never mentioned specifics on your illness back in may. what were your symptoms then?
643681 tn?1223407715 The inner ear is also responsible for balance. Thus, if the inner ear is disturbed, such as an infection, which is usually viral, an affected patient will often complain of lightheadedness or dizziness. If dizziness is being caused by sinusitis in your case, then treatment of sinusitis only will lead to its improvement.
Avatar m tn Your symptoms of loss of hearing and tinnitus could occur with problems in the inner ear. It could also be due to a middle ear infection. Only a complete evaluation can help diagnose the cause. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I am still plagued with many symptoms from this exposure, including the liquid in my middle ear and tinnitus. The infection spread from my genitals into my spine and into my head. It was horrible. How do I get the liquid cultured? Would they have to cut my ear drum or can they go through my nose?
3839438 tn?1348612583 I have a hard time concentrating or doing much of anything. How do I get rid of the ear infection if the antiobiotics did nothing and even seemed to make it worse? I'm waiting for a call back from my doctor and I'm not sure what to even say. I'm guessing to try more antibiotics or perhaps some ear drops? Any information helps. I am so sick of living this way and I can't bare it any longer.
Avatar n tn I really can not answer that question, I would sure see a doctor as soon as possible to rule out anything serious such as a TIA. It could be an inner ear infection, anxiety, flu, anything, so, please get it checked, it is better to be safe than sorry.
1818558 tn?1366884583 I had this situation due to inner ear issues. And it is a well known fact that dizziness and anxiety can happen. I'd recommend the journaling and taking that information to your doctor to follow up as needed for core causes.
