Workouts using exercise ball

Common Questions and Answers about Workouts using exercise ball

483733 tn?1326802046 A big balance ball, a medicine ball, resistance bands, and small hand weights are also in my arsenal. I also found a really big floor mat online. Most of the mats in stores are not very wide, and it's kinda discourging if you don't feel like you fit well on your mat! Also, the wide mat is a great surface to do my video workouts on, and gives my joints an extra layer of padding on top of my shoes and carpet. Hmmm, I feel pretty guilty that I skipped my AM workout now!
Avatar f tn I'm not like other people who can do hard core exercises with intense Cardio (mostly because I have a heart condition) but I like to do more low paced activities that I can do in my living room at my own pace, I enjoy a workout with an exercise ball, stretching, and activities like planking which use lots of muscle without having to hike up my heart rate unecessarily. However, I also have to do Cardio regularly and I enjoy using a bike or elliptical.
Avatar n tn When stress, like exercise, increases the heart rate, it makes you a higher risk for stroke and heart attack in this profession. Since the stress levels suffered by EMTs in emergency situations, your heart rate may prevent you from getting and keeping a job. Alot of time exercises that are aerobic bring down the heart rate. Biking, swimming, low impact aerobics and power walking are good exercises that will give you a good workout without raising your heart rate too high.
1285110 tn?1420150978 Theres not to my knowledge one exercise for just the hips, because they are pretty immobile, but if you target the areas around the hips it will work just fine. For example doing butt exercises. There needs to be more butt ones invented. Since you already do squats you can try the one when you are on all fours, raising each leg one by one as high as you can while its bent into the sky, keep your foot parallel to the ground not pointed. You can also do it with your legs straight.
Avatar f tn The problem is I don't have enough energy or motivation to work out steady for a certain amount of time. What I like to do is have my equipment set up (exercise ball, Malibu Pilates machine, mini-trampoline, Curves for Women, stretchy bands, jump rope), it's all laying out so I can literally walk by and start using it. That helps me.
Avatar f tn I turned into a daily gym user, and saw visible results about three months into this regimen. Diet and exercise are certainly a great combination, and the supplements I was using to support the workout did a great job of that. WARNING! There is a downside. I am fairly certain that I drove myself into a significant relapse at about the five month mark. I was exercising into overheating, and following it with a nice warm shower, which invariably left me weak and shaking for the drive home.
Avatar n tn But you shouldnt be laying on your back after around the 2nd trimester anyway. Some suggestions are on the exercise ball or plank holds because it strengthenes your core. But you have to keep it mild, no straining. Anytime you feel strained, stop. Those ab ligaments are easy to pull while you have the relaxin hormones and closer to the end you definitely want to lay off the ab workouts. On the plus side, you can start again right after a natural birth, but not a c section.
Avatar n tn The whole workout will take 40 to 50 minutes with the warm-up. This workout includes exercises you do with dumbbells and a fitness ball. Repeat each exercise for 45 seconds or do 20 to 30 repetitions. Pick the weights for each exercise accordingly; you do not want weights that are too heavy or too light. Some exercises involve two moves at the same time, such as lunges and bicep curls.
Avatar f tn Exercises that target the back include the lumbar extension, which involves laying prone on the floor or a ball, and lifting your head and shoulders by using your back muscles. You can have your hands on the floor or ball for support, but don't use them to push. Bird-dog is another effective back exercise. On all-fours on the floor, extend one leg back and the opposite arm forward. Engage the abs by pulling them up toward your spine.
1831849 tn?1383231992 On another board there is a thread labeled Exercise Accountability. It is members post brief descriptions of there ongoing exercise activity. Posting to the thread helps keep me motivated. I've started this journal to provide my MedHelp friends a place to do the same. My journal is open to all who care to post. :-) Kyle Today I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes and covered 2.5 miles. I carried 3LB hand weights and did random arm exercises.
Avatar f tn Advanced runners can perform variations of the crunch to increase intensity by using a medicine ball or stability ball. The supine march core exercise activates the transverse abdominus that helps to stabilize the pelvis and lumbar spine while running. Matt Fitzgerald from suggests that the movement forces your legs to move freely and alternately while maintaining stabilization. To perform the supine marches, lie face up with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor.

Avatar m tn The most effective abdominal exercises include the bicycle crunch, reverse crunches and crunches on an exercise ball. Do abdominal exercises at least two days a week, performing one to two sets of 10 to 20 repetitions of each exercise. The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between. Ideally you’ll be sprinting or cycling full throttle for 30 seconds with a 90 second cool down in between each outburst.
1292058 tn?1294658970 Sorry to pop into this thread. When working with a Trainer and using a Bender Ball for ab workouts is when I found out BIG time there was more than just a bit of leakage when laughing, coughing, etc. Those specific exercises caused a scenario that required more than a light pad. Oh my, how embarrassing the first time or two it occurred too! Didn't give up those exercises but work something more capable. Btw, legs were with bent knee in a "crunched" position.
Avatar n tn I am feeling much better. It's been over a week and I know I am eating the right kinds of foods. Even controlled my sweet tooth. I am eating mostly eating fruits and vegetables and a very small amount of meat (chicken & fish). I am doing low impact exercise and using my ball. I walk when I can. Been very busy at the office. I am trying to measure my calories and it's working. I'll keep you posted.
Avatar f tn Hot Hot baths,as hot as you can stand them...Exercise works wonders..Bananas for the potassium....The RLS was the worst part for me....Heres what I did at night so I could get some rest......Soaked in a hot bath with epsoms salts, got out and rubbed my legs down with a mentholated muscle rub, wrapped them tight, but not too tight, with ace bandages, and then wrapped a heating pad around each of them.May sound strange, but it helped me immensely.
Avatar f tn Some exercises include leg raises, jacknifes, Swiss ball side crunches, side bends, Swiss ball crunches and hanging leg raises. Using the Swiss ball will recruit more ab muscles. Do each one of the exercises consecutively for 15 to 20 reps with no rest in between. Then take a 60-second break and do them all again. Repeat the whole circuit four to six times. Again you need to do cardio. training.
Avatar m tn Now I am having the same sharp pains in my elbows, shoulders, and knees, and the ball of my right foot. I went to the gym last night and attempted to work out my arms—OW!—and ditto shoulders. I know what post-exercise muscle pain feels like, and this is not it; this pain is specific to joints and it's not pain typical of overexhausting a muscle.
Avatar n tn After I talk to my Doc I plan on using that massage ball. thanks soooo much for posting that.
1894940 tn?1321300511 on the treadmill, and the rest varies from weight training, ball exercises, scrunches, etc.. I even go back in the afternoon to work out. I am very frustrated because I cannot loose the weight. The only time I lost is when they gave me Adipex and I lost 20 lbs. I am no longer on it and have gained about 5 of those pounds back. I eat healthier now than I ever did. I go through periods where I have strange cravings like hot sauce where I can just about drink it.
172023 tn?1334675884 Started with an elliptical, now a large floor mat, sets of weights, balance ball, and next I want to get a medicine ball. My DVD collection is growing too, I really like ones that you can "customize" and mix up routines. Since I am still very big, high impact is mostly out of my range, so I also look for workouts that have different levels, so I can work up the intensity as I get better, without needing to buy all new DVDs.
Avatar m tn I've begun icepack treatment and am on a daily low-dose arthritis NSAID. Any thoughts and/or suggestions for me. I love my football workouts out on the beach (who wouldn't?), but it hurts to now throw the ball. Ouch! (I was laid off after working 10 years and now have no health insurance.) I could try a wrist cortisone injection, which I've had success with in the past for elbow epicondylitis. Thanks lovely people!
Avatar f tn -deadlifts with weight you can dead lift 10-15 times. I lift two 30lbs dumbbells. -laying on a Swiss ball holding a medicine ball (6-10 lbs) behind your head Any level of fitness: -laying on a Swiss ball, arms stretched behind your head -laying on the floor hold on to something with your hands and try to reach as far as you can with one leg, than with the other.
Avatar f tn I feel the most pain when I try to lift my arms over my head (like taking off a shirt), or when I need to push or pull using my left arm. For example, it hurts when I am washing a cup and have to hold the cup with my left hand while I wash it with my right. I am wondering what could be wrong with my arm and what steps I should be taking to help my shoulder feel better. I don't know if I should go to my doctor or just try to give my shoulder time to heal.
212795 tn?1194956174 I do 3 sets of 50 crunches per day, I stopped for a couple of weeks and now I have included it back into my workouts. Also, I have access to a gym where there is a nice treadmill and eliptical machine. I want to get into weights as well, an my boyfriend and I are going to start doing that together. I also noticed the no carb diet on here - and boy do I love carbs and sugar! I eat lots veggies and fruits. I LOVE cheese!!!
767148 tn?1257306151 your weight, you must lower that by 3,500 calories for each pound you wish to lose and or increase your exercise or the intensity of your exercise to burn calories to lose. Once you have done your Food Diary for a week and hopefully implemented these other trackers, we'll be able to point you in the right direction to achieve your goals. Remember ... one day at a time ... and it will come off slowly (1-1 1/2 lbs per week) with a week every now and then that you plateau.
575863 tn?1218472613 those done sitting one a large exercise ball. You surely can find information on what to do. Start gentle. Don't push it. But do progress. I'm sorry that you are in such pain. It is a beast I live with as well. Knowing there are tools that can at least tame it some helps with the emotional toll. Try various things and keep trying. Accupuncture helps me, but accupressure helps far more. God bless.
Avatar n tn Dieting Community. I'm new to this particular forum and am beginning the Nutritarian Diet. and exercise program for myself:) Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Avatar n tn What other exercise beside situp and lifting leg in the air helps with direct inguinal hernia
Avatar m tn It was a little shaky with having taking my concerta at the same time, but soon I was able to successfully handle the two co-existing in my system with no real anxiety, urological, or neurological issues. I had been using NOXPLODE for about two years and while I did increase my dosage (due to tolerance), I realized that this couldn't be to swell for my kidneys so eventually started to reduce my scoops used.
