Avatar n tn Wow,...That is CRAZY that your workplace does not allow respirators. May I ask why??? This is NOT SAFE for anyone! These chemicals have been shown to cause problems with the lungs, not to mention the body itself. Just googling toluene exposure alone for lung problems brought up many articles citing its hazards on the body. I would absolutely look for another job.
Avatar f tn I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE PERSON THAT WROTE TO U, GET WITH THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO SEE WHATS GOING ON WITH YOUR BUILDING OR LEAVE, YOUR HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT.
Avatar f tn Of course, there are always individuals who get through the filter net. I assume your stress test was on a treadmill? You could have a stress echo which will see any abnormal wall motion when the heart is working hard. However, the gold standard is still the angiogram. You do know that smoking is continually damaging your arteries? You've probably been told this a million times, but if you are concerned about your heart, you would stop.

Avatar f tn I just found out that I lost my work today because I cannot stay well in a workplace that has clorox, paint, polyurethane, bacteria, with NO return air. I am in a very specialized field--I teach newly arrived refugees from Burma, Africa, etc. tospeak English. It may be too late, but is there any kind of mask I could get and still teach--I guess, however, that it would have to cover nose, mouth and eyes--maybe I coul wear it half the time. I need/love the work.
Avatar n tn It definitely sounds as though you were in a hostile work environment that caused you a great deal of stress and eventually caused you to have to seek a new position. The fact that your immediate supervisor was involved rather than trying to help you is also deplorable...and wrong. However, the burden of proof in a legal situation is on you. If the new job caused you to take a pay cut, then you certainly could seek damages for the loss of income, not to mention rank.
Avatar n tn m not much help regarding the buzzing in the ears. It could be related to high stress or anxiety, or uncontrolled blood pressure, sinusitis, ear disease like menier's disease, or medication side effects. Make sure your hearing is tested and of course see your primary care doctor to have a whole body physical exam and see an opthalmologist becauese of the eyestrain. I wonder if you might have some problems with your workplace - such as enviromental issues.

975514 tn?1324997938 I wanted to start a thread for those of us who have CFS and or FMS and are dealing with stress in the workplace. For those of us who are still working, the economy in the US and perhaps in the UK too has been extremely tense over the last couple of years. This has compounded the pressures I think we usually feel at work dealing with our illness and managing our careers. How do you all do it? I find myself struggling to keep a healthy balance.
Avatar m tn If under stress I do feel sick but recently my head has felt drained and just felt unwell in my head. I have a fear of falling for example from a high building I work I worry about it and go over the horrible thought of falling out of it again and again. Avatar m tn The so called potential hazards you read about is a controversy that has been going on for decades, with almost no proof at all. I would not worry about silver fillings from that perspective. Normal depends on the office, some use more amalgam, some more composites. When I say composite, thats what the filling is called. There are only two main types of fillings, white composites and silver amalgams.

Avatar f tn I know exactly how you feel and I react exactly the same to work stress. My only answer for myself is that I've decided to quit my job and look for something less high profile. I think we have to be aware of our 'stress vulnerability' with Bipolar, it really is a very big trigger, possibly the biggest trigger of all to mood episodes. As ILAD says I think we have to learn what coping skills work for each of us. Work stress drove me to drinking badly, and made my BP even worse.
