I heard that broken capillaries caused by retin a doesnt go away fully. Retin a causes vascularization which is dark circles under the eyes. Retin a thins the skin and exposes veins under the eye. This has to be treated with laser treatments because apparently it doesnt go away.
I dont understand the use of Retin A. It worsens the skin wrinkles, acne, thin skin, dark circles....and then after 6 months or years of use..."you hope" that itll get better...
Hello! I've been diagnosed with EDS for a few years now...
I was wondering does anyone know if its possible for people with our condition to get facial fillers? (Restylane, Juvederm, collagen, botox, or Retin- A creams?) The reason I ask is because I've noticed that the skin on my face is getting thin and wrinkled, especially around my stretchy eyes. ( due to EDS) I know it sounds vain, but I'm just been tired of feeling like an old lady my whole life...

For stretch marks, Creams containing alpha hydroxyl acids and retin-A are said to be useful in decreasing the stretch marks but the advertised antimarks creams have no proof of effectiveness. Eat healthy ,nutritious food ,drink plenty of fluids and do moderate exercises. Laser therapy, and dermabrasion, alone or in combination have also been shown to be effective in diminishing the appearance of stretch marks. For that you need to consult a dermatologist.
I have been taking Retin A about an year now, and my skin has improved a lot. So, when I started I had this ugly period as expected. But, recently I feel, I am going through the same ugly period, and my skin looks darker every time I use Retin A. So, should I stop it or is it just another ugly period that will go away, after some time?
Angebelle, thanks for your reply. That is good news about the Retin-A. I am going to a dermatologist in a few weeks, and and am going to ask for it. I always thought it was only for acne, so wish I knew sooner! I appreciate your descriptions about your Mom's skin. In the meantime, I will use my Vichy, which is highly rated, but as you say, is not prescription strength..

What is the best topical(s) for reversing the side effects of cortiosteroid creams? I know about Retin-A, however the area of skin I need treated is very sensitive skin and I don't think retin-a would do much good there! So what other topicals are there to help improve skin thinning and bad skin reactions to steroid creams? Be specific with products if you can please!
the shaft looks swollen, wrinkled, darker and bumps are all over and the head its dry and fine lines is noticeable, on the top of the shaft bottom of the head where the shaft is start theres a darker line around the penis, and right under tahat line the skin is wrinkled all the way down bottom of the shaft, on the back side theres alot of bumps, there are days it is very irritating and itchy but there is no pain, nad i am having this symptoms for about 3 months now.
What are good topicals to use to thicken and strengthen thin skin on sensitive areas of the body? I have already tried emu oil and some vitamin C & E creams with minimal improvement, however I don't want to use Retin-A because I believe it could be too harsh for this skin. To be specific the skin is not as elatsic and firm as it once was and seems weaker, maybe partially due to previous overuse of certain topical medications.
To hydrate my skin, besides discontinuing retin A and using a low dose retinol now, I use an intense moisturizer, run a humidifier daily since I live in the north, drink 100oz of water a day, have cut all caffeine and alcohol from my diet, and take flaxseed. I am desperate for ways to speed up the hydration process so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Like is there medication that helps hydration?

Im a 17 year old and the skin on my hands are extremely wrinkled, especially on the knuckles. the lines are very deep, and i have many lines on my palms. they used to be extremely dry and rough as well, but i started to use Vaseline Intensive Rescue Repairing Moisture lotion and now they are softer, but still very wrinkled. how can i fix this?
Its really really old looking and wrinkled. I just started looking at it with a light and glasses on and it really looked wrinkled and this is after i started using a jelly type store brand lube and after i looked i decided to discontiue the lube just in case it was that and well i need something to use so im using vegetable oil... and my penis looks alot shinier by the way but anyway.... What i want to know is what is a good free lube? is it vegetable oil?
Oh, I'm sorry to hear about this. Skin problems are so emotional in nature too because of how we all are about our appearance. But you are not alone. When the health crisis blows over, seeing a dermatologist may be of benefit to you. They do have things they can prescribe. Retin-A is one of them. Some women also have success going on birth control pills when they have adult acne. Make sure your make up isn't contributing to the issue as well.
Several years ago, I made the mistake of getting my eyebrows waxed while using Retin-A. Big mistake!! But its not a mistake that will cause scarring. Our facial skin renews itself alot quicker than skin elsewhere on the body. Keep the burned area clean of infection, use neosporin or similar, and then use pure aloe vera after the skin has healed. It'll take a several long weeks to see the brown marks lighten up and disappear.
The newest treatment for age spots is an alpha hydroxy acid gel or beta hydroxy acid gel. Retin-A cream, alpha hydroxyacid peels, and liquid nitrogen therapy are other options.

So I bought some bio oil bc my tiny stretch marks are starting to grow, I showed it to my OB and she said I can not use it bc it has Retin A in it! Has anyone else been told this? I'm sad bc I want to start to fight these marks asap!!!
