Avatar f tn I was born with eczema and I started to have bronchospasm few years ago. The doc said it might be asthma and prescribed me with salbutamol. However, i found that I don't have the common syptoms as asthmatic people .e.g wheezing or coughing, and it doesn't disturb my sleeping as well. I just feel the bronchi contract and chest tightness which go away after few minutes later without taking the inhaler. I've taken the inhaler before but i found it no use, so i didn't use it anymore.

Avatar f tn So if you are experiencing frequent attacks of asthma, you should try to prevent triggering agents which cause asthma and also get evaluated by a pulmonologist for correction of dose of polemicist for preventing further attacks of asthma. Hope this helps. Best.
Avatar f tn Pulmonary function tests were normal but she thinks I have asthma. I am on Xopenex inhaler and Quvar inhaler. Recently having more attacks and having to use the Xopenx more so she ordered antibiotic and 1 week of predinose. She wants to do a high resolution CT of the chest and methocholine test but it is very exspensive so I am trying the conservative approach first. Do you think I have been misdiagnosed? I am so healthy otherwise and don't smoke.
Avatar m tn Hi, it is possible to be having asthma issues and maintaim a good peak flow for a while. Peak flow reflects how clear the larger airways are. You could be having issues in the smaller airways. The presence of mucous would indicate that something is probably going on. You should really discus this with your dr at your next visit and see what he/she says. Another thought would be acid reflux. Could this be an issue for you?

She was tested for allergies and asthma twice She takes singulair albuterol inhaler and xopenex viles in her nebulizer according to the recommendations of the doctor . Each time she has a spell of not getting her breath she also experiences heart pounding episodes Also after strenuous exercise occasionally this heart pounding occurs.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?

1754037 tn?1327886811 I am 18 weeks and have asthma, I have had it my whole life, I am one of those who was born with it and didn't grow out of it. I take my albuterol inhaler a couple times a day. My OB/GYN also put me on flovent cause the steriod I was on before I was pregnant hadn't been tested on pregnant women and she wanted to be safe. My OB said that is safe to use both the albuterol and my flovent, especially because it causes more damage when you deprive the baby of oxygen.
Avatar m tn HAVE YOU CONSIDERED HAVING AN ABLATION. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE TWO, BUT IT HAS MADE IT WHERE I DON'T HAVE ANY REAL BAD PROBLEMS WITH SVT ANYMORE. MY NEW ASTHMA DR CHANGED MY INHALER TO XOPENEX. IT HAS LESS SIDE EFFECTS ON THE HEART. IT DOESN'T MAKE IT BEAT AS FAST AS PROVENTHIL DOES AND DOESN'T MAKE ME NEAR AS GITTERY. THERE ARE ALSO SOME MEDS YOU CAN TAKE TO KEEP SVT (TACARDIA) UNDER CONTROL.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was 10 yrs old, I'm now 27. I've played soccer since I was a kid and never had any serious issues. About 2 yrs ago I had a real bad cold/sinus infection and ended up in the ER because of my asthma. Ever since then, I have not been able to get my asthma under control. I've been prescribed almost everything you can think of, steroids, albuterol, xopenex (inhaler and inhalation solution), budesonide, mucinex and that's just for my asthma.

Avatar n tn Hi, I have a 6 year old son with autism and asthma who has currently started on the Xopenex for the asthma control. He has become extremely hyperactive and somewhat aggressive with the Xopenex, and I am wondering if there are any other meds that wouldn't have this side effect.
Avatar n tn If you do then I would say Asthma without a doubt. You can have trigger asthma, I do, in response to irritants. Usually the indoor pollution is much worse than outdoor, try opening up your window for 10 min a day to get fresh air in, using mite covers on pillows and bedding, buy a hepa vaccume cleaner and use it once a week (at least, also dust once a week with a damp cloth). I wear a face mask when I clean so I don't irritate my lungs. Try changing your sheets once a week.
Avatar f tn she is now on steroid inhaler in hopes she doesnt have to use the short acting inhaler( which by the way i had her dr change to xopenex) supposedly less stimulating. Im a nervous wreck..Help pls..
Avatar f tn Last winter she starting having symptoms again which was a usually a cough that led to respiratory infection. If we caught the cough early enough with her inhaler (xopenex) and allergy med (zyrtec) we could avoid the infections. We made it all summer with no problems or use of meds. In August she started again with a cough so we started the Zyrtec and Xopenex again. Her Dr said if we had to use the inhaler more than 3 days/week to bring her in for an appointment.
783328 tn?1236218525 I wonder what is causing my asthma I did not suffer from allergies before asthma but it seems that my asthma is very unpredicatable despite the fact that I am taking best medicines available on the market. Also, Is my asthma an autoimmune disease? What else I should try to do. What to ask a new pulmonology specialist which I am supposed to see at the beginning of April? Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn Thus even though I have never needed a rescue inhaler and believed that I only had exercise induced asthma, I was prescribed my rescue inhaler ever 6 hours (xopenex) and a maintenence inhaler (asmanex) every night along with flonase and clariten. After taking all of these doses in addition to feeling jittery and lightheaded I started to develop stomach pain and heart burn symptoms. Has any one had similar symptoms?
Avatar n tn some have issues with the preservatives and Xopenex works better thru the inhaler which as I understand is in a more pure form . Have they considered Singulair? Just wanted to add my comment on the asthma. I am certain Dr.Lupo will have much to add .. great question.
Avatar n tn I have an appt with a pulmonary dr. in three weeks, but would love input from people who have been through something similar. I was diagnosed with asthma a few years ago. I've been on one puff of Asmanex and albuterol (now Xopenex) as needed, but rarely needed rescue inhalers. I've only seen my general dr. for my asthma and he isn't very informative. The last couple of months my "asthma" has felt worse...
1315759 tn?1274044788 my asthma is not under control, at work it always bothers me. i am on the albuterol pump plus the breathing machine, which both does no good. what other inahlers can i use? or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened.
Avatar f tn Hello Leslie...I am sorry about the asthma/anxiety issues that you are having. It is very scary whenever shortness of breath starts, then the anxiety kicks in and makes things much worse. Were you doing anything in particular when the breathlessness started? Oops...I just read that the episodes happen randomly. Do you live in a cold climate? I have found that cooler air that is less humid can trigger an asthma attack.
